Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) Model 1918

The Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) Model 1918 was designed by John M Browning and prototypes were demonstrated in February 1917. Orders were placed in July 1917 with the guns manufactured by Colt, Winchester and Marlin-Rockwell. Delivery started in February 1918 and were shipped to France in June 1918. However, they were not used in combat until September of that year, some 48 days before the Armistice. BARs, with very little modification were used in WW2, Korea, and in the Vietnam war. Imagine if they used this concept of the BAR operating mechanic to make a weapon which is chambered in .308. Imagine a very smoothing full auto shooting with full rifle cartridge with the lowest of recoil while being catagorized as "Assault Rifle" insead of "Browning Automatic Rifle".

My dad carried a similar one from France, Belgium and Germany. Heavy as hell. He said they threw them damned bipods away. WW2 of course.

Very easy but vivid. I can understand why people said Browning was a genius. When I was in military. I had chance to use Browning M2MG which had very complicated parts. M2 was always bothering me when I assemble and didisassemble it.
