I liked the Mingo tape from college. He was on my radar as a possible draft pick for the Cowboys. The main thing I was disappointed about is that we weren't sellers. I am also disappointed that Dak Prescott's no trade clause still exists. I am even more disappointed that Jerry Jones is still running this team!
Who the hell negotiates for the Cowboys? How could they not get ANYTHING in return? Where is the give & take of negotiations? Ok Dak, you want a fully guaranteed contract then the average salary is coming down. Ok Dak, you want the highest salary in the NFL then the guarantees are coming down. But nooooo, he couldn't even negotiate the no-trade clause out? That seems simple to do....ok Dak you want a DeShaun Watson deal then you gotta get rid of the no-trade.
@jimmygreer2140 Here is what they needed to do. Trade Cede Lamm, Micah Parsons, Jake Ferguson and other young assets who are about to get paid big money, for draft picks. Get out from Dak's no trade clause and trade him when his stock goes up in the next couple of years. And the main one is that Jerry has health issues and sadly passes away.
If they gave Carolina a 7th it would've been no big deal. Everyone would've said meh at least they didn't give up anything. The second straight year of dumping a 4th round pick foe a team that says they build through the draft is just plain stupid, poor business!
He's young enough and has the physical tools so if you look at it as a 2nd round grade dropping to us in the 4th due to questions on his hands, then a 4th round isn't bad. Not what I would've done, I want the draft to be best on board and leaning towards linemen linemen linemen.
When was the last time the Cowboys made a trade or free agency move that was a “win”. To be clear, it’s a win when it measurably improves the team and you didn’t overpay in terms of contract or trade value. Spoiler: It’s been a while.
I wouldn't go that far. Bringing in Bill Parcels was logical. Will McClay has been logical. The root problem is the culture Jerry Jones has created on this team. There is no pressure on players for excellence, except for their next contract. Jerry is willing to pay players if they sell jerseys. Dak is a very popular play, so to Jerry, he is worth a max deal. He is a good quarterback, but not elite! His best divisional round game was in 2016. Ever since then, he hasn't had a good divisional round game. I would even credit Zeke and the o-line more for 2016 than Dak! The last 3 years, I would credit the defense more than Dak for their 12-5 seasons, as well as 2018, when the defense carried them into the playoffs. Dak gets good numbers against bad team, and in garbage time against good teams. He isn't that good at game winning drives. He isn't worth but maybe half of what he is making now!
@@faceious2006 "I hate Dak, and let me repeat the same exhausted and untrue talking points people have been saying for the last 9 years." You: Bro! So thoughtful!
@@bdgrey His comment was infinitely better than the ridiculous and childish excuses you and people like yourself have made for Dak. And you can post all of your meaningless stats that you want. The only stat that matters is 2-5. The worst playoff record by any QB in NFL history to start 5 playoff games. And yes, he gets 100% credit for wins and loses especially in playoffs. This is not hate. It’s called realism. You have this positive emotional view towards Dak and that clouds your judgement towards his ability to win big games. No one cares about your feeling.
@ It is hate. Football isn’t tennis. Football isn’t MMA. Wins and losses are a team stat. That is a low depth of thought argument that removes any responsibility from anyone else on the team.
It's as if you people find it difficult to understand the difference between a player who is on a rookie deal with upside - Particularly when the team had the player rated a second round pick just a year ago VS an established player with money attached to his name. That teams don't want to absorb and pay.
I don’t mind when we trade our high round bust for someone else’s high round bust. It’s never actually worked out for us, but it can’t fail. Trading pick for them hasn’t worked out for Dallas either, but it does cost draft capital.
Howie Roseman traded a 3rd for a former 1st who has done nothing with better qb play and everyone worshipped the ground he walks on. What has Dotson done this year? 77 yards. Jerry Jones traded a 4th for a former 2nd and everyone laughs at him. The mainstream media is really playing some of yall lol
I was never in high on the Dotson trade but that’s a completely different scenario. Identitying and addressing a need in preseason at 0-0 is different than trading at the deadline at 3-5.
@jayhartRIC Semantics man one guy got called dumb one got called smart and did the same thing. A former 2 for a 4th. A former 1 for a third also have 3 7th rounders. They got a 5th back and we got a 7th back. Its just hypocrisy. People would rather hate Jerry than actually use their brains.
Listen to Mingo speak when interviewed. Dude isn’t going to work to perfect routes or understand the offense. He will be out of the league soon. Mentally he will not be able.

Jerry needs to learn he can push his chair back then walk away at times too

What was the "logic" behind the trade? Since when is logic a consideration in Dallas?

Mingo looks like a TE honestly, could he be turned into one possibly?

Gilly and Cooks. But beyond that, yes.
You sadly assume logic is involved. No logic in over thirty years and counting.

Lance for a 4th; Mingo for a 4th... what's with the Cowboy's and how much they seem to hate 4th round picks???
What if the new coach doesn’t want him?
This garbage trade is a distraction. It also fits the job Jerry the gm Jones has been doing over 30 years.

Should be easy to learn the playbook. Only have 5 plays!

Barnwell tends to use a ton of words to say absolutely nothing. Regardless if he is speaking or writing.
Mazi is still learning. Mazi is not the idiot of Mingo.
A 4th round pick for a guy who has 12 receptions this year ......terrible
Because you like most fan boys simply look at production from a stat perspective and not a player talent evaluation perspective
So what your saying is, we’re COOKED.
Jerry Jones belongs in the looney bin
An F
Why would we trade for a old one year rental
2nd year player 2 years left
Were a joke of a franchise
Future all pro
Honestly it’s not like they’ve been drafting that well lately over the past few years anyway so to me I feel like this was a decent move.
Better qbs In Dallas
