Thanks Dave! Your videos have been an immense help. I've just finished building what I call my "Ugly Project Rig" (because it is built mostly from scrap I accumulated when I was working) and I am about to start wiring up the control box. So perfect timing. This biggest issue I've had though is not being able to find a wiring diagram that shows all three motors. Cheers! (And I totally understand about not being able to see the small stuff. I'll be 69 years old in March.)
Fantastic! And thank you for the super thanks! It will go to good use for the next rig I build up for you guys.. I just got this one up and running in the video and it's so much fun! It would be pretty cool if you win.. But if you dont, just email me and I can send over the full 3 motor wiring diagram. max.motion.simulator@gmail.com All the best! Dave
DMAX CONTROLLER. Phenomenal Video. Thank you. There’s lots of Great Information and Details in this Video that will Help us Fill in the Blanks of things that I and I’m sure others Have Wondered About and needed more Explaining so that we can achieve and Complete our 2 or 3 dof build. Thank You Super Dave D Max
DMAX CONTROLLER Thank you so much for this video, Dave! This video fixed so many problems that I was having with SMC3 Utils and now it's all working like it should! You posted this video two days ago, but it never showed up in my notifications even though I'm subscribed and have notifications turned on 🤔
I'm too late to enter dmax controller, just found your videos last night and have watched every one of them so far. Absolutely amazing work, and inspiring. I definitely want to build one. That rig looks absolutely awesome by the way, I love the way it came out. Looks extremely professional You're an excellent teacher. Thanks for these videos, need more DIY stuff like this on the Internet
D Max Dave - AKA the DON of fun stuff. Great video man. Great to see you back in the saddle. The rig is looking great. Nice and compact. Keep em coming Dave.
Hey @Doctoradhad1 - Thanks for taking a look. Just going over the basics in my own way you know.. Yeah it's nice to have some time to actually get this project up and running! There will be more posts! Hhaha Dave
Those couplers are great! I used thermal shrinking sheath to link the potentiometers to my motors. It's cheap and works fine too! but you can't remove it without shattering it if you wan't to change something... Nice One DMax :) Glad if you are finally overcoming your vision problem! cheers
D Max Controller - First time commenter. Been watching your videos getting my tools and parts together to start my first sim rig build. Thanks for all the helpful videos. I think it really helps to grow the community.
Good stuff here. Thank you for all the work you do on you channel and glad your back in the driver's seat again. Your videos got me motivated to build my own rig.
Thanks for the comment. Yep.. it's good to be back and BTW.. the motion in this rig is pretty awesome.. I drove for 5 hrs after the video and it just got better and better.. Very happy! Dave
Thank you Dave. You have given me a ton of insight for my own 3 DOF with the 3rd being heave instead of yaw like yours. I was wondering the whole time about the algorithms I would have to write but it looks like sim tools does that for me. This should be a fun project for a few weekends using T slot and whatever motors I can find.
Thanks for the comment! Yes Simtools pretty much takes care of the game to rig telemetry to make it immersive. SMC3 setup is the first step so I wanted to show you all what to do to actually get your rig running games.. It is a great project. But try not to scrimp too much on the motors as they are very important.. Thanks for watching! Dave
Thanks for another detailed video. Learned a lot watching your build series. I am close to getting my rig to testing, only first nonsmoke moves with smc are done, nearly finished welding the rig, nice to see how to setup simtools next.
Thanks for watching.. I know it was a long video with a lot of content but when your building one of these, it's nice to have someone show you the steps. Thanks again! and more to come! Dave
Awesome content, I love this kinda DIY stuff and also love racing like my 2 brothers! DMAX CONTROLLER is awesome! I know about using arduino and sensors/servos, so Im gonna try to make a racing set up with my brother Al Chandeck here at home! I am a mechanical engineer from Villanova University, PA but I currently live in Panama, Panama. Keep up the good content Dave!
Very cool.. It just takes a little time to make the frame and all that.. but It works awesome in my opinion. Actually after the video, I drove that rig for 5 hrs straight, raced it twice and cant wait to get back into it this weekend.. I'll draw a winner from the list of names on the next video so Good Luck my friend! Dave
Dmax controller, hope im not too late to the party :) Great job. I have collected most of my parts and have been following your videos. I am planning to start my build soon.
Thanks for the comment and watching the video.. Yeah it takes a little while to get everything together but well worth it once you 'step on the gas' the first time and get that immersion! Dave
I just finished my motion simulator after 9 months of work. If it wasn't for your detailled videos, I would not have been able to make it. Will email you a video. Many many thanks!
DMAX CONTROLLER long time awaiting a video you legend. how are you finding the motors at the front. I prefer mine at the front it feels more real especially with breaking.
Hi Dave, I've been following your tutorial and has had some success using smaller motors. But of course the motors would work nicely without load, but when I sit on the rig then I see it's not enough to carry my weight. So I decided to get some 24V NMRV worm gears to give the rig more output power. I powered it with a single 24V/40A PSU and again it works without load and when I sit on the rig it still works but it just stops working after a few seconds. I'd replug the USB cable and it would work again. Sometimes the SMC3 util would crash. I thought it could be caused by the IBT2 overheating so I added more heatsink and ventilation but it still persists. I'm also checking the temp and it doesn't even feel hot anymore. I tried soldering everything on board instead of using connectors as you recommended in one of your earlier videos but the problem still persists. I'm running out tests and tweaks to do. I hope you can help me out. I see you're using 12V, could it be that the IBT2 do not handle 24V very well?
ok.. so thanks for the questions.. i have used 24v motors in the past with good results.. I would try getting a genuine ardunio r-3.. i have heard that sometimes the 'clones' have issues.. I've not encountered any with my clones yet but it's possible. the smc3 is talking directly to the arduino so that seems like the simplest option to eliminate. it's probably not the ibt. what if you ran your power supply just to one motor? maybe it's shutting off for some reason.? try those two ideas and let me know dave
i have a link to xsimulator page in the description for the wiring.. but as far as construction, i have dedicated this series to show it step by step.. here is the link to all the videos that pertain directly start to finish step by step.. hope that helps! dave ua-cam.com/play/PLO8l70qEp71MER1P0D-BBZza_gqzzmgp_.html

Hello, I want the box hehe, thank you very much por favor , felicitaciones por su trabajo
Dmax Controller !!! Great video Dave. How do you like the front motor compared to the rear motor. I hope you get to feeling better.

Are you doing any Simtools giveaways anytime soon?
Good question.. I have to check with the developer of simtools.. If he says yes, then it will happen for sure.. I hope he does!! Dave
What about using a heart effect instead of potentiometers?
DMAX CONTROLLER
Hi, I have a question for you. I'm building my 2-dof simulator.
I'm using 24 volt windshield wiper motors and I'm using a 24 volt 25 amp computerized power supply.
Is it normal that when the motor has to use more force, the power supply stops for a second? It sounds like it turns off for a second.
