When I saw the shot, I said not to far back, but about5" too high. Great job tracking though. My Widow is 51# @32" draw shooting Black Eagle Deep impact arrows and Simmons Land shark broadheads

Great hunt, Great job on the recovery and knowing when to back out and not push her. Really enjoyed watching it.

They spooked after they heard you creaking away up in the stand. Tighten up the loose bolts/nuts and pad the floor of the stand and you wont spook em. 4:47

I bought a used Black Widow in 1993, we’d drive from Maryland to Tennessee to a pay to hunt lodge. I had cheap Patriot broad heads that just blew through those hogs.
I’m now a Retired Deputy, and had back surgery to put rods and screws in my back. Fell off a roof broke my back last fall.
Lost my dear hunting farm so I just stopped hunting.
My job busted me up and the cold is getting hard on the arthritis. Took my social security and I want warmer weather. Plus, I wanna stalk some hogs. Haven’t figure out which southern state yet. Are hogs a kill all year round without a license, or is it a set season and license?
I use a file to sharpen my broad heads also. Be safe.

Sorry to hear about your back problems! A filed edge is best for broad heads in my experience. In Florida on private land you can hunt hogs year round. Good luck and thanks for commenting!

You don’t learn to run a track hoe like that in college. Nice work!

Nice hunt, I can’t believe how skittish those hogs are!! If you don’t mind me asking, what shooting glove are you wearing?? I used to use the old school Bear kind with 3 leather straps coming down the back of your hand and I find it would kinda roll on me and I’d constantly have to adjust it straight before gripping the bowstring. That looks to be a more full coverage glove that wouldn’t do that. Thanks!

    Hunters!
At 3:17 into this post Mr.Langer makes a poor decision. Climbing into a tree stand without an anti fall harness is not only foolish but deadly.

    • @misterz2719
      @misterz2719 Рік тому +2

Yes, many of us do it and we probably shouldn't, I have done some stupid things over the years. Like when I'm using a tree climber and forget to attach the bottom to the top and the bottom falls down the tree and I have to hug the tree all the way down. I know many guys down south are using life lines on every stand and those are pretty nice. I was thinking of doing it, mainly for people that want to hunt on my properties , always worry about them.

Langer is NOT stupid but rather excited to hunt and has gotten comfortable with that which he should not be comfortable.

You are correct! I have them on all the other stands, I had a belt in my pack, however that’s not good enough!!

Mr. Langer , I learn from your posts and hunting adventures and even though I write some wise crack remarks I do actually appreciate your lifestyle and blog content as I would much prefer to be hunting and fishing myself. Please don’t take my last comment as anything other than reminding folk that hunting is far more enjoyable if they avoid falling from a tree stand .

      Your right on Jack!
I did fall once setting up a tree stand for Barry Wensel on a bear hunt in Canada. My feet were about 8ft of the ground when the strap broke, landed flat on my back, knocked the wind out of me and split a 1” cut in my back from impact. It’s good to be reminded to be safe at all times!

Thank you Robert! I was in diapers when my Dad first put me on his lap running a dozer in the early 70’s, he put a bow in my hand at that time as well, it’s about all I know😎
