Great choice! Enjoyed this review very much. Many thanks. X-Japan were formed in 1982 by Yoshiki Hayashi (“Yoshiki”) and Toshimitsu Deyama (“Toshi”). Toshi is the (lead) singer, while Yoshiki is both the drummer and pianist: Yoshiki is truly a musical genius. In addition to his X Japan work, he is also a prolific classical composer and pianist (for example, “Endless Rain” and “Without You”, the latter becoming a tribute to Hideto Matsumoto (“hide”) who was both a guitarist and stylist (!) for X Japan and a composer and performer in his own right, who tragically died prematurely on May 2nd 1998. As to the contrast of X-Japan’s Rock / Heavy Metal / Symphonic Music with their “princess” styling, this was a deliberate subversion to “shock” the audience - and the creation of a completely new genre of musical performance- Visual Kei - C-Japan being very much the Pioneers of that genre. Other X-Japan compositions that are an absolute must to listen to to better understand the genius of Yoshiki/Toshi/hide/Pata/Taiji are “Rose of Pain” (circa 10 minutes) and “Art of Life” (circa 30 minutes) - the live versions are amazing!
That was the perfect version to pick as a reaction video!🤘😎🤘 The lyrics are almost everything the band is about and it is a favorite of mine and this video showed why! It is emotional but also hard, as to speak to the core we all have, but push on to not get destroyed by life. Love was definetely lost with hide and Taiji the guitarist and the bass player, both gone to soon!😢 But it also reminds you of the dream, having a concert with all members like you witnessed here and remembering their best times!😊 This video answered a lot for me and I'm going to tell my friends and share this video with them!
