This reminds me of my old Yaesu FT-2000 speaker. It is a big box of air, not even the dampening material. I added the Phonema material inside and it did help a little, nothing to write home about.
@@geod3589 Hi,yes a box full of air is a good description 👌, but my Yeasu sp 9000 is a bigger box filled with more air, but I found the kit to be a big improvement, less booming bass and more clarity 👍🏻 ,73s from Rotterdam 🙏
Thank you for doing this video! I wanted to know how this speaker was built and what was inside. Its about what I expected, as it has a lot of wasted space inside. I think it could be at least half the length and a third of the price for what it is. Great video!
Hi,thanks for your comments, the speaker was made for a bigger radio, but it sounded very good, and built well, sometimes a large speaker box can improve the sound quality, but not always, thanks from Rotterdam 73.
Hi,good idea 💡,what i found when I put the damping cover more secure over the speaker, it improved the sound, hopefully i can upgrade to a better quality speaker, maybe something with a built-in amp, good quality stereo computer speakers, cheap second-hand, thanks from Rotterdam 73.
Hi,hope you had many good contacts, it's worth all the effort when it's good propagation 👍,here in Rotterdam spoke with Turkey, Istanbul 2 times, a first for me, but for the rest very quiet, 73 from Rotterdam. 😷😷
Does this speaker line up in height with an ic-7300 or ic-9700? Hard to tell by pictures I've seen. Your video doesn't show it sitting side by side with either of those transceivers, so it's hard to tell how they would look together.
Hi, the sp 23 is made for another model, it's higher than the Icom, but I thought bigger the better, I try not to put anything close to the radio, QRM,problems, thanks 73👍👍
I don't understand why amateur radio speakers are so expensive whether they are made by yaesu, icom, diamond, or whatever companies. Probably because of their unique technology of adjusting the sound balance for communications only? I have a SP-2000 of which almost hollow inside, hollow but pricy. That drives me to make a plan for purchasing enough waddings and sticking them onto the inner side of the case in order to elinimate bad resonances. Frankly to say, I expect the sound from this speaker will be crystal clear for communication after my modification, but it will still not sufficient for enjoying listening to AM radio because the limination of fidelity defined by the manufacture.
Hi,yes I agree, maybe amateur radio speaker are not mass-produced,,,and also the quality one's do reproduce audio very well,,,,,my Yaesu sp 9000 is very good with the quiet stations,,,,,and also excellent with other stations,,,,sometimes you get what you pay for,,,,good luck with that 👍,,73 from Rotterdam, ps I use fm and ssb,,,

Lines up perfect next to the 7610 / 9100
@@Sky1I have both of those radios but I sit the SP-23 on a shelf above them where it runs through my ClearSpeech DSP Speaker.
