Early Season 13er | Mt Flora

On Memorial Day (5/27) a friend and I set off to summit 13er Mt Flora via neighboring 12er Colorado Mines Peak. This is one of the easier 13ers to climb in winter or early in the season since the trailhead is right off of Berthoud Pass. I've done this hike several other times and the views never get old! The trail switchbacks up a road to Colorado Mines Peak and at the time still had a decent amount of snow on it. A little bit above tree line and the snow mainly went away, at least on west facing slopes. There's a summer route that bypasses CO Mines Peak altogether but it was a bit too snowy for us. I drove past Berthoud Pass this weekend (mid June) and it's looking a lot more like summer up there already.

Beautiful! What time of year was this hike? Did you happen to walk down to Breckenridge Peak from Mt. Flora? If so, what was that stretch of trail like?

This was on Memorial day about a month ago. I bet it's pretty dry by now. I didn't do that one just Colorado Mines and Flora.
