Lions fan here. With protection Goff is an A- QB. Without protection he's a C- QB. A lot of people are stuck on the C- part... and a lot of people are stuck on the A- part. Both are wrong. Can Detroit get more of that A- QB for the next 3 seasons? I think so. We have enough pieces around him. He's worth the $53m. He's reliably healthy, accurate, understands defenses, great pre-snap reader, leader, etc... He'll never be Mahomes or Allen, but he doesn't need to be.
If Love waits 'til next year, he'll probably get $60m per. Assuming y'all think he's worth $55m this year... add a 10% increase in the cap for the 2025 season. That's $60m.
