Don't know what country you are in - Aus ? Here in the UK the pozidrive (PZ) is far more popular than phillips. They are better as the have extra flutes between the 4 main wings - similar to phillips but the extra flutes give more head-driver contact. Although the bits look similar they are not really compatible between phillips and pozi as the phillips bit will not fit in a pozi screw well. At the moment Torx (star) screws are becoming more popular. The square drive you mentioned is a 'Robertson' scew named after the inventor a Canadian engineer. Don't see them in the UK unless you buy from specialist suppliers but they are apparently pretty good.
Got a job that got me puzzled client burglar gate screw by the hinge came loose got no clue about screws for metal. Probably will have to by some tomorrow
Great video although I’m sure the self tapping screw is the pointed one with a notch in the thread and the screw shaped like a drill bit is actually a ‘self drilling’ screw. Can anyone confirm please?
Hi Bill, Great info. I am trying to joint a 45mm timber board with a 35mm steel square tube parallelly. Is it better to drill from the wood to the steel or the otherway around? Also what should be the length of the screws. 75 mm good enough?. I will be using the self drilling screw as you demonstrated. In general when you are pre drilling, what should be the drill size compare to the screw guage inorder to create a tight bond without splitting the timber?
In the UK we have PZ screws, they look like Phillips to the untrained eye, but actually have 8 contact points. most people don't know this and so they use the wrong bit on their driver and it rounds the pz head off.
I’ve been wondering what those drill attachments were for in my attachment kit. Also I find sometimes the speed of the drill and using wrong setting can have big impact on attachments.
If you're trying to drill a screw in stainless steel I'm assuming you would need another stainless steel screw to use that way nothing rusts. But do you think you could tell me what type of screw I would need something short to put into a stainless steel beaker?
Great video. I have a question: what will happen if I use wood screw against a steel plate? I am drilling my pull up bar. Just realized my door frame is made of steel.
The Phillips heads are nit one size fits all. Match the driver to the head and its night n day easier to not strip em out or slip out of em. Also, make sure its actually a Phillips head and not the other type that closely resembles it but has the other little grooves at 45° in each quadrant
Might be worth pointing out that the screws with a head, like the button screw, are designed for when you want the screw to hold something down, like a sheet of metal for example.
Super helpful man. Can you confirm if I wanted to screw some plywood to that steel post you screwed into. I would use the same screw you used? I know, im an idiot lol. So steel self tap screw through the wood?
It's pretty easy to tell just by looking at them.. tape measure will take any of the guess work in regards to length, head and thread pattern should tell you everything else you need to know 🤷♂️
The amount of times I've cut up my hands or ruined whatever I'm doing with a flat head by either the drill slipping from the screw groove is ridiculous. THOSE THINGS SHOULDN'T EXIST 🙄
You're overstating the issue with the slotted screw that you're calling a flathead screw. Incorrect terminology. It requires the proper driver and a sane person to drive it properly.
Earned a like early with that "slotted screws are useless"... Amen brother!
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC PRESENTATION !!!!!!! EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO KNOW. THANKS FOR POSTING !!!!!!!!!!
Wow. This really helped me a ton. Thanks Daniel Ricardo!

Great video mate, informative and easy to understand, keep up the good work, looking forward to for next instalment 👍 👍 👍

Thanks so much. I learn a lot from this video.
Thanks so much! Very educational. Will save me time and money.
Excellent. Thanks.
Great job thank you
Nice video with ways to carry out a way to earn money.
EXCELLENT - thank you
Very good
Very informative, answered my question
Torx FTW! I’m a knife enthusiast and most pocket knives use T6 fasteners. Nothing worse trying to extract a stripped knife fastener :(
Got a job that got me puzzled client burglar gate screw by the hinge came loose got no clue about screws for metal. Probably will have to by some tomorrow
Thank you so much. This was very helpful.
so helpful thank you!
Hi, great video. Can you list the other materials used as well? The drill and the drill bits set.
thanks, very helpful
Great video although I’m sure the self tapping screw is the pointed one with a notch in the thread and the screw shaped like a drill bit is actually a ‘self drilling’ screw. Can anyone confirm please?
I believe so, the self tap is only meant for tapping threads in existing hole vs self drilling will drill the hole and tap the threads

Always looking for a good screw 😛
Nice information
Great video and super helpful! Cheers.
what screw should i use to drill threw wood first then drywall and then anchor to aluminum i,m putting up curtains
Great information!
Where do i get those buddon heads?
Hi, I still have no idea how to join a thin metal bracket on a 1.5mm thickness of wood and which screws to use. Could please tell me how?
If you're trying to drill a screw in stainless steel I'm assuming you would need another stainless steel screw to use that way nothing rusts. But do you think you could tell me what type of screw I would need something short to put into a stainless steel beaker?
As always a nice video, thanx Bill! Love your channel :) Cheers from Holland
Thank you 👍
Great video. I have a question: what will happen if I use wood screw against a steel plate? I am drilling my pull up bar. Just realized my door frame is made of steel.
It won’t go through the steel. Create a pilot hole first and you should be able to get it through 👍👍

Nice vid. I'm planning to fit a privacy screen to a galvanized gate but I am not 100% sure which screw to use. Can you guide me please?
Use the metal self tapping screw
Thanks!
What do you use when attaching metal sheets to wood studs?
same question

Super helpful man. Can you confirm if I wanted to screw some plywood to that steel post you screwed into. I would use the same screw you used? I know, im an idiot lol. So steel self tap screw through the wood?
We are all forever learning. Self tapping metal screw for going into wood the metal will work fine 👍
prefer the metal screws for roof sheets to wood rafters......the sharp tip ones tend to woble before catching.
So you use metal screws if you are screwing through metal to wood?
@@crazyrees23 yep there are the metal to wood ones and metal to metal....
are there hex head wood screws
Yes 👍
Hey Bill... what kind of drill is that one?
Cheers
It’s the Milwaukee m18 gen 3 fuel 👍
Billshowto thanks
Anything that can self drill/self tap into a had 1/4" steel like the lip of Fence T-Post?
What about when you drill through metal to wood?
I think use 2types of screws, if wood is the first material u need to go thru then after it has done so change to matal screw
why didn't he use pilot holes?
what drill are you using ?
Milwaukee impact driver gen 3 fuel
I’m making a stadium, so I’m looking for a metal screw
What about wood to metal screws?
Problem with storage boxes. You dont have the package they came with all the info about the screw.
It's pretty easy to tell just by looking at them.. tape measure will take any of the guess work in regards to length, head and thread pattern should tell you everything else you need to know 🤷♂️
I'm hoping the Philips head becomes obsolete.
Philips drive is designed to slip to prevent over torque, little known fact.
I don't think over torque is a issue that would defeats it's purpose and design.
The amount of times I've cut up my hands or ruined whatever I'm doing with a flat head by either the drill slipping from the screw groove is ridiculous.
THOSE THINGS SHOULDN'T EXIST 🙄
yallah

Why do you have to yell?
What screw to use? Let's first waste the first half of the video not telling you what screw to use! Why not?
