You can keep that pick. Stl will keep Dvorsky. Guy is a stud.
I think Dvorsky is going to atleast be a stud 2nd line shut down center behind Thomas one day. Very high on him.
Same dude. Very high upside! LGB!!!
@ 3:30 Luke Schenn is the fastest player in the game
Blues will GLADLY keep Dvorsky lmao. And your logic is hilarious, you ALWAYS take best available in first round, ESPECIALLY when it's top 15 pick. Especially for defenseman, on avg they take five years to develop and make an impact in nhl, which in five years nhl rosters are VASTLY different. And even if you have logjam of talent at one position, you just MOVE some of it for a weakness.
Oh Lego smh...Depth>top line players wins you games. A wise GM plays the long game which is why people dislike Nate as a high pick. Teams draft BPA based on need not stats. That's why I laughed at anyone predicting Yzerman drafting a winger AT ALL! I might agree on why you might disagree with using the 9 pick to draft utility but when you need a premium commodity that best suits your team, you might need to reach a bit. That's why you take that R handed d man or that utility penalty kill C or Reinbacher at 5th. Fringe playoff teams are starting to bet on their farm team stock now so it's not about tanking for #1/bpa anymore its about that very specific need. At least not for teams like Detroit, Vancouver, Buffalo, etc who are pushing their way back up toward playoff success.
I too, was leery of Danielson, but a deeper dive into his stats reveals that most of his pre-WHL seasons had him averaging two points-per-game. It's quite possible that his offensive upside is still there waiting to be unleashed. I just wish we had a chance to view him in some international games where we could have seen him play with some top players, but he had some bad luck with the timing of the U18 events.
Love the Canucks fans and your massive copium.
Calling Danielson and Dvorsky a player with a lower ceiling than the nucks pick is stupid.
They were picked earlier for a reason, especially for teams like STL who could use a D-man.
Dvorsky was simple the best player available
I think Vegas has proved that you have to roll 4 lines to win a cup if you don't have generational talent in your team.
securing depth at center is not a bad way build a contending team. Connor Bedard commented that Danielson was the toughest guy to play again. Can you imagine Van Vs Chi playoff in the future and having a third line centre that matches with Connor?
I think that is the rationale.
Surprised Danielson was getting top 12 hype after the draft including being picked at 9 by Detroit. When most mock drafts had him going around 16th or later.
Detroit had no right handed center in their entire system. So Danielson was deemed the best of all the RHC's.
Also Conner Bedard stated Danielson was the toughest opposing center to face in the WHL. So Detroit made the pick.
Sounds like Steve Yzerman knows what he's doing and the talking heads are just that
After watching the 3v3 tournament for detroit, I'm happy with the pick. Kid seems to have a good sense of getting to the net and staying involved in what's going on on the ice
Every mock draft is done with incomplete information
I was hoping that danielson would get drafted by the Canucks since he is from Red Deer.
Very interesting. Danielson value based on reliable floor. So a can't-miss pick in a sense? But really not sure why they would want just a reliable 3rd liner, great point. Intangibles we can't see perhaps? I really liked Dvorsky, would've been happy with him. I wasn't too big on Willander until a few weeks out from the draft the Canucks sub reddit swayed me. The more I find out about Willander the more excited I get.
I have a feeling Danielson will be another huge pick aka seider. I'm happy my blues got dvorsky, I also think Vancouver will have a great day man in Wallander
Dman
Simply put. Willander was a reach for Vancouver. Benson, Moore, Barlow, even Honzek are better options.
It was just developmental camp but nate looked good... think ur wrong on him.... seen people compare him to cozens
Cozens is a better skater and a little bigger. Danielson is better 2way
I was thinking Detroit going with a Wallinder and Willander combo. Oh well.
I was okay with Danielson, as the Detroit Lions had a player named Gary Danielson.
Kept it in the name family.
Dvorsky was the dream scenario; a strong, physical, defensively responsible centre with a great shot. Happy with Willander though; Dvorsky falling was always a long-shot.
I think the Blues got lucky picking Dvorsky at #10. Time will tell how these lads will play out, but I think Dvorsky is the best right now over Daniellson and Willander
Dalibor would've been a great pick, ill take willander tho. Both great players
Danielson's profile reminds me of Brandon dubinsky a little bit
Edit- also drafting based on future salary cap issues sounds like incredibly poor asset management
Willander is a good pick for the Canucks, you didn't need an "offensive" defenseman like ASP and with Reinbacher off the board Willander was an obvious choice. Some good players were overlooked by making that selection though but Willander is performing well in an adult league so there should be no concerns about his selection IMHO.
Noooooooo lego! Not after THIS week. Zadina was this mythical "BPA" you keep talking about; plus, since a bunch of idiot teams passed on him he was also the "draft steal of the century". A year later they called Sieder a "reach". Who's deciding BPA again? Cuz they don't seem so great at it. Yzerman chose Danielson because he liked his attitude during the interview, specifically about leading a struggling team since the Weat Kings were turrible. They are valuing leadership, and I'm for it.
Danielson's junior numbers are simply not high enough, especially as he is a big junior. With big kids in junior, unless elite skills are blatant, there is always a risk that their success, or a large part of it is simply because of size/strength. Everybody is strong at the next level so that advantage disappears.
If Benson, Dvorsky and Willander were all available my order would have been Dvorsky, Benson, and then Willander. I think we are going to watch Benson in the future and be jealous. Like us Canucks fans are with Tkackuk.
Lol in 2030 we’ll probably have a good idea if it was the right move or not
Your opinion of Danielson is WRONG
Canucks could of have two top picked if they didn't win any Games or fired the coach 5 picked at 44 points screwed themselves at 11 or 12 islanders picked The Drafted never moved Down if canucks just lose games
I'm so bored of draft picks talkings.
