Victory Monument has been a hub of Bangkok public bus for decades. If you want to go somewhere and don't know where to start, this is the place to begin. On the West side of the monument, there are a lot of public hospitals and pharmacy stores. Good place to look for your medications and also good prices.

There are four famous boat noodles areas. First, at the Victory Monument, second is at Ratchadumri road used to be in front of the Central World by the klong san sap pier, now some of them moved out or moved in to Big C and Central World. The third area is the place up North called Rungsit where a lot of them actually in big boats along Rungsit canal that you can get on and eat on the boat. The forth one is Ayutthaya boat noodles. This one you can find everywhere in Ayutthaya town center area.

You've chosen the right noodle shop. Although I'm not sure if this shop is the oldest in the Victory Monument area or not. But what I am sure of is that it was more than 20 years ago when I was in school. This shop is very popular among students. If I remember correctly, the price at that time was no more than 10 baht per bowl of noodles. And there is a promotion for students to eat at a discount and eat up to a certain number of bowls and get a free liter-sized Pepsi. I remember that the table you were sitting at was in the same area where I normally sat and the water in the canal at that time was not as clean as it is now. So at that time I didn't think that the smell of the noodles was as good as you said because the smell of the water in the canal was mixed with it. Funny joke story.

Please allow me to recommend the correct way to eat Khao Soi for both of you as follows. First of all, pickled vegetables and shallots that the restaurant provided in a small cup must be poured into a bowl of Khao Soi first. And finally, followed by squeezing lemon into the end. Then stir all the ingredients together. then can eat All these steps are seasoned to cut the greasyness from the coconut milk curry in the Khao Soi bowl.
