Glue is amazingly strong & long lasting. Don't worry about the glue on your '30s Martin--but, do keep it out of direct sunlight or high heat (heat softens the glue).
The reso is completely different, since the bridge isn't glued on. The biscuit bridge is screwed into the cone. So, the measurement and markup uses an entirely different set of tooling & templates.
5 year old comment, I know. But my two cents from just shifting my bridge back so intonation was actually possible: the distance from the 12th fret to the bridge will need to be greater than the distance to the nut (mine was actually shorter by 1/8"). The ratio of the difference is what I got from my acoustic guitar. The bridge/nut ratio was 1.0098. This will differ with bridge/saddle and nut heights where they affect the relief at the 12th fret. Hope that helps anyone in the future. 0:02
unless its a guitar bridge, gcea is too tight for a ukulele wc bridge is so weak n tiny. Thats why i only tune all my ukulele to low dgbe. i like low mellow sound. and its easy n softer for fingers also.
J Man the finish should go on before the bridge. Just be sure to tape the area underneath the bridge first, then apply finish, then remove tape to expose raw wood where bridge will be. Then glue on bridge
MyaMoeUkuleles thanks so much , so I’m good then. I went back and watched your video again and where you said not to glue the bridge on unfinished wood. My problem now is where to put the bridge ? When I sanded it removed the outline of where old bridge was. Is there a schematic or formula for bridge placement in relation to the fret board?
@@westrokker That is incorrect. You do NOT want to glue the bridge on finished wood. You want to glue is on unfinished wood. You might also want to watch the "Birth of a Mya-Moe" series of videos where every aspect of building a Mya-Moe ukulele is detailed. The bridge placement depends on the scale length used when the fretboard was slotted. I don't know the specific scale of a '50s/'60s Harmony Baritone.
Hi Robin, Thanks for asking. You can order a custom built Mya-Moe directly online at myamoeukuleles.com I also usually have a couple of prebuilt instruments available on the website's "Available Now" page under the store menu. Mya-Moe doesn't distribute ukuleles through retailers.
Nice work but we’re you being tongue-in-cheek with the die cut tape? I mean all you needed to do was use the bridge as a template and cut your own. Im going with tongue-in-cheek because you are far too experienced not to know that. Lol
Cameraman, please, focus on the task not the person. I came here to find out how to glue a bridge back on. It made me dizzy going back and forth to the bridge.
I like that straw glue clean up tricks, works really good.. Very informative video.
I always thought there was something more than glue for these bridges, some kind of pin or dowel. Very enlightening. Thanks!
This was something I always wondered about. Thanks, Gordon!
Great vid. Gave me some good tips.
Thanks for a great year - I even had the opportunity to play one of your resonators - a beautiful instrument.
Amazing precision. Thanks, Gordon.
Great trick with the straw. Thanks Gordon.
Yes--these new ones we found are great. Look for the MACH 1 clamp at Lemuel Violins' website (part number 80-M11).
Also thought there was more than glue...interesting....looking at my 1930s Martin and now wondering how long will the glue past...lol!

What glue is used here? I tried using a wood glue on my uke but the bridge came off again.

Thanks for the feedback....I find your videos quite interesting....thx for continuing them!

The straw technique "brilliant"
if you are putting a new bridge on a ukulele how do you find the position of the new bridge?

I don't have soundhole clamps.. what do I use?
You used to used some lighter weight F hole clamps from Atlantic but these look beefier but still fit the uke. What kind are these?
Interesting!
type of glue to use

Oh crap I already put 3 coats of clear laquer on before putting bridge on. Do I need to sand it off before gluing bridge now. ?
