    I noticed most of your last 12 videos or so . Were basicly a review of a free tool you received ,and your videos are few and far between at that. When are you going to again put up a weekly video of a new project ? I used to love when I seen you had put up a new video, but like I said. Now it just seems that you are doing a review of a free tool once or twice a month. Good for you that you are getting all these free new tools. But I miss your old videos when you were doing alot of projects with very little .

    Its true the higher end is easier to hit but if your just starting out they work. I used and still use my cheap ones with my hydraulic press. Thats a lot smoother regardless of which disc cutter you have but certainly for the cheap ones

    Good to see you're doing videos again.... I bought some of the silver sheets, and 16guage wire, and soldering materials you recommended and they're AWESOME! Not sure if you recommended the "Ice Resin opals" but it's nothing but blue glitter, lol. Just wanted to say thanks for the recommendations tho.

    Thanks! This was very informative. 👍
    Can you buy Pepe Tools replacement punches to use in a non-Pepe Tools disc cutter?❓ I just purchased a disc cutter from PMC but haven't taken it out of the box yet because I need a brass hammer so I don't know if the punches are slanted at a 7° angle. I originally purchased one from Harbor Freight because of the price and because I liked the see-through top but I had to take it back because it was HORRIBLE! I got it stuck and almost couldn't get the punch out trying to cut 26 ga copper. It was pathetic!
    Btw, I checked out the links and the Pepe Tools website has better prices as opposed to their Amazon shop.

    • @GomeowCreations

      I honestly dont know if you can or not but you can contact Pepetools and ask. Also the harbor Freight one is trash for sure.

    So I have the same type of disc cutter as your Pepe but the one from Rio. As a teacher, I have one concern with your demo here and it’s how you are holding the hammer. When you use your Pepe, you are holding the hammer properly, clear to the end of the hammer handle. When you are demonstrating the cheap Harbor Freight one, you are choking up in the handle and having to use your brute force to try to force the punch through. You hold the hammer the same way when punch the ovals. How you hold the hammer makes a huge difference. Holding it properly, most especially with heavy weight hammers like a brass mallet, you are working much harder than you need or should. You are using brute force from your grip all the way to your shoulder. How we hold our tools has a big impact on our repetitive movements and risk of injuries. It also impacts how long we can work without tiring. Doing a video on good studio ergonomics would be a very good one to do. Tutorials are basically teaching videos and you want to teach students good habits from the beginning. It can make all the difference in how much enjoyment they get from their exploration of metal as, what I think, the best art medium! 😄 Keep up the good work.

    Loved your comparison of the harbor freight V.S. Pepe disc cutters; You " Hit " It Out Of The Park!! I felt like you were describing Every issue I experienced with that inferior tool.. especially the dies getting stuck so bad, my husband had to put it in a vise & use another punch to hammer it thru. Now for the good news... I just got the Pepe one last week for my Birthday! Describing the reason for the angle, was very valuable for understanding the most important difference to a good punch. Also, thank you for explaining the reason only 13 centering dies; I had posted the question of why not the 1/8th.... makes total sense.

    I love my Pepe disc cutter. It saves so much time. One tip I have for cutting symmetrical moon shapes is to use a small cutter inside of the concave to line up to the edge of the metal. Your not using the smaller cutter for cutting, just alignment. Once aligned, tighten the spring clamp, and remove the small cutter and come back and cut the moon shape with the proper cutter designated for the hole size. If you’re doing several of the same size it helps with consistency.

    Hi dude! So nice to see you posting again! My question is how thick of metal could you use in these cutters? would any size that fits between the plates work or is there a limit to the thickness before the cutters stop working?

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  4 роки тому +4

      It kind depends on that metal you are working with but in this video I was using 0.8mm brass and it was a little hard the hammer so I think you can maybe go up to 1mm brass and be ok. silver might be something like 1.5mm but I haven't tested this. Also you can use a press on this and likely do over 2mm+ 😁👍

I have bought just about everything you have shown and am just waiting for the jewelers desk to arrive so I can get my room set up and get started. Was that a custom made tool or something you can purchase.

    to center the workpiece in that 3mm hole where the center tool is missing.
