Thermopolis was named for exactly the reason you’d suspect. Thermal features + city (in Greek) = Thermopolis. But there’s more to the town’s history than that!
I know I've watched this before. My great grandmother's older brother lived in Thermopolis, I believe with his granddaughter and her family. He died in 1920, his wife, a son and 2 daughters having preceded him. He was a captain during the Civil War and I remember much loved by my grandma.
Yessir I moved here in 1963 my Dad ran the transmitter for the TV Station. That no longer exist. Mildred Ernst own the station. The transmitter was or is still up on Boisen peak. I moved back in 06. Great town for Retirement. Or retirees like me. With 20 years in the Army and 10 years driving Simis for Marten transportation over the road 48:0f the lower states and Canada. A million miles.
I really enjoyed this video. I visited Thermopolis yesterday and enjoyed the terraces at the hot springs and the swinging bride. What a nice town.
Did you mean swinging bridge? If so, that's not what you wrote.
I remember the Huge hamburgers our family used to get on the way to Thermopolis. I want to go home to Casper. Thanks for the memories.

I wonder how many people remember the old A&W drive-in's. A lifetime ago . .
I lived there as a kid but didn't know that history stuff, just knew it was fun place to be a kid, thanks for the lesson.
