  • My cousin called needing help so its Hay Time again ! The plan was for my uncle to rake me to run the baler and Bill to haul hay to the barn when he got done raking. Well that got changed real quick when the help was late showing up. So I raked and hauled hay. The JD 2010 has been in the family sense it was new and it still looks really good oh it got new tires on the back a week ago. That's the reason the 1550 utility went down to rake hay in the earlier videos because the 2010 got a flat tire and the other one was rough too so he got both of them replaced. Still a good tractor. I hope you enjoy. Oh We did get all the hay baled and hauled to the barn (14 miles away) before the rain came ! So we beat another one ! Bandit

      The 2010 diesel has been in our family sense my grandfather bought it new and it has all its original paper work too ! My uncles has 2 2010's a gas and a diesel and there both good little tractors and I've run both over the years. These are one of the few JD tractors built you just dont see very often being used these days, But I like them and dont mind running them one bit. Bandit

    Good to beat the rain... I'm pretty decent at figuring how to get 3 days to get hay cut, raked, and baled without getting rained on, more often than not. Sometimes you just get caught though, just how it is. Not quite so critical with round bales, just roll the windrow over and let it dry good and then roll it, for cows it all comes out about the same. Small squares for picky horse people, well, bless you for doing it because I couldn't deal with those kinds of folks... heard too many horror stories about horse people! LOL:) Later! OL J R :)

    Iv heard the rumors about 2010s as well. But i love mine. Its a narrow front that I picked it up for cheap. Very nice overall condition. I put a loader on it and found 3 point arms for it. It has a split rockshat for front and rear cultivators but i can lock the rockshaft as a single too. That was a rare buy neat feature apparently. Love to see these. In videos.. yours looks real nice

      The 2010 JD diesel belongs to my uncle but its a tractor that has been in the family sense it was bought new by my grandfather . By one cousin has the original bill of sale and all the warrenty info and any of the paper work from when it was bought new. That's hard to find now ! My uncle has 2 2010's one gas the other diesel and below 50* he wont even try to start the diesel and fires up the gas and goes to it. He broke the NF on the diesel and found the gas for sale that had a wide front under it and the NF that was under it and bought it and put the NF under the diesel to fix it. One of the 2010's has extendable 3pt arms (sure makes it a lot easer to hook to 3pt equipment) and the other one has strait ridged arms that is hard to hook anything to it. There both really good tractors and there in good compony with the JD 4230 and 4430 sitting next to them. Bandit

      Thanks Rick. We had a good day when things got rolling along. It made for an interesting day and we got the last wagon in the barn when it started raining ! So I think we did pretty good that day not getting any wet ! Bandit

    This was one of those really hot and humid days to be baling hay and the best part was they were calling for rain that afternoon ! But things never go according to plan so I ended up raking and Uncle Bill did the baling, He likes the way I double rake so if he's happy so am I We got it all baled and hauled to the barn before it rained that afternoon ! My cousin got back just in time to drive the tractor and baler home and in the barn before it rained. So we did good that day beating the rain. Oh before I forget this is a little story time about the JD 2010 diesel. I hope you enjoy. Bandit

      Thanks, I sure did miss the 1550 Utility while raking. Don't get me wrong I like the 2010 but when your used to having the 2 speed and a better seat (never liked the seat on the Deere's) that you can turn to look back behind you it spoils a guy. LOL Bandit

      I really like raking with the 1550 Utility, Its a very nimble tractor and its very comfortable to operate all day long. That is one of the things I never liked about the JD's seats, They just aren't very comfortable to sit in and I never liked reaching forwards to use the hydraulics . There good tractors don't get me wrong but there are things about them I just don't like about them. Bandit

    Well there's that pretty lady again ha and I hope if the day ever comes that your uncle doesn't need her anymore you'll buy her and keep her because yes 2010 narrow fronts aren't an everyday thing much less a diesel one. And that one is a nice one

    • @banditfarmer1900
      @banditfarmer1900  8 років тому

      One of his 3 boys I'm sure will want to keep it. Like I said its been in the family sense it was new and it will stay that way I'm sure. This is the only 2010 diesel narrow front that I know of around here, He also has a 2010 gas wide front that looks as good as the diesel and he's the only person I know of that owns 2 JD 2010's any ware ! If your beans and corn need the rain don't just worry about it. All you have to do is go out and mow hay and for sure it'll bring the rain. My old 24t baler never could handle a double windrow but this year I did a lot of work on it and I must have done something right because it just ate up and baled everthing I threw at it.

    • @banditfarmer1900

      It did rain that day but not on my soybean fields but at home 9 miles away I got a 1/4" of rain ! We finished that day after the hay was baled and hauled to the barn we moved the rake and baler 3 miles to get to a small hay field on the other side of the fence to bale 34 bales for my cousins neighbor, 3 long windrows. It took longer to get there than it did to bale it ! LOL Sounds like you got it just right, A 24T is a good old baler but it was made to bale hay like when it was new and not like we do now, But there still good balers. Bandit

      I had been asked to show this tractor before and this was the perfect time to do it. The 2010 diesel has its own sound and this one is the best looking one around and its still working in the field like it should be. Bandit

      It's been in the family ever sense it was new, My Uncle is very funny about keeping it cleaned up and in good shape. It gets washed and waxed a couple of times a year and I will say its one of the sharpest 2010's I've ever seen, He has 2 of them, One gas and a diesel. Bandit

    Always nice to see the older John deeres still being used and i am a Deere fan myself and how many acres of hay do you cut

    • @banditfarmer1900
      @banditfarmer1900  8 років тому

      I don't do any myself right now but I have been helping my cousin and uncle bale when they need help. He puts up about 6500 bales a year. I've owned a few JD 10 and 20 series tractors myself and they were good tractors but I still like my Oliver's better Bandit

    How you like running that Deere? Do you do much hay making? I saw you have two balers of your own but wasn't sure if you used them that much

    • @banditfarmer1900
      @banditfarmer1900  7 років тому +2

      Running the 2010 diesel really is not all that bad, I fact it's not bad at all ! Of course I've been on this 2010 sense about 1868, My grandfather bought this 2010 new and its been in the family ever sence. I do have 2 Oliver 520 hay bales but they havent baled with them for a long while, I dont have any cows right now and dont have any hay of my own to bale up. When I find good equipment thats cheep enough I'll buy it and wait to use it. Good smaller equipment is hard to find these days so you buy it when you can find it. Bandit

    That is a nice old 2010. I assume it has been a good tractor for the family?? I know some people say they where the worst Deere ever made and other people get along fine with them. That was Deere's 1st New Generation tractor.

    • @banditfarmer1900
      @banditfarmer1900  8 років тому

      He has had it in JD shop a couple of time to fix some minor things that got expencive , But like he said what else can I buy for the repair cost. I guess he has a point. The 2010 was a tractor that had its problems but they did sort them out in time. The gas 2010 he bought in part to get the narrow front that came with it, The one on the diesel got broke when my cousin was plowing with it and he couldn't find one to fit it so he bought the gas 2010 to get one and another tractor. He has had them for a long time I think the late 70's ! He's happy with them so I guess that's all that matters. Bandit

    Damn, a 2010 diesel. Theres something you dont ever find. 2010 row crops in general arent that common.

    • @banditfarmer1900
      @banditfarmer1900  8 років тому

      He has 2 JD 2010's, One is the diesel narrow front and 2 is a gas wide front and the gas looks as good as the diesel. The new tires (2) on the back of the diesel are 13.9x36" and the fronts are 5.50 14" (3 rib) and both sizes are hard to get and there not cheep ! The gas is waiting on one new back tire for it as its about to go ! They both make good hay tractors ! LOL But there the wrong color of green ! LOL Bandit

      It was 10 or 11 acres if I remember right and as I remember we just beat the rain that day, As I pulled the last wagon in the barn it let loose with an inch of rain ! LOL Bandit

      Man it looked like rain the hole time we was baling that hay, My cousin had to take is daughter that day to get her drivers liesens , She passed ! He got there about the time we were getting done and hooked to a wagon and headed to the barn with his dad behind him and me in the back with the old flipty floppy wagon ! 15 mph was as fast as I could go to keep it somewhat strait in the road , It was a real slow ride ! LOL But we got it all in the barn before it rained ! Bandit

    I'm in the process of rebuilding the transmission of my 2010 row crop.

    • @banditfarmer1900
      @banditfarmer1900  6 років тому

      If your still in there check the bottom shaft for ware at thee seal, They are prone to ware and if its wore the seal wont seal it good and it will leak oil. Uncle Bill has had the diesel back to John Deere twice over the years to have it fixed, The last time they replaced the shaft because of seal ware on the shaft. The only way to fix it is to take the trans apart to get to it and its a pain in the butt ! I hope you have good luck with the rebuild and it goes back together easy ! Bandit

    Looks like your uncle has some nice stuff. Did I hear you say one time he has a White 4-150?

    • @banditfarmer1900
      @banditfarmer1900  8 років тому

      His son has the 4-150 and I think there half's on the 4230 JD and Uncle Bill owns the 2 JD 2010's. He bought that 4-150 so cheep it would make your head spin ! Bandit

    • @Fieldman12
      @Fieldman12 8 років тому

      I always for some reason liked the look of the 4-150. Most people I have talked to though said they had a lot of problems with them. How does he like his? If you ever get a chance to do a video of it I would appreciate it. A guy across the street when I was in my early teens had one for a short time. They traded it for A DA 9190 when they where strong selling in Clinton County.

    • @banditfarmer1900
      @banditfarmer1900  8 років тому +1

      I'll ask him about a video of it. He bought it cheep but he had to do some work on the hydraulic control cables and a few other things, About a $1000 worth of work, But its still cheep horse power and it does everything he wants it to. He's happy with it and that's all that matters. Bandit
