Sona: outstanding job. Way to step up during such an overwhelming time with the perfect balance of humor and respect. We love all of our Chill Chums (that means you too, Gourls)
I live in Boston and I heard people talking about Dr. and Mrs. O'Brians' passings completely unrelated to Conan, it was a little surreal. Condolences to the whole family.
This was a joy to watch/listen to. My condolences goes out to Conan and the whole O'Brien clan. I must say though, literally my first thought when I heard about his parents passing was how incredibly beautiful it was that they were not parted for long, so I'm happy that sentiment was echoed by Sona and Matt!
oh man Sona you CRUSHED it. Having to take control while people deal with heavy stuff is so not easy, but you guys were both respectful and good natured about the whole thing.
This makes me realize what superstars everyone on Conan’s team are. I think it’s because they’re all decent people and somehow it’s comforting to watch them as they cover for their boss who they love during his time of grief. What a sad but heartwarming Christmas it’s turning out to be. (Conan O’Brien is Surrounded by Friends just doesn’t have the same ring to it though.)
No other celebrity on the planet would invoke such strong emotions of sympathy and loss during this sad time for the O'Brien family. You really have touched all of our hearts with your authenticity and humour. Love from Canada.
We love you, Conan. And great job to Sona and Gourles for handling this with the same signature humor/banter as the normal podcast. It must've been tough to talk about, especially for Sona.
@@ProHobbyjogger I suspect the family may be thinking along those lines....when I read the obits I was amazed at what both of them accomplished in their lives, beyond raising a family. Like, way to live a life and run through the tape! I hope Conan can share some of it when he gets back.
CONAF has definitely been one of the best parts of 2024 for me. The hilarity, silliness, uncomfortable truths, and team dynamics have been a joy to behold. Condolences to Conan; it is cool though that his parents were married for 66 years. That’s goals.
@@ctrainbeatsI think we’re in the same age range; I’m 42 now. I remember being 15 in high school and being shocked when I’d make new friends with people whose parents were still married. Mine divorced 31 years ago; still great friends to this day
So sorry to hear about Conan's parents passing. My folks passed away 2 weeks apart and as devastating as it is I like tho think they would have wanted that way.
I know Sona was probably pretty anxious about having to do that intro, but she did an absolutely brilliant job. It's clear that she's also affected by the O'Brien's passing, but she balanced that perfectly with just the right amount of humor to ease the tension.
I lost my mother to cancer last year and one of the things that helped bring some sort of joy to my life was watching you guys be silly, obtuse and downright insane. Even though his parents lived a very full and long life, the cavity a parent leaves behind never seems to get filled. Please give him the warmest and biggest hug from me, as you guys through your comedy helped to save me from my darkest pit
You guys did such a good job for this serious one. The love, genuineness, and humor found in these moments was something I was convinced was an uncommon trait of Conan’s, but it shines through from each of you as well.
I’m about Conan’s age. Maybe a couple of years older. Over the last thirty years, probably watched every episode of every show and avatar he inhabited. Even though access to it all wasn’t the easiest here in India. After all these years I feel like I knew his parents! Condolences Conan.
My deepest condolences to Conan and his family. I have heard about his parents for all these years to the point that I think I know them (at least through Conan's eyes and comedy). Honestly, it's a blessing that they had such full lives. And in Chinese culture (and I'm sure many others), passing above a certain "ripe old" age like 80 or 90, the passing becomes a celebration of their life and less of a mourning.
My heart sincerely goes out to Conan O’ Brien, and his family. I hope he doesn’t rush or worry to about when to come back. Conan has been bringing us happiness & laughs for over 30 years. He deserves all the time he needs, and a little extra.
More of this please!!! Just hearing Sona and Matt (and of course Conan), talking and jokes with each other telling what happened behind the scene is what I really love about this podcast. I watch the intro of the podcast repeatedly almost every single one of them. I would 100% rather hearing them just talking to each other than having my favorite celebrity interview.
Much love to Conan and family. Conan has brought so much joy and laughter to me over so many years it's tough to think of him feeling loss and sadness, but I have no doubt that in his uniquely Irish Catholic way he will push that sadness down and find a way to turn it into laughter. Profound condolences.
They gave us Conan and his five siblings, they did incredible work, they lived to their mid nineties and passed within days of one another. Beautiful lives, rest in peace.
I bet Sona just knew those details about his family, that’s very sweet. Hoping Coco gets to have a very merry Christmas despite the losses. Praying for that, peace for your grieving family and sending all the cheer. 🧡🧡
I’ve been thinking of Conan so much since I heard about his parents - but just wanna say that it feels appropriate that a legend has two legends for parents
Today is my birthday too, and I lost both parents before I was 18… I’ve been watching his channel and these videos to cheer me up since this is a hard time of year. I find his parents passing so close to each other pretty beautiful, especially when you think of the alternative. “Life is a tragedy in close up, and a comedy in the long shot” . We love you Conan, Godspeed 🤍
I was wondering how they were going to acknowledge this, but they hit just the right notes. Great job Sona and Matt, and my condolences to Conan and his entire family.
My deepest condolences to Conan and his family during this tough time. He has brought me immeasurable joy during some of the toughest times in my life. I do hope he is able to see the comments from everyone here in the future to see just how many people are supporting him right now. And kudos to the rest of Team Coco for handling the situation so well. You are all awesome ❤
My heart goes out to him and his siblings. I believe the depth of your grief relates to the depth of the love you have experienced. While it must be a difficult time, I hope he can find the beauty of the pain this grief will cause. The love his parents had for each other and they both had for their kids hopefully will be the saving grace they can lean on through these times.
Conan has done so much for us. Anyone know if there's anything happening online with his fans to put together a condolences card or something like that?
My heartfelt condolences to the entire O’Brien family. This trio has been a source of immense joy in my life, especially during the challenging times of the pandemic when I needed it most.
sona always says she's "not good" as a podcaster, but damn she's FABULOUS. she's even better than I could have thought! like, give her her own podcast!! she's so conversational and witty, and naturally has a perfect balance of serious and comedic moments.

We all love Conan, he is the best late night host around. Very sorry for his loss, and thanks for hanging in there Sonja and Matt, the extended family steps up.
Condolences to Conan. I hope you can find peace and understanding with all of this. His parents raised a really spectacular, hard working, and hilarious kid…whether it was intentional or not.
This is funny, sad and heartwarming all at the same time. Sona saying Conan was poking fun at her gave me a feeling that he's going to be alright... and kudos to Dr. Thomas and Mrs. Ruth. They clearly did an amazing job raising a man who, along with all his qualities, makes sure to be surrounded by great people 🧡
What absolutely heartbreaking news to wake up to the other day, my deepest condolences to Conan and his family. Good job, both of you. This compilation and your commentary really warmed my heart.
When the alpha is not there but you still enjoy watching it tells you perfectly that these three are just gold trio. All their personality and humor are so balanced.
Sending love and prayers to Conan and his family. His parents were such a big part of his career and I feel like we knew them just a bit. As sad as it is, especially around the holidays, it is lovely that they are together forever in eternity and didn’t have to live without one another. ❤❤
The one moment from this year that sticks in my head the moment is the "country club" bit where Conan throws his family under the buss. Shitzy! and Hoofa!
