Ever since I was tiny and walking, my dad has taken me here from MI. This is my wonderland.🤍 I can never spend enough time here. I'm currently sitting here watching this, taking the 2020 Quarantine Tour 😂🤍 THANK YOU FOR FILMING AND POSTING!!
Absolutely! I am glad you can find joy in this video, and soon we will be able to travel again, so you can come back to WI and experience one of the most unique places in the world.
My dad took me here when i was 7, he always prided homself on family tradition as his late father had taken him and his brother when they were young boys and claims it to be his favorite place in the world, although i was too young to truly appreciate it, it was always in the back of my mind like a distant memory or dream i had that would have been confused with reality. I am now 20 years of age and I am lucky enough with the fortune of being about to take my dad for his birthday, still is as magical as i remeber all those years ago, thanks for posting this video to reanimate my memories!
I can imagine, especially as a child. Dang. I wonder what it would be like to play 'hide-and-seek'. It would have to be a massive group and set in teams. How much fun that would be!
I was there as an infant. We just went back 30 some odd years later. All I can say is WOW! We talked about what it would be like staying the night there. No thank you. Those creepy dolls probably come to life at night. LOL.
@@legaciesshelties For sure. So creepy. My daughter hates dolls. So naturally I had to mess with her a bit. She is 21 now, so she can handle it (I think). :)
My husband and I had never heard of The House On the Rock but was told to be sure to visit. We did and were overwhelmed by all the displays, etc. Recommended it to a co-worker and went with his wife. They were so thankful that we had told them to visit it.
Thank you so much Major Air for sharing this and allowing me to share, once again, one of the small parts of memories of my young life that helped to let me know that all dreamers, the likes of Alex Jordan, can create something so beautiful, wonderful, and everlasting. One man, thought to be a fool, made something so special from the dreams he had and constructed, is still as mesmerizing today as when it was when he first brought it into being. A very heartfelt "Thank you" for letting me know that his dream continues.
I haven’t been here in several years, but this is one of those places that really sticks with you forever afterwards. It’s like a theme park based on a dream journal and a trip to an antique store.
Alex Jordan used to wear paint splattered coveralls and would perform a lot of the maintenance tasks around The House. No one knew who he was and the employees who did know never let on. He loved just hearing the visitors comments about his creation.
For the life of me I could not remember where I got these random memories from that I wasn't sure were dreams or not...until I found this video. I went here when I was about 6
"Random" just about sums up this place. I have now been here 3 times in my life, and each time I feel like I need more time to get through it. And, it's not because I am older, thus slower. ;)
I discovered your UA-cam channel today 🙌, and love the sweet adoration, and easy-going relationship you have with your sister. Your ❤ shines bright in this video❣
For anyone who has not been to House on the Rock, it is well worth the visit. I went several times, when I lived in Madison. Keep one thing in mind though. Many of the rooms are rather dark and have a claustrophobic feel. If you have serious issues with claustrophobia, you might want to think carefully if this is a good place for you to visit. Also, there are a lot of stairs. If you take small children, watch them carefully.
Good call. Small children that can "run" fast could be challenging. I know what you mean about the small rooms. Luckily there are enough big rooms and open spaces that those with claustrophobia could still enjoy the majority of the experience.
ahh that out of tune banjo near the 25 minute mark was one of my favorite things about this place! watching this video brings back many good memories, thank you so much for posting it!
Absolutely! There were a couple of places/rooms that the sound was off, and I mean way off key. It was like my ears began to bleed. But as you said, that is part of the fun and enjoyment walking through this place. 🎵🎼🔊🎻
HOTR is one of my favorite places in the whole world. My wife and I make a trip there every October, enjoy the tour, see the fall colors, have dinner in Spring Green and then see the Dark Side tour and stay at the Resort for the night. A wonderful anniversary trip.
That is very cool sounding. My wife does not care for this place, which is a shame. So I go when I have relatives come to town. I am going to try to do an even better tour next time I go, which may be this coming summer. We will see.
My dad bill black actually did some work here and new the guy who built everything here and Actually helped build stuff. Very close with the wife. This place is awesome my dad has been here so many times and I still have to go yet!
Interesting fact about the carousel at The House on the Rock is that even though it is filled with all sorts of animals there is not one single horse on it. The closest it comes to having a horse on it is a unicorn. Alex Jordan was severely injured in his earlier years in which he had a car accident (he in the car) colliding with a horse-drawn wagon after dark. He had a rather lengthy hospital stay to recover.
