Hello Elliot, thanks for checking out our channel. I do have tools that I save just for stone. Pipestone is quite soft but still dulls my tools, l just sharpen more frequently but I can’t bring myself to use my finer tools on it. My stone tools have a more obtuse angle than even my ivory tools let alone my wood carving tools.

Hello Christopher, thank you for checking out our channel, we appreciate your support. The tools l used for detailing the pipe are scrapers and gravers that l made from old files. They are very similar to what I use for ivory and antlers. We have a video on tools and techniques for scrimshaw that show them in greater detail, you might want to check that out. Also there’s a video on carving a little gnome out of antler that will help explain the process better for you. Thanks again, be well.

@@StockmanOriginal Thanks, I'm from Central Europe, what do you think they call this type of rock in international or Latin language? As far as I know, there are few stones that can only be found in one part of the world. I was looking for meerschaum stone anno, but I only found it on the Asia Minor peninsula, in Turkey, it is not possible to get it from there, at least so far I have not found a way or an opportunity. I hope there is no law against it, because then I will be trying unnecessarily. For now, I make pipe heads from clay and hardwood, but stone is easier to carve, I prefer it. Let's say it has so many disadvantages that it overheats very quickly, but let's say it's fine in winter at minus degrees.
@endlosz Hello, the stone l used for that pipe is literally called pipestone and comes from Pipestone Minnesota. It’s what the native folk here have used for thousands of years.

I love the look of this pipe great work, im just looking to make my 1st pipe and have been searching online for inspiration but i'd like to find something that is from here . there is a stone quarry just outside town hoping the laids there can point me in the right direction.
G-day to you sir!! So glad you enjoyed our video. I’m not sure what you guys might have to work with but slate works well. Love to see what you come up with, good luck and thank you for checking us out!

You do amazing work
Thank you very much, l appreciate that very much.
what a great how too..
after i had my hard attack which i quit smoking that night in 2015.. i was looking for another hobby.
i took up painting on saw blades. then got board so i found some algirian brier wood. it was beautyful
my wife ordered it for me. and when it came in it was even more than expected. $25.00 bucks it scared the hell out of me. i did not want to ruin such a nice brier.. i went and joined a pipe making area on u
tube and studied what everyone else was doing..and drew out several pics on paper. thay were like everyone else's...not for me. i wanted the wood to talk and show me what was needed..a month later i started cutting the wood.and it did do what i wanted weard shape pipes 3 to be exact.. they came out great and still have them. i wish i had away to take pic's.i would post them... sometimes it pay's to sit and stair at a project no matter how long it takes it will tell you what it needs...to be happy...later lee
Hello Lee, so happy you are enjoying our videos! You are right about waiting till the material speaks up. You will always get the best results that way. Would love to see what you did. Thank you for being a part of our tribe, Brian.

Joshua, thank you so much! We joke about being the best kept secret on UA-cam.🥴😁
Beautiful work what a craftsman. I have just begun my pipe journey and love seeing artisan work from a true professional. Would love to own a devil anse pipe that you have created
Thank you so much for your kind comments. Welcome to the tribe. You can reach me on messenger.
@@StockmanOriginal Would you ever possibly have the time or the desire to make a devil anse type pipe I would want nothing to do with the input of your creation I would love to have one on your own take on it. Just really would love to have a nice nose warmer from your creative mind
I apologize I do not have Facebook and I just figured out what messenger meant
Amazing! This must cost thousands 😂
Thank you Ren, that was a fun project and I have since gotten a nice supply of pipestone to work with.😃
@@StockmanOriginal Simply amazing watching you create. From picking the wood to making the box, just awesome! Glad I watched @Hobbiton Piper video which led to your page. Two new subscriptions for Christmas 😂
wonderful work WOWWWW
Thank you so much Richard!
Love your work that I've seen so far. Do you ever make and sell native American "peace pipes"
Hello Bear- Wolf and Ms Cathy, thanks for checking us out. I just picked up a bunch of pipestone and yeah, l make good pipes.
@@StockmanOriginal will have to check on getting one depending on what you charge. Would love to have an eagle head
i dont suppose there is a place to purchase a tamper like the one you made in this video. i love it.
Hey Tanner M, yes I’m going to be making some of those soon. I’ll see if Max can get you the details. Thanks for checking in on us!
Do you have a different set of chisels/knives/bits/tools/whatever for working on that pipe-stone, or does it not hurt the tool's you'd use for wood much?
Hello Elliot, thanks for checking out our channel. I do have tools that I save just for stone. Pipestone is quite soft but still dulls my tools, l just sharpen more frequently but I can’t bring myself to use my finer tools on it. My stone tools have a more obtuse angle than even my ivory tools let alone my wood carving tools.
very cool, love your videos....I carved some MiqMaq short pipes, lots of fun. Toughest part is drilling the hole -- never know if it cracks
Sheepdog9 hey, you’re in N.H.right? We should get together sometime.
Nice pipe. Just subbed you.
Basspiper, thanks and welcome aboard 👍🏼
Great work! New subscriber here! I'd love to buy a pipe stone pipe/tamper like that from you... Do you sell them? Thank you.
Hello PVQUICKSHOT, and welcome to the tribe! Yes , l would love to make a pipe and tamper for you. You can message me directly on messenger. Happy new year!
WHAT ARE THE TOOLS CALLED YOU USED TO CARVE THE FINE DEATAILS IN THE BOWL AND THE ANTLER STAMPER?
Hello Christopher, thank you for checking out our channel, we appreciate your support. The tools l used for detailing the pipe are scrapers and gravers that l made from old files. They are very similar to what I use for ivory and antlers. We have a video on tools and techniques for scrimshaw that show them in greater detail, you might want to check that out. Also there’s a video on carving a little gnome out of antler that will help explain the process better for you. Thanks again, be well.
Conheci a pouco tempo o canal , nossa nao tinha visto ainda um cachimbo de pedra... Que excelente trabalho manual ... Queria metade desse talento 😅, parabens .
Thank you so much Raul , l appreciate your kind words and welcome you to our little tribe. We hope you enjoy many more of our videos.
Obrigado! Eu realmente gostei disso. Estamos felizes que você encontrou nosso canal.
What kinda of carving machine is that?. I could use a heavier machine. It looks pretty strong...
Hello Kareem, and welcome to the tribe. I would recommend a fordom flex shaft, they are professional grade tools.
May ask where u got that skull in the background
Hello Noah, thanks for checking us out! I traded that out of a fellow a long time ago.
Awesome craftsmanship! Where can I place my order?
Hey Gilbert, thanks for watching! I do have a supply of pipestone coming so please keep in touch. Once I have the stone I’ll be taking orders.
@@StockmanOriginal I appreciate the quick response. Keep me posted.
Thank you,
Gilbert G.
Keep an eye on the channel. We'll put out a video when the pipe stone comes in. If you want, you can also send an email to stockmanoriginal@protonmail.com with your contact info.
How do I buy one I have 1 how do you order 1
You look like female gade school teacher. But you are a master at your craft
Thanks fluffy nuggets, good to have you with us! You know the old saying- can’t judge a book by it’s cover.
Can you describe to me the names of these stones?
Hello and welcome aboard, the stone is called pipestone and it comes from Minnesota USA

@@StockmanOriginal Do you know the history of pipe smoking? Where was it first in the Asia Minor peninsula or with the Indians? When did you start smoking tobacco leaves? What did they smoke before? Are there any credible scientific sources on this that are based on findings and not assumptions?
How can I have one of this 😢😢😢😢
I can make one for you if you want. I’ll see if Max can find your contact info.
I would like to buy a pipe from you
Hello Melvin, thank you so much for watching our channel and your interest in a pipe. I’ll be making some soon and will be in touch with you.
How can I I've been smoking for forty three years I have all Kinds of pipes

its called a churchwarden pipe
@@merrymaker1031 it’s similar but different. There’s many long stemmed pipes but not all are churchwardens. Though this would work for sneaking a puff out a door 😉😁
@@StockmanOriginal It depends on which country you are in. In the uk they are churchwardens
