I enjoyed the knob molding. Might give that a try. You did a nice job on the radio. Those white specks on the case are from insect excretion. They show up on pretty much everything that was stored in a basement, storage unit or barn. Your silverfish friend that showed up probably had a large family. I thought for the longest time that the white specks were from paint spattering occurring while someone had their house or apartment painted. It shows up on metal chassis that were sealed by the outer casings. It etches, so it's almost impossible to remove from metal. Subscribed...
The rectifier tube was bad, and after replacing it the radio hummed badly indicative of bad electrolytic caps. After replacing these the unit played fine after an alignment.
Before the electrolytics were replaced I noticed the new rectifier tube was glowing more intense indicating a mild short due to leaky electrolytics I was just wondering if you noticed the more intense glow and after they were replaced it was not glowing so intense. They were high ESR and also mildly shorted. That may have been why the rectifier was open. You're a great technician and you did a fantastic job repairing that radio I'm not criticizing I'm just telling what I noticed it doesn't really matter its fixed just making conversation.
Nice job on that clock radio.

Greetings: ihe clock motor grease needs heat to loosen the grease; a soldering iron can be used to heat the smallest portion of the clock motor case.
The clock could have radium paint, which can be checked with a geiger counter. Would be an interesting discussion topic too.
I almost bought a docimeter this weekend!! I didn’t think about that paint possibility
Hi Kent how are you. What do you notice about the rectifier tube before and after replacing the electrolytics

Yes. Filament was okay. Zero emissions.good catch.
Mine was missing one of the little knobs also, I 3d printed one with clear resin and tinted it yellow
Great! How did it turn out?
@KOVintageTech other than a very slight difference in the shade of the color it's an exact match.
