It installs an Epic Games service on your PC despite buying it on Steam apparently, gonna pass on this one despite buying the first one on Steam forever ago.
95% of games on Steam use EOS because it's better than Steamworks: cross-save, cross-play, better stats tracking, better server management and it's free. Valve needs to improve its services.
