I don't know if you'd read this, but after watching the Removal Edit immediately after The Blair Witch Project... You did good. Watching Blair Witch 2 for the first time in this form was a very eye-opening experience for me; Joe Berlinger's intended film is present and accounted for here, and although it's a downgrade from its predecessor, that is to be expected considering how great it was. Blair Witch 2 (this version) takes what worked about the first film (escalating tension, increasing paranoia and distrust, and dark undertones) and applies it to a new format, depicting group madness about a certain topic and doing it relatively well, with expected faults like some actors being better than others and continuity errors of it being a year after the first's release in-universe though the editing retained from the Artisan Book of Shadows cut states it's still 1999. It's fascinating how studio-meddling and reshoots and inserted scenes could turn a flawed, yet solid 7/10 standalone sequel to a horror classic into a 2/10 clusterfuck in the released Book of Shadows cut, and after watching this, I'll never stop feeling bad for the cast, crew and director who were forced to take this and destroy it per studio orders.
I definitely do read all feedback about the edit, I'm glad you liked it. It is really a shame what happened to Berlinger's film. What makes it worse to me is the fact that Artisan (now Lionsgate) has the directors cut basically locked away somewhere in their studios and refuses to release it. Though my Artisan removal edit is probably the closest thing we'll get to seeing the directors cut at this point, I would still like for them to release it in some way or another. So much hard effort and love was poured into BW2, you can see it. All the actors and crew loved making the movie, only for it to be turned into something unrecognizable to all of them.

Blair Witch 2 truly is to horror what The Thief and the Cobbler is to animation... And now, both have uncut fan edits-cum-restorations. Side note, I _love_ the use of Heather's monologue from the first film to usher us in in this cut; we briefly remember the first film's events before being immediately taken into the real world setting of the sequel. It further ties both films thematically and content-wise, I feel.

In Berlinger's cut, it shows Heather like this saying the exact words, though after she screams Josh!! it's meant to pause, and then zoom out slowly revealing her face paused on the MTV news broadcast rooms TV, as if they're watching it. The broadcasters then say "She'd be a much happier camper if she'd lived to see the box office grosses for this weekend!"
