Well you dont own it and during the hard times the software is revoked, then you can't make music to make more money for the subscription -- it's bullshit
@@annother3350 i wish more things were rent to own rather than subscription based. will never pay for a subscription but might try something if I'll eventually own it 🤷♂
Subscription based software is a one sided model which is heavily biased towards the product developers. It locks the end users into a never ending pay as you go scheme which only benefits the software company. The price point is unrealistic when you consider that to make music, one has to often subscribe to many different plugins from a variety of different companies. Add up all the monthly subscription amounts and you will find a staggering $$ going towards software that you will never own. I try to steer clear of subscriptions whenever I can.
Yep, this is more like renting a couple of great keyboards. It make sense if you only need these instruments for a short while for a project maybe. Checking the FAQ, there's a monthly subscription option. Having said that, I already own a couple of great VI piano's and soft synths that sound just as great so this is not for me 🤷♂
I'll never buy subscription-based software. If I pay money for something,I want to be able to use it anytime I want instead of paying every month for years until I've paid more than what it's worth.
@@HOLLASOUNDS For me two! Played both in latest track. I even like to play Arturia Mini V2, which I started with and like the "vintage" look-and-feel of it :)
@@samprock Yes I think the Arturia mini V sounds great, instant inspiration, and the presets are good. Real Minimoog owners say that it's nothing like the real thing but I say it is because I have copyied the patches from real Minimoog vids and made the exact same sound.
Jack, can you please compare the Waterfall B3 to the IK Hammond B3-X and just for fun to the Nord. Preferably before the end of March when the UAD sale ends. Thanks!
People need to quit using the term subscription. If I have a subscription to something, when I cancel my subscription I get to keep whatever I had received when subscribed. These things are more just rentals and are never worth it.
@@HOLLASOUNDS yea. That's a rental not a subscription. They just calling it a subscription. If you subscribe to a magazine, they don't take the magazines you received during the subscription back when the subscription ends. You keep them. Same is true with any subscription. @@bryantwalley The word rent is spisific to physical items and not for software or digital media that does not exist on a physical medium like a cd. More over you dont actually own any software or media you pay for a license to use it, you dont own it. That's the point you never owned anything.
I'm a Reason user and you get alot more in there subscription, however I dont do subscriptions but its definitely got way more devices, alot more sound capabilities then UAD.
Is Dan losing his sight or has he become so used to being Jack's blindfold test guinea pig that he now just automatically closes his eyes whenever he's put in front of a keyboard at Anderton's?
Fabulous video guys! For someone who owns UAD hardware, you only can demo Spark+ once, which is problematic when they release new products. The upside is that you can buy these outright and own them forever. Thank you so much for showing how two players attack the same instrument. Really helps me get a feel of what these can do! Cheers from the US!
@@mikepatrickmusic I know I am making it sound comically simple, but PLEASE record this if you ever find yourself in a position to. There aren't many pieces I can listen to and vividly imagine/feel a scene play out in my head, and this was definitely one of them. It makes me feel like I'm staring up at the night sky to admire the stars one last time as fear and excitement wash over me before I take the first steps of some epic journey or something.
Great sounding virtual instruments! For professionals that really like UAD plugins, it's a decent deal. However, for home recordists, hobbyists, or those that already have a good library of effects and virtual instruments, it doesn't really make since as that $20 comes out of your bank account each and every month whether you use it or not. It could be like that gym membership you never use. 😄
Bit of overkill, using a Nord Stage 3 as a keyboard controller. Listen with your ears, not your eyes. UAD plug-in is an amazing virtualisation of real instruments, but subscription only model kills the prospect of home based producers getting value for money.
Subscription-based things sounds like a good idea but they always give me a weird feeling...

I just discovered Jack's cameo appearance in the first episode of Fauda season 4!! Have a look around 14 minutes 50 seconds in!
That lad with grey hair playing....arhh heee fish paste ooooww argh
What hub are you using to connect the nord to the laptop?
soundglitch at 1.50 was ist the plugin or the postproduction?
So many better options. Hate subscriptions. The best thing about UAD is their customer support.

subscriptions though?
Curious where that $0.99/mo for 3mo deal is found.
Yeah, I’m seeing a Black Friday deal from last year for 3 months, but nothing right now

its the buffer set really low for the latency, not that surprising considering how powerfull the plug ins are
