The Middletown Reservoir Trails are great for hiking! However, the stumps of those small tree saplings can cause a nasty spill. Please either cut them down to the ground or spray paint them the color of the designated trail so no one gets hurt.
I found someone's silver ring on the Middletown Reservoir Trail - on the Black trail. I found it on sat 9/4/21. I didn't have any way to pin it to the info and trail board at the time but I am going back on wed 9/8/21 to tape it to the board which is at the main parking lot off of Van Duzer Rd. The one with the picnic tables and bathrooms. I hope who ever lost their ring will see this post and come back to collect it. It looks like a small figure 8 symbol.
Every time I hike where there is water and fishing is allowed, (Waywayanda State Park, and Winding Hills Park in Montgomery as two examples) I end up picking up wads of fishing line left behind along with hooks, plastic, earthworm containers. Fishing line left on or in the water ends up tangled around birds and other wildlife. Its not worth loosing the character of a wild place just to be able to fish. I hope its never allowed.
It’s sad that people can’t be responsible. When I go fishing I even pick up other people’s line if I see it laying around. I love animals, it kills me that people are that careless.. I can only hope DEC can find some of these idiots. I understand your feeling on the situation, I just wish people would clean up after themselves so everyone can enjoy what Mother Nature has to offer.. I also recommend if anyone ever sees fishing line on the ground please pick it up and throw it out..
Looks amazing, would love to be able to fish there. Would be willing to pay for fishing access. I have a permit for NYC water supplies. There is not much fishing in Middletown.. Please tell me I can fish here!! Thanks and great job with this new amazing place
Yea I noticed when I read the 20 page Feasibility report on the park. It did say they were hoping to expand it for fishing. There is not really a good reason why it’s not allowed. The report actually states that many jurisdictions find that managed recreational uses can both displace unmanaged uses and trespassing and enhance security. I do appreciate the reply but hope to someday still fish that amazing body of water, so close to home...

Would advise you to call City Hall at 346-4100 or the Parks and Rec office at 346-4180 and let them know. Someone may have called in.
