Sonic is still heroic and determined to defeat ALWLA (short version) but he is much more aggressive, angry and straight up brutal. He’s still Sonic but more negative.
Yeah, even as a kid, I could feel how raw and brutal this fight was. The rage and sorrow were especially poignant after Shara's death (I could feel Sonic's grief). Plus the way both of their bodies are forcefully mutated is so atypical for a standard "good vs evil" fight.

Alf layla wa-Layla has 4 of the seven rings he has joy, pleasure, wishes and preyers that why he’s incomplete, while sonic has rage, hatred and sadness rings that’s why he’s called darkspine

Put in other words, that who has the correct sacrifice... to put it in a way (will sound weird), takes the body or power or potential to fully wield the power of the rings. i always believed Alf Layla Wa Layla was incomplete because he lacked Sadness, he had great joy and pleasure in getting his wish, the seven rings and likely prayed for such power, he housed a great rage and hatred for sonic and many other people and things but not once did he show any Sadness especially at a time when it was tested most, Shara someone who he likely has known for a long time, he felt nothing when killing her and simply mocked how weak a Genie of the Ring is.
Keep in mind, Sonic *_DESTROYED AN ENTIRE REALITY TRANSFORMING INTO THIS._* Darkspine is canonically the most powerful Sonic transformation, and it’s all accompanied by the most terrifying thing to come out of a Sonic game. *_THAT SCREAM AT _**_4:09_**_._*
Super is still stronger because Super is complete and Darkspine is not, but with only three of the World Rings, he already managed to do this damage, with all the rings, Darkspine would be as strong or even stronger than Hyper.

I always wondered how Sonic was able to fight a nearly all powerful Genie amplified by 4 World Rings, then it hit me. In Sonic Forces, Sonic says he gets more powerful every second. Combine this reactive evolution with the power of the 3 world rings and his power slowly rises over the course of his battle with Erazor, hence his surprised shout "Argh! How can you have this power?!"
Erazor isn't seen as the rightful owner of the rings as he didn't collect them, the 3 Sonic has are being used to full capacity while Erazor's 4 are nerfed.
