I love the questions in this interview and the fact that they talked about some of the behind-the-scenes. I also appreciate that they mentioned the impact and influence that the show has in opening up conversations about LGBTQIA+ issues especially in a conservative country like Japan.

It’s very rare on a reality show to really like each member but this is one of the reasons The Boyfriend worked so well. It was actually well balanced.. Asking DaiShun more questions mean sidelining the other members just like Netflix did to Taeheon just because he didn’t have any love interest.I felt this live was well balanced. Everyone got equal screentime.

I’m a straight woman also, and 4 years ago I discovered BL’s. I can’t get enough of them, and I don’t know why. I don’t share my love of BL’s with many people ( maybe just 2), because I know that I will get judged massively. I had such high expectations for The Boyfriend, and I was afraid that it was gonna be a let down. BOY WAS I WRONG ! I loved the show, I loved the men with their different personalities, I loved the openness of the concept, and I LOVED the opening song ! Dai and Shun led me through a whirlwind of emotions, and I still think there was something there between Usak and Kazuto. Kazuto’s face told the story when Usak left. He was affected big time ! Above everything else, I loved the friendships between the guys, and I respect all 9 of them for being courageous enough to do this show. I believe that this particular show, they have shown that men loving men ,can be a beautiful thing too. Thank you gentlemen for participating in it, and thank you Netflix for making this show The Boyfriend available for International fans like myself.

The best part of the show is not about finding love or romance you find in the show but how the cast talk about how to go out of their shell, a talk of family acceptance, the scene of shun x ryotos friendship, the way how Ikou try ti fixed his friends relationship instead of stealing Dai to Shun. Theres dozen of good things you can get from the show that are truly relatable just like Shun, his character and personality is actually i can compare to myelf since Trust issue is always a big deal to me. Lol

O hope they do a season 2 with a new or partially new cast with some of single guys from season 1 back. Lastly, it would be nice to see visibility for Girl Love by doing "The Girlfriend," too!
