I discovered from birth certificates that my 4th great grandmother was a midwife. She is listed as the midwife of at least 3 of her grandchildren and 5 of her great grandchildren. My 2nd great grandparents had twin girls and they share a birth certificate. My great grandmother's birth certificate originally had her name as "Willie" and she was a boy, she had it changed and they simply crossed it out and fixed it!
What a nice discovery about that 4th great grandmother! It's a great example of how birth records have more than just the child's info. Thank you for sharing!
