  • One of the most common problems you see on guitars is when you have a back bow that occurred due to climate changes, and you have a single-action truss rod that reached the point where you want it to make an up bow and it's of course impossible.
Personally, I prefer to change the structure of the neck by installing a dual-action truss rod. In this particular case, the customer is not interested in that, so here is what I'm going to do:
First, I'll take the frets off, then, I will increase the back bow, and then I'll sand it off. This will allow the truss rod to act more like a dual-action truss rod.

Expertly done 👍 👍. Can I ask you how to fix a mahogany neck with rosewood board with too much up-bow (concave) that the truss rod won't level?? I've added washers behind the rod nut and still doesn't straighten/level it enough. Thanks

@@chriskrueger1865 It seems like the neck has a severe warp. It's hard to answer from a great distance. I would start by releasing the truss rod and making some calculations regarding sanding the board. If it requires too much sanding, consider removing the board and
      replacing the truss rod.

@@robertgilmore6273 There's no type of "trick" using heat, steam, etc., you'd suggest I could try before removing the frets? It only needs 2 or 3 64ths more to be fine

@@chriskrueger1865@chriskrueger1865 I don't believe the steaming method; it never lasts more than a few weeks.

So I'm thinking taking out my trussrod, and determining why it's loose, and then either replace or use the same one, pre bend it, then shove it it up in the way it will push the neck in an upbow, then have a guy weald the rod at the point where the anchor usually sits. What do you think of my strategy? It's alot less work right

I'm not sure it will work, but let me know if you had a success. if your neck is B flex, try to turn it the other way, and it should create a relief, by pressing the plug. good luck
