And was tipper gore who was trying to cancel music that said things she didn't like. Who would have thought 40 years later this is more a conservative topic 😊
Back when MTV played music videos, artists would do elaborate videos like this because a good video got more airtime so people heard the song more. The actor in this video (the Dad) played a similar character in the movie Animal House.
The actor playing the hard-nosed father played a similar role in 'Animal House' as military cadet commander Neidermeier. At the end of the movie, his character outline was 'Killed In Viet Nam by his own troops. And to add another link, the movie 'House' includes a group of GI's who've gotten hopelessly lost in the jungles of Viet Nam. As they trudge past, one of them says "I told ya we shouldn't have fragged Lieutenant Neidermeier."
It's also his speech from the movie almost word for word. Also Dee Snider was a big fan of animal house, so something from that movie is in nearly every song TS made.
Hey A, hahaha, this should be fun...These guys were awesome, their fight for musicians anaginst the Parents Music Resource Center and vice pres wife Tipper Gore was epic. So many parents wanted Rock music banned cause they said it was devils music, made u lazy, etc. 80s Glam rock days. Thanx for the memories, Peace
There’s actually a movie about the congressional committee hearings that led to the Parental Advisory labels, that the singer Dee Snider gave great testimony, it’s called Warning:Parental Advisory released in 2002 on VH1
huge back story from the 80s involved many bands but Prince -Darling Nikki got Tipper Gore's panties in a bunch, it led to congressional hearings, the PMRC & the "FILTHY 15" ..(mentioned in Cinderella - "Shelter Me"
If you ever see the movie ANIMAL HOUSE the father played the ROTC leader who was extremely gung ho. Dee Snyder, the lead singer is a huge fan of the movie and got him to play the same character 20 years after the movie for this song and their other hit I WANNA ROCK music videos.
I suppose this was their most popular song, but I was always partial to "I wanna Rock!" Of course the most complete realization of any Twisted Sister song and, just possibly, the best cover of any song, ever, would be of course "I'm a Goofy Goober". If you've heard that, you know.
Omg!!! This came out when I was in high school. & maaaaan it was outrageous outta control! 😳 🤣🤣🤣 most of our parents were low key like that. Yes, 80's. Best music EVER! 😉🙃🥰
Yeh that band is from the 80s. That lead singers name Is Dee Snyder and contrary to most bands of that era he did no drugs and is happily married family man.👍
Dee Snyder did a slowed down version worth checking out. These guys are the reason warnings were added added to music because to spite never cussing in music they were censored so Dee went to the Senate floor to fight for every musicians right to express themselves through their art. Now censorship steps in, before that music was pulled from shelves and radio.
This dude is an amazing guy 😮 this band was huge. I saw someone recommended Dee Snyder singing the slowed down version of this song I really hope you react to it ❤
I’m showing my age but this song came out when I was in 6th grade. My English teacher made everyone lip sync a song in front of the class. This is the song I did. 😂
The "father" is an actor that appeared in the movie "Animal House".... and one of his lines in the movie was about a pledge pin on another guys uniform. Check out the movie some time.
I grew up on this, and the lead singer Dee Snider actually testified before a congressional hearing that ultimately led to the parental advisory labels on albums but he gave an intelligent testimony that shocked them
Adogg this is one of the best music videos of all time (Douglas c me is a teacher put his kids through school forgetting many details here) one of best music vids. Exceptional teen angst. This song still relevant. Nice job.
To truly understand the character of “Dad” Douglas C. You must watch Animal House. The same actor played Douglas C Niedermeyer. The ROTC guy that tormented Flounder.
The father is Douglas Neidermeyer from the movie Animal House. Great movie from 1978. You should check it out. It's about a drunken party frat house, starring John Belushi.
These guys were my favorite band back 40 years ago when this song was released as a single. Saw them with Iron Maiden and W. A S. P. back then and again from the "40 & F@ck It " tour.
This is an extension of the movie Animal House.. He played a character named Douglas C Needlemeyer lol... he was just like this in that movie.. In this video he is now older and married.. it's hilarious... Great reaction.
The lead singer Dee Snider later became a radio DJ and it was his radio show that told me that the first plane hit the twin towers when I was living in New York just outside of New York City on Long Island. I put on my morning show Dee Snider every morning and it was the most surreal moment of my life.
You're a Kupp fan from the Northwest(Central Washington) so you should know this song was based off Neidemier from the movie Animal House filmed on the University of Oregon in the 70's. His famous line is "Is that a pledge pin on your uniform?"!!! Before Jim Belushi blew up the town!!!!
Since you're going down the rabbit hole check out their song and video to you can't stop rock and roll or I want to rock they had a bunch of good songs when they were out
This song was on the Stay Hungry Album, I believe in 1984. Probably their biggest album. If you want a better feel for TWISTED SISTER" the first 2 albums, can't kill rock and roll and under the blade are a little more raw. The second single (video) from this album " I wanna Rock" (which is what the kid says to the father before the guitar chord blows him out the window) was also a funny video. Twisted Sister is often referred to as an 80's band, which is probably because this song being their first major label hit. But on Long Island and the rest of the NY tristate suburban area. Twisted was huge since the 70s, they were the biggest club band, had concerts played live on local radio. They actually had also built up a following overseas, their first album was from England. People who only know them from the 80s lump them in with the hair metal genre. But they actually predate hair metal, they were more like a mixture of garage/biker band/glam /theatrical rock. They were more like KISS, Alice Cooper and the NY Dolls. Infect the founder and guitarist JJ French had auditioned for the KISS predecessor Wicked Lester. As others have commented the "Father " in the video is based on a character in the movie Animal House and played by the same actor. Twisted Sister obviously has a few Movie influences in some of their songs. The clinking Glass Bottles and chant on the song "Come Out and Play" is based on a scene in the 70s gang film the warriors. on the "Stay Hungry Album " is another multi song piece called the "Horror-Teria (The Beginning)' it has 2 sub parts " Captain Howdy" and "Street Justice" which bears a lot of resemblance to the plot of How the Freddy Kruger Character in "Nightmare on Elm Street " came to be. As hard as Twisted Rocks, they also have some really cool ballads; "Your Not Alone" is a love song Dee Snider wrote about his wife, but what is cool is that the other ballads are more about personal feelings when striving for goals , in "the Price" or I believe in You". Obviously Twisted Sister is probably one of my favorite bands , I find that a lot of their songs are about believing in yourself when trying to reach goals. ("Were Gonna make it", The Price" I Believe in you, " I am I'm Me" Stay Hungry) Also their music is great workout music , especially weight training, the rhythm of were not gonna take it is perfect for doing Clean and presses.
Check out I wanna rock also by twisted sister it is funny too. Same mean guy too. I believe what he is saying in both music videos is from a movie called animal house. The same mean guy is in Animal House as well. I love this song.
@@darealadogg Twisted Sister was a Glam Rock Band popular from the early to mid 1980's. Twisted Sister was inspired by a Glam Rock Band of the 1970's called the Brooklyn Dolls who's lead singer David Johansen went on to popularity in the 1980's as a solo artist under the stage name of Buster Poindexter modeled after Desi Arnes a.k.a. "Ricky Ricardo" of the TV Show "I Love Lucy".
Hey there Rambro. Rams fan since ‘75 here. But anyway, Twisted Sister was incredible. This song, I Wanna Rock, Come Out And Play, their version of Leader Of The Pack. Anything off of Stay Hungry and Come Out And Play is awesome as is their older stuff. Would’ve loved to have seen them. They played 50 miles away in 1984 and I had $ for a ticket but couldn’t find a ride unfortunately
If you like this song, and want to hear a lot more from this style, watch the movie Rock Of Ages. So much great music , great homage to a great era of music. I think you will love it.
Dee snider directed a movie called strangeland and in once there was a mob of people and someone had a protest sign that said we're not going to take it lol
As for the Carpenters, listen to Yesterday once More, Close to You, We've only just Begun. Also try Michael Jackson's One day in your Life, it reminds you of their songs
Welcome to one of the most hardest working underrated bands of all time, the lead singer dee Snider is a lawyer and fought in congress for free speech.
If you watch the movie pee wees big adventure they have a little cameo like they're filming a video. These guys are fun. Dee is awesome. His wife had the first trike (however its spelled) motorcycle that I've ever seen. Fell in love with that immediately. They have a beautiful family. He also makes a cameo in cobra kai season 3

This song was screaming out of every radio when it was released!!! Every parents nightmare!!!🎵🎼🎶🥁🎸🎧🎹🎙🤘🤘🤘
School bus drivers were not that crazy about it either. Twisted Sister and Van Halen were school bus priorities.
The actor playing the hard-nosed father played a similar role in 'Animal House' as military cadet commander Neidermeier. I love, love, love this song!! Dee and the crew did a phenomenal job!! ❤️🎶
Twisted Sister has allowed Ukraine to use this song for their soldiers morale.
I just recently read that Dee's grandfather was Ukrainian before it was swallowed up by the USSR after WW2.
Remember...MUSIC is the Weapon!
Another priceless reaction from you....your like a kid on Christmas morning.....right on!!!!!!

I got to see Twisted Sister in concert in the '80's. They were loads of fun, and they are really incredible musicians.
If you ever see the movie ANIMAL HOUSE the father played the ROTC leader who was extremely gung ho. Dee Snyder, the lead singer is a huge fan of the movie and got him to play the same character 20 years after the movie for this song and their other hit I WANNA ROCK music videos.

This song and video. Never gets old!!!

Dee Snyder the lead singer did another version of this for childhood cancer. It is absolutely beautiful. It's just Dee Snyder and a piano
At 58 yrs. I still rock out to this one! Rock on!!

Yeah, Dee was quite eloquent in his sleeveless T-shirt responding to smarmy Tipper Gore's snide comments about the band & heavy metal in general.
The slowed down version is really good
He also did a version about child cancer- brings tears to the eyes watching it
They need to play this more often today!
This was so much fun. Thanks for reacting and I glad you liked it. So now you know who Twisted Sister is...
This dude is an amazing guy 😮 this band was huge. I saw someone recommended Dee Snyder singing the slowed down version of this song I really hope you react to it ❤
There is a video of Dee Snyder singing the song in a gentle way with a boy dealing with cancer. It is beautiful.
That actoor played a character on Animal House in the 80s. This is the same character, complete with spitting while he talks.
I loved watching Dee Snider tear up that ass when he was brought before congress to speak on behalf of free speech. It's on UA-cam somewhere.
There is an entire generation grew up on metal/ heavy metal /hard rock,,,,, and this is a song we all know every word🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I’m showing my age but this song came out when I was in 6th grade. My English teacher made everyone lip sync a song in front of the class. This is the song I did. 😂
The 80s music 😂❤
This was a great video, the song came out in 1984, I was either 12 or 13, great times.
Listen to anything by them. Kickass rock and roll supreme !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🤪
The lead singer Dee Snyder testified in front of congress regarding censorship of music lyrics. He turned out to be the smartest person in the room..
Yeah! Both him and Mr Rogers! Maybe not for the same thing "They" were trying to change.
LOVE THIS SOOOOOO MUCH!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
This was the 80's and they were silly.
The video for their song I Wanna Rock has the same dad in it. He is a mean school teacher by day. So funny. Great reaction!!
Check out
Horror-Teria (The Beginning) A)Captain Howdy B) Street Justice

TS is definitely one of the iconic bands of the 80s. Love them or hate them, everybody knew them.
To truly understand the character of “Dad” Douglas C. You must watch Animal House. The same actor played Douglas C Niedermeyer. The ROTC guy that tormented Flounder.
"I Wanna' Rock" should be next Adogg!
YES! I was in 7th grade when I first heard this song, and I was like YOU CAN SAY THAT?! Loved metal ever since.
Twisted Sister so much fun
The father is Douglas Neidermeyer from the movie Animal House. Great movie from 1978. You should check it out. It's about a drunken party frat house, starring John Belushi.
This is the kind of music that never stops getting people riled up when they listen.
the "I Wanna Rock" video is also a must watch 🤘
These guys were my favorite band back 40 years ago when this song was released as a single. Saw them with Iron Maiden and W. A S. P. back then and again from the "40 & F@ck It " tour.
Also saw both of those tours, W.A.S.P. was a heavy fav of mine and TS was so in your face, they were TOO FUN concerts!
I think this song was the anthem of its time..

Back in my day I blew my speakers out with this! 😂

Such a great teenager rebellion song back in the day!
one of my favorite videos! have everything!
You definitely can’t appreciate this song or video to its potential without seeing the movie “Animal House“
The Main Event in Jersey
This is tied into the movie Animal House. A great comedy. That’s Douglas Niedemier
This song came out in 1984!!

it rides true with many things.
I used sing this to my mother , with a wall or Three between us😂😂😂
My first concert
They were trying to sensor and rate music.
Dee Snyder went before Congress and made them look like fools.
Completely out classed them!
It’s incredible
Miss music videos so much! Back when MTV played music videos 24 hours a day
Check out I wanna rock also by twisted sister it is funny too. Same mean guy too. I believe what he is saying in both music videos is from a movie called animal house. The same mean guy is in Animal House as well. I love this song.
Such a banger. I had this on cassette 😂
Love your content!!! 🎉

Dee has a son who's 40, and as you can see, Dee is probably in his 30s when he did this song. He's now 67, you do the math!! LOL
this was my high school graduation class song...class of 1985...
Hey there Rambro.
Rams fan since ‘75 here.

The allusions like “pin on your uniform” will make sense if you watch “Animal House,” one of the funniest comedies ever made.
I love this song
Badass band that should have been way bigger. The video starts with the guy from animal house that played Neidemire .
You are right highly underrated band
This song was for the teens in the 80's i was a member
If you like this song, and want to hear a lot more from this style, watch the movie Rock Of Ages. So much great music , great homage to a great era of music. I think you will love it.
You have to see the movie Animal House to understand the father’s character.
Dee did a acoustic version of this song that is really good.
Welcome to the 1980's my friend, and really wild time in musical history.
To get a better grasp on what the Father is about you have to check out " National Lampoon's Animal House". That's where this character came from.
Dee snider directed a movie called strangeland and in once there was a mob of people and someone had a protest sign that said we're not going to take it lol
They put that man through hell, I'm dying of laughter

Fun fact: In Yiddish, Twisted Sister are known as 'Geflochtene Schwester'.
The hymn of rebels. 🤘
Oh, no, not Twisted Sister!! We dint know what to make of them in the 80s!

This and “I wanna Rock” are there more ‘cheesy’ songs... much of their really good stuff is among their unknown tracks... I’d love to see you check some of those out-
The Beast
Stay Hungry
The Price
Kill or Be Killed
The Fire Still Burns
Under the Blade
Like a Knife in the Back
But the one you really need to look at is this “two-part” song titled Horror Terria
Part 1 : Captain Howday
Part 2 : Street Justice
Be sure to pull up the lyrics when looking at these and other metal tracks... many times there are deep meanings in them that can be better understood with the lyrics at hand..
Watch Dee Snyder, the lead singer, address a congressional hearing about musical content and put them in their place.
check out the video how twisted sister outclassed congress
It that a pledge pin on your uniform!!!!!!
this video proves that Niedermyer was not fragged by his men in Vietnam, as theorized by
Animal House.
Can't listen to I Wanna Rock anymore without thinking about Cobra Kai and Miguel's tapping foot.
