This was the only version of Panama played with a lower gain! Everybody thinks Eddie had all this gain and he did not! The majority Of others covering this are using way too much gain!
Pretty good but quite stiff compared to the original. Too "safe" if you will. Those low open E bumps on top of the chord were also rushed. The breakdown (bridge) is also just played wrong in the beginning BUT, you're one of the only ones I've ever seen that gets the Cb over the E right - until the timing in the end of that phrase. I'm shocked at how many people miss that with the cool dissonance it creates so kudos!

It's kind of amazing that your tone is that bad, here and now in 2023. Getting a more authentic VH tone today is as simple as a plugin or a preset in a modeller or software amp sim. Your playing is solid, but your tone production needs to level up big time.

To your disgust, I’m actually happy with this tone, and have used it many of my EVH videos, where many kind folks have commented on their appreciation for this preset. It’s not the best but it’s close enough for most non-musicians to not notice a difference. I’m a musician and it’s close enough for me to not care. I’d do Van Halen covers with this sound.

I know what a good tone is. There's not an SS amp in the place other than a Fractal modeller. But if all you have is a 5150, I can understand your lack of understanding of tone. LOL.
