@The2010Rose1 Wow you are going to have quite a trip. So many wonderful places to visit. I hope you will be spending a few weeks on your trip in November.
I agree, Vang Vieng is a beautiful place. Actually one of my favourite places, so far, in Laos. The river with the mountain backdrop is just so wonderful to look at. I could imagine living there! The cave with the streams of "blood" are caused by the iron oxides dissolved in the water which stains the soft limestone rock as it drips through the rock. Thank you, Nigel
Around 2010, I was shown an unmarked cave by a local. All I remember is that you had to descend to get in and inside it was quite large and extensive (and of course pitch dark). I think it was near where that orange bridge is now, but not 100% sure
Thank you, for share the most beautiful place in Laos is Vang Vieng this my home town but i see one thing that surprise me in the cave flow liquid like blood??
NIgel, we enjoyed your video very much. Before we were in Vang Vieng, my wife and me. And now we see all again. Also to a colleque of me, who will leave the company for an other job, I will recommend this video.
+Gerben G van Dijk Thank you very much Gerben for taking the time to comment on my video. You are most welcome! I am really pleased you enjoyed it, and that it brought back memories of your trip. Nigel
I was a little hesitant when I went to Vang Vieng the first time as I thought it would be totally ruined & full of tourists. It is possible, however, to stay away from the "backpacker ghetto" and see the real town and scenery. Such a beautiful place, you will enjoy very much, especially if you go the other side of the river and follow the road into the mountains. Nigel
Thank you very much for the advice, Nigel! :-) I will travel with my photo and video camera to enjoy the temples, sunrise, sunset, river, waterfalls, mountain view and other scenic views. So I prefer to stay away from that "backpacker ghetto".
it's fine if it becomes even more of a busy tourist attraction becus it'll create jobs and bring money for the laos people. But the authorities just needs to take action in monitoring and maintaining the place for the well being of everyone. However, they should limit infrastructure being built there and maintain it's natural enviroment, that's what makes the place beautiful.

I think so too - the best thing is despite being such a "touristy" place, it still retains a gentle charm. Thanks, Nigel

Very nice video with an awesome view to the mountains! I'm going to Vang Vieng later this year if it's not destroyed by too many drunk backpackers.
Wow! Beautiful video Nigel! I'm going to check out your others. :)
