I first heard this music when I was 15 tears old. I got the piano music for in and immediately began to learn it. I'm now 68 and this is the loveliest version I have ever heard. She is magnificent!
This is the Opera I would introduce to someone who knows nothing about Opera. Beautiful lady, music, young love and tragedy. It has it all.
I also would like more people could understand the beauty and the power of the opera.
I 💗 opera so much because every possible kind of human passion and feeling has been represented in the operas,
with lyrics, music and acting on stage all together at the same time. For example this Musetta's aria from Boheme is about female vanity and seduction. And is so beautiful and seductive. I 💗 Puccini so much.
I started loving opera with a collection of famous arias, i liked the music at first but the strong and overwhelming passions and emotions these arias were inspiring made me curious to understand how and why these characters were so in love, desperate, jealous, hungry, tender and so on...
... and I ended up buying records and DVDs of the full operas, and spending hours in listening these wonderful stories and following all the words in the libretto while listening. When someone finds me criyng while I sit down on the sofa wearing headphones all alone at 2:00 AM it's because of Puccini. 😭😄
It takes some effort to understand the opera but it's absolutly worth.

I understand exactly how you feel because the same thing happened to me. To opera specifically Lucia Di lammermoor from there I graduated until I have every that Puccini composed! I persevered until I had even the private collections that Puccini never published I managed to lay my hands on. 30 end of the day I have my Heroes full acoustic output.
That all came out wrong. I have his entire musical output now and not a day goes by that I don't enjoy every single note that reverberates through my home his soaring melodies speak for themselves and no matter what that man wrote it was exquisite. My own last wish is for my friends to play the Vissi D'arte by both Caballè and Callas.... My life will then be complete!
There was something about this evening... I never saw Anna look more beautiful or sing more beautiful before or after this occasion, truly.

Check out her performance for Opera World in this huge stadium. Dressed in a gorgeous sultry red dress she steps back from the microphone about 2/3 way through and the audience could still hear the full force of her astounding delivery of this beautiful aria! It is breathtaking!

This aria requires a young pretty and flirty soprano to make it credible in the romantic Musetta’s role in La Boheme. I’ll listen to Anna Netrenko’s lovely feminine delivery of this sweet aria with heartfelt warmth and never a critical thought enters my mind. I think Anna owns this! ❤️

Talk about women empowerment. Musetta has had the world at her feet for decades ever since the opera premiered in 1896.
Netrebko is perfect for the role: dazzling, gorgeous, so self-confident; just one furtive glance and one disarming smile suffice to bewitch us, forcing us all to hold our breath for three minutes, in awe and admiration, hoping the waltz never ends. Stunning peformance.
She is not only a magnificent singer but she is absolutely gorgeous!

It's at this very moment, having just watched Ms. Netrebko singing "Musetta's Waltz" so beautifully, that I've fallen in love with opera for the first time! Until now, I never cared for it, though in the last year or so I was beginning to come around, slowly but surely. This clip, however, clinched the deal!
I discovered her quite by accident! Amazing voice. Wasn’t much for opera myself either but I’ve expanded somewhat now! You may also enjoy aida garifullina if you haven’t discovered her yet and Patricia janekova. :)

The singer is Mirella Freni, who was one of the greatest sopranos in the 1960's into 1970's. In "La Boheme" here she is singing the lead role, Mimi. In the clip above, Anna Netrebko is playing the vamp cameo of "Musetta", the young flirt.
For the clip below, the set up is that Mimi and her circle of friends are dirt poor, living in tiny, freezing apartments in Paris in the 1890's or so. They are all kids, in their late teens and early 20's, and she meets this poet, whom she likes, but she is meek and underconfident. Listen how the music is slow and downbeat when she talks with him about her mundane life, as they suffer a bitter winter in Paris. But in each refrain, she fantasizes about the warmth of spring (a metaphor for better times). Listen how the music soars at 1:20 and 2:59 to reflect her inner dreams and hopes. In opera at its best, the music reveals the characters' emotions. Anyone not completely drawn in at 3:13, "April's first kiss is mine!" should donate their ears to someone who can put them to better use! Freni is effortlessly divine.
