To me the song feels like a sense of accepting something that is hard to overcome, but with that acceptance there’s peace right afterwards, it gives that feeling of warmth
I don't know what about this song resonates so deeply within me, but I just adore it. Maybe because it's super refreshing to finally hear the cut segment of Great Hidden Sea, one of my favorite songs on this album, or maybe it's the strong sense of conclusion and acceptance that this song exudes
I picture this song with being in the sky, your time has been spent, you are happy but at the same time, you are not, your family just lost you. You lost everything you loved, but in an odd way, you feel at peace knowing they can remember you forever and love you like you’re still there.
this feels like living in a different persons house to the point you start moving your things to their house and the house you used to be in is just empty, eventually you realise something relating to it was sold or someone/something related to it died, and you know you can never return back to the way it once was
Considering this was likely a scrapped ending for AEBBTW, I can't help but feel like the structure of Stage 4 was actually based on the original outline for AEBBTW. The ending of J1 has The Caretaker entering a moment of calm after falling out from the last section to exclusively sample Stage 1-2 tracks, J1SB. The Story Is Lost seems to have a similar approach, with a calm, yet isolated feel and using a sample heard earlier in the album with The Great Hidden Sea Of The Unconscious, similar to Ancient Court Whisperings playing in G1SB, but later playing in J1SD without any surrounding memories.
I don't know why, but evey time I listen to this, it gives me so much "liminal space/ the backrooms" vibes. The song just makes me feel like I'm in an empty place beyond this world.. in total bliss.
Oddly enough, this track isn't in some versions of 'An Empty Bliss Beyond this World' along with "Fleeting Dreams". The samples are found, but these two tracks are never included.
When you are looking back at your childhood memories but you then realize that everything started going downhill just when your childhood was about to end and that you were one of many people who lived in the last of the good days.
We are trapped in the present, the past is only an oily residue in our minds. The future doesn't exist. Right here, right now, is the only thing that's real. But only for a moment.
This was released on The Caretaker's site based subscription service. He released it under "Bonus Tracks #001" under his real name "Leyland Kirby". This and Fleeting Dreams both come from that album. There's a 3rd outtake called End Detections released on something called the AdHoc Comp, a compilation of artist outtakes.
@@youwerethere AdHoc I used to work for back in 2012, 2013-- it was the successor at the time to Altered Zones, I still have comp on tape somewhere, but it's been ages since I listened to it. Solid info, spirit. I didn't know that's where Fleeting Dream and Their Story is Lost originated.
This feels like taking one last look around your now empty childhood home
To me, it feels like visiting your old primary school decades after it's been shut down and mere weeks before it's due to be demolished.
