Very interesting! A point of agreement and then disagreement. If the men in our churches showed great brotherly affection it would be transformative! We should! Unlike headcoverings, where Paul grounded his argument thrice in the creation order, and the church had followed the command for 2000 years, with kisses he does not do this nor has church history universalized the command, afaik
I find it interesting that God did not intend to micromanage churches. There is a lot of latitude in church practices. I actually think that this was a cultural thing and in Western cultures we can substitute our equivalent. Latin cultures may still practice greetings with kisses. I have been reading through Corinthians a lot and it has occurred to me that in the epistles their are moral instructions (applicable to all people in any situation), but many instructions are for governing church practices and for how believers are to act in the church. It is in church practices that we have to look at the purpose and culture to discern how the practices would apply in present-day churches.
I believe it was a tradition in the old days and it wasn't sexual but brotherly. Jesus was betrayed by a kiss so I guess it wasn't inappropriate but brotherly nor sisterly. I still give kisses in these days, it's still a tradition in Haitian family that is gradually disappearing. just like we as man don't wear robes no more, I guess that's why we don't do holly kisses no more.

You mentioned kissing people on the cheek. Is it bad if your mother kisses you and your brother on your lips?
