You can do anything in the rain! The only reason it really rains is to water your crops for you and if you ever craft a lightning rod, sometimes you get a battery pack to use for more crafting. You can also use your scythe instead of your axe for all of the weeds.
you can also get the mermaid pendant from the old mariner on the beach which allows you to get married if you’re at 10 hearts with a romance able npc and it changes the fishes you can catch, also the npcs have different routes on rainy days the battery pack is only in thunderstorms that are excusive to summer (i think) there’s probably a few things i’m forgetting lol oh and all festival days are garenteed sunny days
I’m not surprised your first time playing Stardew video became your number one on the channel. Us Stardew people are always chasing the high of playing this game again for the first time, and sadly (and fortunately) the only way we can is to watch new players experience it! So I’m there whenever I see someone new try it 😂❤
Love the play through today 😊. Go back to the Community Center and interact with the golden scroll on the floor. Will activate more. Pick up forage (flowers, leeks, horseradish,) each season has it own forage. Most villagers like flowers, fruit and vegetables. Make another chest for outside, you'll want to save at less 1 or 2 item that you collected. Also when you are leaving the farm you can leave tools you don't need. Always carry with you your hoe for worm and green wiggly 😊. If you go to the mine take a chest and leave it there inside by the elevator. This way if you are doing a mine dive, every 5 floors you get the elevator back up put things in chest and continue. Go down to the west end of your farm and you be in Cindersap forest. Friday and Sunday there is a Traveling Cart 🙂. Spring onions are there for energy. Make field snacks all so(maple, oak and pine seeds). Have a great week 😊
Speaking of forage items you can either sell them, use them for gifts (daffodils in particular, several villagers like them; a few of them like leeks too) or use a few forage items to replenish your daily energy when you run out of it. Foraging is quite fine for early game income too; in my first game I mostly lived on forage for the first half a year untill I fully learned the fishing, mining and farming mechanics. If you want to increase your early foraging income, you may consider to commit a few days and collect 300 wood to open the beach area south east that you saw in the first episode, and then visit the place once in 3-4 days. Chests can be placed not only in the room, but also anywhere outside. Sometimes it is convenient to have a chest at the entrance of the mines, on the fishing docks etc. for temporary storage (especially before you upgrade your bacpack inventory space). To re/move an empty chest just hit it with an axe or pickaxe and it will appear in your inventory. You can slowly move around also a full chest, just hit it with pickaxe.
You asked if you can take those candles from the floor of the mine... Yes, hitting them with your pickaxe will put them in your inventory, and then you can put them on your farm so it's not so dark there at night. "Is a field snack just a whole bunch of seeds in a packet?" Yes. One acorn, one pinecone, one maple seed. So genuinely yes 😂 Talking to Lewis on his birthday awarded you extra friendship points compared to talking to him on other days, however giving him a gift he likes or loves would have given even more friendship points, for remembering his birthday (Haley's birthday is the 14th of spring btw... I heard she likes daffodils... just saying) Your reaction to Alex is correct, and Pam's eyeshadow freaks everyone out, it's okay 😂 You raise animals in this game to sell their produce (milk/cheese, eggs/mayonnaise) not their meat This was a great episode, can't wait for part 3!
You sound so lovely when you're reading the dialogue with the NPCs. Your voice just sounds so smooth. I feel like I sound breath-y and nasally when I read out loud, so I'm a bit envious :-P Just so you know, you can pick up many of the items that you see scattered around. If you notice any flowers or fruits you should try to grab them. Some can be given as gifts and others may come in handy later - or you can just sell them. I'm a bit of a hoader early on so I tend to save most of the stuff I pick up in the beginning. Oh, and you can actually turn on your fireplace in your house to make it extra cozy (don't worry, your house won't burn down). Regarding the Wiki, if you want to avoid spoilers I'd suggest not checking the Wiki just yet. Even if you're just trying to find out how much something costs, you might see something that's meant for later in the game. Glad you're enjoying Stardew and I'm looking forward to the next episode ⭐
I love to see a new person get into one of my most favorite games, just try to take it at your own pace, there’s a lot that can be overwhelming. The wiki is your friend 😄
Glad to hear you arm's feeling better, and that you're enjoying the game! I'm on my fourth or fifth playthrough and would love to be able to play it for the first time again, so it's great that you decided to play this, your reactions are brilliant 😂 I decided to do an evil playthrough this time, joining joja, walking up to people and giving them actual trash as a gift, pelting them with eggs, and wondering who to romance and then break their heart... (you can cheat on your partner in this game btw) you know, evil stuff. I figured the most evil route would be to melt the heart of the stuck up valley girl and cheat on her with her sister, right? (Like I said, evil. Do NOT do this in real life, people!) So I started giving Haley gifts that she liked, and suddenly she revealed herself to be all sweet and kind... and she's avoiding Alex! One time she was standing on the beach and said that she wished she had some ice cream, and I found myself running to the ice cream stand and back to give it to her.... that's when I realized that the "evil" playthrough had changed; the plan was to break her heart, but she melted mine instead 😢 And that's how I found myself in a "Haley was never rude to me" playthrough, instead of an evil one. Maybe next time I should romance her sister first.... 😈
Animals require a coop or a barn which can be crafted for a cost at Robin's carpentry shop. You start with some basic animals (well, you still have to buy them from Marnie) but the buildings can be upgraded twice which both gives you more options of animals as well as some other things (a machine to hatch eggs for the coop, some weird way which gives your barn animals kids (even if you don't have a male one) and the option for it to feed the animals automatically. It will also give you room for more animals. First thing to do if you want animals though is to build a silo. It isn't expensive and when you scythe grass on your farm, it will become hay in the silo. Otherwise this far in the game, you just want to earn some money and get a few levels in the basic skills. Farming will increase by you harvesting crops so you do want to have some crops planted. You could wait and buy strawberry seeds at the egg hunt the 13th of spring, those are the most profitable spring plants and you can also get some parsnips to grow until then since the seeds are cheap. They are not super profitable or give a lot of XP though, but they will stop you fields from growing over until then. Parsnip are a good alternative. You do want to gain farming XPs since you eventually will unlock the sprinklers that way and watering crops get old fast. Foraging will level up after you cut trees or pick up forage (like flowers, berries and mushrooms, they are good gifts) as well as sea shells and similar things from the beach. Mining will give you XP after hitting stones with your pickax as well as ore and gem nodes. They are easy to spot in the mine. Combat you increase by killing stuff and fishing by fishing, using crab cages and fish ponds. Each will unlock new crafting recipes as you level them up, making things easier for you and increasing your profit. Turning fruit and vegetables into jams, preserves and wine which raise their price so will making mayo from eggs, cheese from milk and truffle oil from truffles.
A little hint for you is that when you see a spot with 3 wiggling lines on the ground you can dig then up with your hoe. Sometimes you find pretty good things like that. Also later on you will get the option to be able to have monsters show up on your farm at night the way they would on a wilderness farm.
Hey! Im loving the channel, if you want to know some loved gifts off the top of my head: almost everyone likes flowers (you can pick them up off the ground) and fruits and vegetables that you grow. Sam loves pizza, shane and pam love beer, and leah loves salad (all can be bought at the saloon). Sebastian loves frozen tear and likes quartz, and emily and and Abigail both love amethyst (all can be found in the mines). Thats off the top of my head as the easier early game gifts you can give, the rest are a little harder to get i think. Anyways have fun with the game! Also in my opinion a great mod for beginners is ui info suite it just shows you alot of information more easily.
Hello! Ima offer some information and tips that i didn’t learn until I looked it up or accidentally found! There are sort of spoilers, more so I have 50+ hours in the game and just know things now. Also there are 18 points. 1. The menu that shows the friendship levels and your skills also have menus that: have a map; shows all the things you have collected, your mail, and more that I am forgetting 2. to start progressing with the community center you have to click the glowing square in the community center 3. Pigs are one of the last few animals you can get, (the order goes chickens, cows, ducks, sheep, bunnies, and then pigs, you can also get horses but I haven’t done that yet) 4. The cool thing at the beach, your house and the mountains are for teleporting but you have to unlock the crafting recipe, (some times you can get them as loot but I think that’s rare) 5. The squiggly likes are ‘worms’ and if you hit them with a hoe then you get cool things! 6. the map (mentioned in point 1) shows the whole of stardew valley but doesn’t show two locations that you will be able to unlock later! 7. I know this was mentioned in the first video and idk if you still plan on doing so but please don’t store your things in the cave, it will have a use relatively soon (I think) 8. each season is 28 days, so a year in game is 112 days 9. fishing kinda sucks but the more you level up the easier it gets and it generally gets easier as you get better (more expensive) fishing rods. 10. there are no real birthday celebrations people just like the gifts more when you give them on their birthdays 11. you can get things to donate by breaking open geodes (most times ) 12. you can unlock the mine carts and place with the broken bridge (in the mountain area) after completing certain stuff in the community center! 13. check the tv every day or so because the “living off the land” can give tips and there is also a cooking channel that you can only use the recipes after you get a house upgrade (rude, it’s one of my favorite aspects of the game) 14. you can go through the trash cans and get stuff, not always good and if the townspeople see they might make a comment but linnus won’t! 15. the characters that have less hearts are a) all single, and b) unlocking the hearts means you can date/marry them (I haven’t romanced a single character and have a world that is on year three, giving gifts they like -without using the wiki- is sort of exhausting) 16. don’t worry about missing big events! (Purple flag) You will get a letter in the mail from the mayor about the them! 17. currently you don’t have access to the area in game yet (I forget what triggers it) but eventually there will be trains that pass through the valley that can drop items! But not always :( 18. you can access the sewers but you have to donate a certain number of items to the museum (Idk the # of the top of my head) I think that is all! But if I have a request, please explore the woods near Leah’s house and Marnie’s barn! (You will get it if you look at the map beforehand)
"You have new ideas to sleep on" does not mean you are intended to go to sleep. It is just a notification that you have leveled-up one of your basic skills, and next morning you will get the full info of what you have gained. It also means that next morning you are granted to get full energy even if today you pass out of exhaustion. Rainy days in the early game (before you have any animals to look after) are the very best - you do not have to waste any time watering your crops and are free to do whatever you want - mining, fishing, exploring, doing quests, meeting townspeople etc. Unfortunately you totally lost your first perfect day here. A note - some fish can be caught only when it's raining, and also some events are rain-specific. If you see something strange, "out of place", always try to interact with it. That includes the shining scroll in the Community center that the little "apple" was trying to get your attention to. Birthday means: you give someone a birthday gift. If it is a loved/liked item, your friendship level with the villager considerably increases. But if you give something that he/she dislikes or even hates - decreases. Some items are neutral. Different NPCs have different gift preferences (except for some universally loved/liked or hated items). You can give gifts to every person 2 times a week plus a birthday gift once a year. The friendship effect of the birthday gift is much higher than that of an "everyday" gift, so it is worth to check their birthdays and then give the best-quality item of the kind that the particular NPC really loves. Flowers is a relatively safe bet for most of the villagers (mostly loved, liked or neutral), but there are some exceptions there too (a villager may dislike or hate a particular flower that about everone else likes, and a few flowers may be almost universally disliked except for one or two persons who absolutely loves them). You can always check your heart tab on which of the gifts you gave them were loved (++ to friendship), liked(+), neutral (0), disliked(-) or hated(--). A star on the item (like parsnip etc.) shows it's quality. There are basic (no star), silver, gold and irridium star levels. Higher level = higher value, both in money or as a gift.
You’re not going to be able to raise pigs for a hot minute… you’ll need to purchase and build a barn, upgrade it twice, buy a pig (the most expensive animal Marnie sells), and wait for it to grow up. Farming, foraging, fishing are definitely your best money making options right now. Also! I’m sure everyone else has said this, but read that little gold plaque in the community center for more “apple” content :) Finally, I just have to defend my boy Shane… I swear he gets better when you get to know him more. He’s got a really interesting storyline throughout the game
If you want to go the animal route you will need some starting money ... If you want you can buy some strawberries on the first event and get some good money from them 🙂
make friends with everyone, even the mean girl. Everyone has a good story line. Shane has one of the best (darkest) stories but he isn't good husband material. He's always my bestie. Harvey, Elliott, and Sebastian are the best hubbies, and if you keep him happy Sebastian is a wonderful father.
We pretend we do not see Alex interacting with the female farmer. We stan Alex interacting with the male farmer. (Seriously, his storyline changes significantly depending on the farmer’s gender)
As I wrote before, sound was much better this time. For the Community centre go look at that glowing box. I will leave it there, you are doing OK overall.
oh and those two dark hearts for single people means they have a 10 heart event you can only see if you're dating them. You CAN date everyone but you'll want to keep a rabbit's foot on you or they will find out!
You can romance and marry any of the villagers that are single (the ones with two greyed out hearts on the list) you could totally go ahead and get a mod to marry linus though 👀
Just a note to remember for future: there is a funny mod that allows you to have several spouses if you want (immagine Hawk sleeping in a huge bed with Harvey AND Elliot AND Emily or any other girl(s) you like for diversity). But it is best to start with pure vanilla to check how the marriage in this game works. And then, if you like it, go for a heavily modded game in the future. Stardew Valley has a lot of incredible mods, some of them for visuals or QoL, some - funny (like the polyamory one), some - like real huge expansions of the game.
You can do anything in the rain! The only reason it really rains is to water your crops for you and if you ever craft a lightning rod, sometimes you get a battery pack to use for more crafting. You can also use your scythe instead of your axe for all of the weeds.

the battery pack is only in thunderstorms that are excusive to summer (i think)
there’s probably a few things i’m forgetting lol
oh and all festival days are garenteed sunny days

I think I found a new gem of a channel to get behind
Since this is becoming a full time job ever considered streaming another great avenue to go down
On the birthdays you can give person a gift, they will appretiate it more than normally
I love to see a new person get into one of my most favorite games, just try to take it at your own pace, there’s a lot that can be overwhelming. The wiki is your friend 😄

You can marry Harvey! He's pretty underrated but his ten heart event is super cute.

this statement made me audibly laugh for a full minute
If you want to go the animal route you will need some starting money ... If you want you can buy some strawberries on the first event and get some good money from them 🙂
If you want to have the most un-cozy experience, play the arcade games in the saloon. Yes, they're actually real games you can play in the game.
make friends with everyone, even the mean girl. Everyone has a good story line. Shane has one of the best (darkest) stories but he isn't good husband material. He's always my bestie.

a Totally normal reaction to interacting w/ Morris
Going to bed at 7 AM after waking up at 6 AM, real Hawka hours.
As I wrote before, sound was much better this time. For the Community centre go look at that glowing box. I will leave it there, you are doing OK overall.
love the sense of humor 😆

oh and those two dark hearts for single people means they have a 10 heart event you can only see if you're dating them.
I love how you wanna marry everyone 😂😂😂
If you want to, you can marry Harvey and he's definitely one of the best options
0:27 sam is good =(
