If there are no flashy explosions, monster attacks, and people screaming their lungs out, the average american either falls asleep, insults the director mid-screening, or both. This is why Hollywood will always be Hollywood, they’re exclusively after the money, they don’t care about aesthetic values whatsoever. Watch some European cinema for a while and you’ll instantly notice the change. It’s also why the US adds more sugar to their soft drinks, makes meals jumbo sized, gives drugs away as if they were candy, etc etc. All part of the same rotten culture of consumerism.

I met Robert Eggers and Willem Dafoe at a private screening of his “The Lighthouse” movie. It was surreal. To my right was Willem. In front of me was Robert. To my left was my friend I went to the screening with. They were very friendly. Easy going. Looking forward to seeing this.

That “feels like a dream” sequence is spot on, and is also the bit that all other Dracula films miss. They portray the attack as fighting an actual monster, but in reality it’s more like being under the influence of a high dose of ketamine & heroin while on a bad trip.

You should also see Willem's other movie about the nosferatu, a movie about movie makers back in the early days of cinema making the first movie titled Nosferatu (1922?). Willem is as always supremely creepy when he wants.

Of course I dont handle/read that book, but do read a charity store version from time to time! Oddly enough I found a signed copy of Interview With a Vampire 1st ed. around 6 years back in a charity store, remarkable condition....for the princely sum of $2 I'm now stuck in a position where parting with Dracula would be in my best interests but I cant put myself to it hehe.
Looks like an almost direct copy of the various effects and general atmospherics of Coppolas Dracula , not saying I wouldn’t enjoy it but talk about lifting techniques !
The original Nosferatu was a remake of Dracula except without calling it that. FW Murnau couldn't get the rights to make Stoker's "Dracula" into a movie, so he kept the plot, changed some names, and bam, "NOSFERATU."
I actually think this is a remake of Werner Herzog's Nosferatu. The lead actress looks like Isabelle Adjani in that film, and it looks like they retained the idea of Dracula bringing rats and pestilence with him.

the original is a horror classic, the Herzog 1979 remake is not as terrifying but it is very moody and unsettling and quite a work of art. This one looks like it will pump up the scare factor. i'm looking forward to it.

There seems to be an authenticity to this.... something genuine, not over saturated with CGI...a dark, cold cobble stone feel to it.... I'm in.

I actually think this is a remake of Werner Herzog's Nosferatu. The lead actress looks like Isabelle Adjani in that film, and it looks like they retained the idea of Dracula bringing rats and pestilence with him.

considering the trailer seems to show the woman being largely powerless against the monster, no, it's not woke.. they will be throwing their toys in rage at the very idea a woman may have difficulty against any sort of antagonist, even in their trailers woke media refuse to show their cast in any real danger or controversial stances (hence make very bland "narratives").

the original is a horror classic, the Herzog 1979 remake is not as terrifying but it is very moody and unsettling and quite a work of art. This one looks like it will pump up the scare factor. i'm looking forward to it.
