Ah. Intelligent, evidence based, concise report. What a pleasure.

I really liked the analytical perspective on the shoe comparison! Would love to see more of this thought applied to other aspects of athletics.

I noticed these shoes and the dominant runs of the two Olympian winners, two weeks later at the word championships 5 of the top podium places had these shoes on. Check out that race, sprint to the finish. The other companies will be copying ASICS soon enough. I bough a pair of these shoes in June and had my best Olympic distance race in them the beginning of July. they go faster at less of an effort but are not for running slow in, you scuff your feet the sole is so grippy. I found out the hard way on the jog portion of my intervals.

Shoe by country would be interesting, only Brownlee from Team GB wasnt using the New Balance RC Elite
It doesn't surprise me that the Metaspeed Sky was more popular than the Edge, it release much sooner. Athletes were only given, the Metaspeed Sky in April. Those that had to buy them with their own money would have been May/June

Ahh that is interesting - in all honesty I am not sure how much of a gimmick the edge vs sky distinction is, or if there is a meaningful difference!
Interesting to see a few more people using the Pumas recently, Lionel Sanders wore them in the Copenhagen Ironman on the weekend I think.

Real interesting about the sky vs edge. Any idea why you think this is?

Needs to factor in price. Some of those athletes are still choosing their shoes because it is what they can afford, as they aren't buying all the different shoes to try out which is fastest.

    Is this an ASICS commercial?

Hahaha I really wish it was - as I would love a slice of that Asics money. Not a commercial, however based on the results, and the number of athletes who have switched from the nikes I think it is a resounding win for them. We've seen loads of carbon shoes flood the market fairly recently, but the Asics appear to be the only ones that have got a real foothold against nike. Of course, the shoes are only as good as the runner though. I'm not putting on a pair of the metaspeeds and running alongside these guys..
