One Of The Greatest Cruise Ship Shore Excursions Of All Time!

- While in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, I experienced one of the best cruise ship shore excursions out of all of the 48 cruises I've been on. I had a lot of fun at the Blue Hole, jumping off the rocks and in to the water... which was a lot warmer than I expected.
After a long adventure at the Blue Hole, we went to the top of Mystic Mountain for a ride on one of Jamaica's top tourist attractions: the Jamaican bobsled ride.
Our ride on the bobsleds was the first time we had ever been on an alpine coaster, similar to a roller coaster, but much smoother. It was a thrilling ride!

Thanks for showing your experience on the island of Jamaica. This was an absolutely beautiful video. I recently watched a fellow vlogger completely trash this island and showed pics of locals in local areas. Then continue to urge people of the reason why you should not get off the boat for shore excursions in Jamaica. This is a shore excursion that I would love to go on during my next trip there. Looks like you had a great time. What a contrast, this is how to cruise.

I watched that same video in my You Tube feed, and so many people commented- "we dont even get off the ship in Jamaica"!!! I dont understand paying $$$ to cruise to a Caribbean Island, but then you're too afraid to get off the ship??? 😲 This video showing the Blue Hole, the lift-ride thru the rainforest & bobsled ride in Jamaica is great!!! Makes ME want to go there!!!!! 👏 🏞
Jim, i really like these videos, especially the Blue Hole, as a Tour Operator here, i always introduce my guest to Blue Hole I hope i can be your Tour Operator, certainly i would take you to even some more cooler spots, Bamboo Beach, Rafting on the Rios Grande, are Rios Blanco, etc.

On a cruise to Jamaica, you have a long list of shore excursions to chose from... and you'll see tours to the blue hole and the bobsled on the list.
You began the vlog with the ending music! I loved the Jamaican bobsled in Jamaica too! I really loved this excursion!
The first time I went to Jamaica on a cruise, I did this excursion. To this day it is my favorite, along with cenotes in Mexico. It’s great to see comments back too.

Thanks for sharing this. We love cruising but haven't found an excursion that was really neat. We were suppose to here where you are in Jamaica. They changed us to Montego Bay. What a disappointment. Now I NEED to book for here again and hope we get there. We are 63 young and do so enjoy an andventure

Great video Jim - have you seen the film ‘Like Father’ on Netflix? It’s shot on board Harmony of The Seas and the characters visit the Blue Hole in one of their excursions.
I have seen that movie, although I had forgotten the Blue Hole scene. I may have to go back and watch that one again some time.

Jim, was it $90 to do both the Blue Hole and Bobsleds or $90 for the Blue Hole and $90 for the Bobsleds? We are taking 5 of our grandkids. Is it less expensive for minors?

Amazing video, that looks beautiful. Have you ever done a Disney Cruise? I think you’d love them. Believe it or not, they cater well to adults.
Maybe someday. Their cruises seem pricey to me, like everything Disney is. The other cruise lines seem to be a better value to me. I do understand they have adults-only areas, but it seems to me that no matter what, you'd be running in to kids an awful lot.

Every cruise ship visiting Jamaica probably offers an excursion to either one of those two places. I don't know if the other cruise lines offer a combination tour of both places all in the same day like Carnival did, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did. Those are two of the three top tourist destinations in Jamaica... with the third being Dunns River Falls.
For Blue Hole, did you book through Carnival? Seems there are two options to choose from. Both also include tubing and one also has zip lining.
Yes, I booked it through Carnival.
It did not include tubing or zip lining...

I do wish that when someone clicked on the thumbs down, they would be asked to type a brief comment about what they didn't like about the video. That would help me to understand the thumbs down a lot better. But from UA-cam's perspective, they are only looking to calculate a ratio of thumbs ups to thumbs downs... as an easy way for their algorithm to spot "good" videos that it should suggest to others. That's why it's so helpful to me when my viewers click the thumbs up button... it sends a signal to UA-cam that it's a good video that UA-cam should be recommending to other people. If UA-cam doesn't recommend the video to other people, one of my videos would typically only get a few thousand views. If UA-cam decides one of the videos is a "good" video, and starts recommending it to people besides just my subscribers, it can end up getting hundreds of thousands or even millions of views... and that can lead to some nice advertising revenue for me. So, it is definitely appreciated by me when someone takes the effort to click the thumbs-up on one of my videos.
@@JimZim The thumbs down are coming from fellow *Caribbean Islanders* who are fed up with what they see as *Jamaica* over exposure and numerous non beach activities. Every island within the *Caribbean* have some form of disdain for *Jamaica.* .....🤔

We booked that excursion through the cruise line. These are two of Jamaica's biggest tourist attractions, so you'll have no trouble finding a ship-sponsored shore excursion to both places... no matter what cruise line you sail with.

Hi Jim, nice video of you jumping into the blue hole. Did your wife join you or was she still on the cruise ship? Love your videos so please keep on taking them.
She came along, but she has a bad foot... so she stayed back in the parking lot with the tour bus while I had fun at the Blue Hole. The bobsled is very gentle, so she fully participated in that part.

You can leave them in the tour bus. The driver stays back with the bus and protects everyone's stuff.
No height was terrifying, just fun, and nice looking place to go, i would of rather did this over zip lines in the jungle

I used a little braking, since it was my first time and I didn't know what to expect. I wish I could have gone on it a second time... with no use of the brakes!

Highly envious, must be nice to go on Cruses and adventures and live that carefree lifestyle. Wished I could afford to go to Alaska. Hell I'd settle for a round trip And never get off the ship. Never happen on retirement funding !!

Something like 15 minutes or so.

Was the excursion called the Mystic Mountain Bobsled & Blue Hole? it says the activity level is difficult. was it a hard hike? Thanks for your help.
There is some hiking on some trails that are steep for brief periods. Nothing a normal, healthy person could not do. Anyone with mobility issues should not do this excursion.

You can just watch and enjoy the views, if you'd like to.

Hi, thx for great informative video. I have one question since I am considering doing this same excursion with Carnival in April, do they give you any time to have lunch?? Just curious cause from the description seems like we may not have time. Seeing as how the excursion itself takes like 5 1/2 hours before I purchase I want to make sure we will have time to grab a bite to eat. Thanks in advance for any info.
Yes, no problem. There is a restaurant at the top of the mountain and there's lots of time after you take that ski lift up to the top of the mountain.
I never considered the bobsleds as a Shore Excursion. How are they for people with bad knees?
No problem at all on the bobsled itself, but...
There is a LOT of standing around in line prior to actually getting on the bobsled. If you have trouble standing for 15+ minutes, you should skip this excursion.

Yes, the easiest thing to do is to leave your belongings in the tour bus. The driver stays with the tour bus while you are having fun at the blue hole.

It was, although there are other variations of shore excursions that are available where you don't go to both. So, choose the excursion that includes whichever combination of Jamaica attractions you're interested in.
Are there staff there willing to record or do you have to have other people record you?
No, that's up to you and your friends & family.
Book with tag Jamaica company if you stay at a resort, my mom and I had a private driver and instructor for everything who took pictures, videos stopped to show us local spots. Oreal was our drivers name he was amazing I highly recommend using them we’ve been twice and used them both times. We went here February 2020 so we got lucky and were the only 2 people there at the blue hole besides the tour guide and workers at the blue hole, it is beautiful!!
Is there any pool that is not deep? Asking for ppl doesn't know how to swim or kids
There are quite a few little pools along the river. I bet some of them aren't deep.

What was this excursion called? Was it through carnival?
This particular one was called something like Blue Hole & Bobsleds. There are lots of different excursions that go to one or the other, so don't get hung up on the name. Read the description of each of the excursions that are available to you and pick one based on what you want to experience. What I'm trying to say is that there might be four or five different excursions available to you that go to the Blue Hole... plus some other Jamaica attraction. There might also be four or five that go to Mystic Mountain for the bobsleds... plus some other Jamaica attraction. Find the one with the combination of attractions that are most interesting to you.

We were on the Carnival Horizon, which currently visits Ocho Rios every other week. Quite a few other cruise ships also visit Ocho Rios... it's a popular port.
