Fuji's zoom lenses are absolutely amazing. But I also love the confidence the weather resistance on the 35 gives me. I don't think one can go wrong either way. Great video!
That is probably THE one thing I wish my lenses had. Most of the time I shoot in reasonable conditions but every now and again I feel a little more daring and the fact that my lenses will not work properly in some conditions is a bit annoying. Heh means I will have more stuff to explore later on ^^
Great video. I've had a similar experience to you starting off with the 18-55mm, and then buying the 23mm f2, but not really feeling inspired to use it. I've now traded this in for the 55-200 and I'm excited to try this lens out!
i know this is quite late, but you quite literally had the exact same thought process as me! the only difference is that I started with a prime, but I still feel you when you talk about how you didn't feel like shooting with it
Yes the 18-55 is truly a fantastic lens. I am very glad that I gave it a proper shot, hopefully in the future I will do the same for the 35mm as well ^^
So happy that you are back! It made my day to see that you posted a new video! Great topic! I love my 55-200 lens. Looking forward to more of your videos!
I agree with you. When I migrated to Fujifilm I did some research about the gear that would be the best fit for the type of photography I do (I usually do landscape and travel photography and I like to travel very light) so right out of the bat I bought an X-T30, the 18-55mm and the 55-200mm. Honestly, I don't need more, these two lenses cover most of the focal length I need and produce very good image quality. Now I'm thinking about upgrade to the upcoming 70-300mm (and a teleconverter, for wildlife photography), but I'm not selling the 55-200mm until I'm positively sure I don't need it anymore.
Oh please do share how are you finding extreme telephoto lens once you get it. I’m so curious to find out more 🤓 I feel like I’m missing the ultra wide lens right now, with cropped sensor camera my 18mm become ~ 28mm and I find that it is just not wide enough 😅
I own all three 18-55, 16-80 and 16-55. 16-55 is the best in terms of everything. WR, sharpness, night time photography. You take amazing images I felt. Get an used 16-55. It is little heavy but the images I get from it are amazing.
Thanks for sharing your journey to finding the right lens cause only time will tell what suits you best as there are so much options. Can see you were having so fun editing the video gahaha, great content as always!
Enjoyed the video. As someone who has photographed nearly 15,000 images on the 18-55mm, I can say that it is indeed a good lens. Better than any kit lens from other manufacturers. However, I absolutely adore the 35mm f2. I personally find prime lenses work better for me in terms of image quality that I desire but also with how I shoot. I shoot 90% manual/10% in aperture priority. Keep up the good work, and I want to see more of your journey!
Thank you very much. I think I was a little premature with my decision to switch to a 35mm, now with a little more time shooting and a little more time working out what I want from my photography I am quite keen to try my hand at some prime lenses again ^^ I would love to check out some of your shots, maybe on Instagram? :)
Thanks !!! - I dont feel alone though my personal Journey. It seems pretty mcuh to my history looking better pictures with cameras and lens !!! thanks for the funy video and share your thougths.
Oh Cheers Santiago, I'm so happy it has resonated ( YAY)....I guess telephoto lens is quite specific and despite being super amazing and awesome ( Yes I'm biased), very little people might find it necessary!
Its a bad thing to call the XF 18-55 kit lesne, although it is kit lense, but Fuji actually made the best kit lense so far, so versitile to use for both filming and shooting. So this is worth metioning that its well build and desinged kit lense, use it for the landscape photography very often and it suprises me all the time
I really appreciate you being transparent...I think this will help a lot of people. Social media is obviously making it about "The Gear"...but it about The Gear You Have. I have also used the same set-up for two years since I crossed over from Canon and then Sony. For my professional endeavors I have upgraded to the 16-55mm 2.8 (black friday sale) and will be purchasing the 50-140. Everything else will be old school vintage lenses....Thanks Lady for this video!!!!!!
I really like it for video work as well, although I mostly use my a7iii for broll and such. the 18-55mm is surprisingly more stable than many have led my to believe, which is obviously a super awesome plus when it comes to video ^^
I am a great believer of using the best tool you can at your disposal at any given time. When we shoot our videos it is quite often that the a7iii is for video and the XT-3 is for photos :)
@@ClassicPolly Just curious, since you shoot mostly JPGs, have you tried the different film simulation recipes from FujiX weekly? They're quite nice. 😁 Edit: It would be nice if you could showcase some of them on your future videos. 😁✌🏽️
Cheers Olaf! Felt quite vulnerable sharing this video as I felt like I'm the only photographer who keeps making wrong choices despite all the research. Thank you so much for your kind words- it means a lot to me!
I owned *many* fuji lenses in the past, and tried many, and now I only own the 18-55mm, I am also contemplating getting the 55-200mm as well for long distance landscape, mountains, valleys, etc..
My thinking here is that with 18-55 and 55-200 you are pretty much covered, the only thing I'm missing right now is the wide angle lens...I think it might be my next buy- just need to wait for the juicy Xmas discounts!
@@ClassicPolly The 27mm is an excellent lens optically but not wide enough for my purpose, this is why I opted to keep the 18-55. I also had a 9mm Laowa another excellent lens but too much vigneting. Maybe the 12mm Rokinon, what do you think?
@@karimnasser9226 12mm Rokinon is a manual focus only right? If it suits your photography needs I think it might be a good buy. I've got my eye on 8-16mm f/2.8 but its pricey and double the size of 10-24mm, but then again it's f/4. Choices choices... XD
@@ClassicPolly I don't use it as much as I expected. Though, I did get very nice results shooting a student play at my wife's school. My son uses it for sports photography - my grand-daughter's lacrosse games - and gets good results. I may try to use it for landscapes come spring time and no COVID.
Personally I find 35mm f2 to be a great leans, I just wasn't ready for it when I bought it. Best advice I can give ( if I may)- try to rent couple of lenses before buying one ( if you can) and see which one you like the most ;)
Thanks for your video! I have used prime lenses on a X-T4. But I realize that I have missed many shots because of the fixed lenses. So I bought a 18-55 lens after seeing your video!👍 I hope I can get good images like yours! I always get inspirations from your channel. Thank you!=)
Oh thank you so much for your kind words! They literally made my day! Hope you’ll get a good use out of this lens- get out more, shoot more and keep it breezy 😉
Also suggest the 10-24mm F/4 to consider for landscapes and close quarters shooting. I have the 18-55 and 35 f/2, looking to add this 55-200 to round out the range.
Glad to be back and thank you very much! Since it is almost always below zero now I think I will be shooting quite a bit in the newly renovated space and I am sure there will be time for a quick studio tour/video ^^
Bought the xt2 with the 18-55 kit lens recently as a camera to use so I’m not taking out my Sony’s that I use for weddings. I love the Sony’s and use the 85, 55, 24. All fast primes so I’m use to good glass on the really fast Sony’s. So far I’m really happy with the combo of the xt2 and 18-55 f2.8 -5.6 is it ?? I have taken it out doing landscape photos and some photos around home and love the results. Going to pick up the 55-200 tomorrow morning after looking it up all day. My new adventure of wild camping and landscape photography. Can’t wait. It’s also a back up camera for the weddings incase 1 of my wedding ones go faulty. I’m selling my Sony 28mm and sigma 35mm to pay for this 55-200 😂😂 love the compression of it so I have some images already in mind for it :)
I have them both from the beginning (2017)- 1st one was 55-200 , 2nd Samyang 12mm f/2.0 , 3rd 18-50 , 4th Meike 25mm T 2.2 . Prime lenses are good only if you shooting specific project but they the worst if going out for street shots and travel . Forget it. I use more 55-200 than other lenses , specially for portraits , but here is better lens just much heavier and more expensive - 52-140 f/2.8 .
Yeah I agree. I love a good zoom lens for travel or streets, I'm getting so used to them that I think I'll be looking at primes again at some point soon - just to spice the things up.
I really enjoy the way you hone on topics. I only have the kit kens after buying the x-t4. I want to get more acquainted with it to be able to shoot lovely photos with it. At the same time saving up for a few other lens I want. Watching this video backed up my thoughts. I do want to get my hands on a 35mm and now a 55-200mm. Zoom lenses has such versatility to them. I'm very glad I stumbled upon your channel. Keep up the great work Polly!
Nice content, so true for me also, XT3 is my first camera with 18-55mm . This lens is really good in some situations it has performed better than i expected. Looking forward for more content from you, it was really well put together and inspiring 👍.
Funny, I just bought the 18-55 & 55-200 myself. Why? For variable zooms, they're fast! 2.8-4.0 & 3.5-4.8. That's awesome for variable zooms. I'm one who's happy with F4 and both of these fit that bill. Compared to similar Nikon, Canon & Sony variable zooms, these are smaller and faster. It's a win-win! Great video!
You nailed it - congratulations . It is always about seeing and telling the story. Whether you use a prime or a zoom . You have legs and can use that as an extension of the lens to move in or back from the subject. We all have our way of working and for some, they will be close up to fill the frame with standard or semi wide lens...the same holds true on your zoom. I am pleased you have found the combination that works best for you. We all need to find that out; and for some, it takes a while to get there . You have great camera and the kit lens is one of the best made. I use a different camera to yours, but I too use the kit lens and find it delivers . The why is because of what you discovered. I keep it light and compact and readily available . It is an extension of my phone and compliments of needs perfectly . I also produce one photo book each year and I have various ideas for future books. Some pictures work best in colour and others in monotone , and then again others work great in either . Remember this that I learned from somebody else. Unless you print your images or put them in a book, they just remain data . So , promise to print something to put on the table or hung on the wall and you will have a reminder of more than a picture , but of an adventure and a time that has past, yet lives on in to the future. And yes, you can post online too, but just data and not a photo . Good luck with all your intentions going forward .
I have done two this year - photo books that is. One each for my daughters . I keep promising to do one for myself as a coffee table, but think it is a little to vain ha ha. I have also my third book to finish that began when the children were younger and of course the poetry book as well. Since I refuse to contemplate retirement because I don’t know what I’m going to do with my time lol, but confident I shall discover something come that time. In short. I am of the view we should react like children with astonishment at what we encounter and live in the moment that what the future may hold , so find I am busy all the time . Fill you time with positive endeavours and the world engages differently . Of course, you need quite times to reflect and yoga helps . Hope that helps you to be inspired and I look forward to your next video : Carmen
Hi, just stumbled upon your channel while searching xt3 for street photography as I also own the silver model as well and watched a few of your videos, really enjoyed them keep up the good work.
@@ClassicPolly i have the kit 18-55 and 55-200 on my canon 600d but i recently bought a fuji xt30 and only have 35mm f2 so far, have you tried the 70-300 yet?
Fun but well thoughtout content. Thanks for bringing us to the wins and failures along the way. Did you uodatebto a new pair? I also have the kit lens since forever, I bought a 7artisan 35mm but rarely uses it and now thinking about a telephoto lens. Do you have recommendations? Is it still the 55-200? TIA!
Thanks so much for your kind words! Since I transitioned into video work, my lens gear has changed a little. Nowadays I mostly shoot on 17-28 mm and 28-75 mm lenses, this way I cover majority of the focal length.
I am considering to buy a xt3 or a xt4 . I come from Sony cameras for video and photography so I spent as you hundreds hours searching on UA-cam the best of the best first lens to buy as I don’t know the Fuji eco system. During that and as I love seeing POV street photography one day I « fell » on your Chanel and I instantly love it. The video of today is exactly in my mood of the moment . So if I decide myself you will be the first that really consider the path from another brand to Fuji in the right way. Suscribed so, always a pleasure to see your products. I have to watch all the others . I don’t thank you for the missing of sleep time it will produce :) good work !
Interesting, I still use Sony for my paid gigs and fuji is more of an “artistic” impression! I’m super happy you like the content and I’m sorry for the sleepless nights it might have caused! Thanks for being here and supporting this channel!
I really appreciate your lovely words, thank you! Yeah I can only imagine how gorgeous Bruges must be in the spring time, I wish I could be there to capture it ;)
Cheers, I’m super happy you found it interesting. This subject can get quite boring at points so we worked hard to make sure there was a bit of humour and entertainment sprinkled in!
Another great video. I also use the 55-200mm lens and it's great. I pair it with the XC 35mm f2 (the plastic non weather sealed one) and love it. I also have the 16-80mm f4 Kit lens, but it's almost the same size as the 55-200mm so I haven't used it since getting the other two. All of this kit (including camera) for less than $2k is a welcome breath of fresh air coming from a Sony where everything was $1k+
but the pulp fiction reference tho. probably one of the best one i ve seen on the internet. real simple and in good taste. perhaps a tad too much repetition on the misirlou spinoff, but the fact that it's a spinoff in itself, and not the original one, just opens up a whole new can of worms into how much work you ve put into this. thanks. and yeah. thanks for the headsup on the lenses too. looking as a videographer.
Great video! Funny that I went with the same ideas as you. I quickly convinced myself I would need another lens that would a prime one (35mm f/2), and another one for travel (27mm f/2.8 because pancake). But this is the tree hiding the forrest. The 18-55mm kit lens is actually a great lens that I rediscovered. The only downside is that it's bigger and heavier than both primes, so I mostly use my 27mm pancake lens daily, because it's light and compact. But when I go out shooting, I prefer taking the 18-55mm with me. Gear matters, and it's a pleasure to look after new gear, but it's not _required_ to make great shots. I would rather think rationaly about getting a longer focal length to have a different view (55-200 or 70-300).
Just found your channel! Great stuff. Inspiring! :) I also have the 18-55 with the XH1. Love that lens. Really enjoy your POV streetphoto vlogs. Keep it up! :) Subscribed.
Welcome to my channel Stefan and thanks for you lovely words! Glad to know you enjoying my POVs. There is a snow one coming out this week so keep your 👀 peeled! Have a lovely day!
Good to see you again Polly. I have the XF 16 f/2.8, the XF 35 f/2 and the XF 50 f/2, but honestly, they stay home most of the time, they are sharper than my zooms (if you’re pixel peeping). I did have the XF 18-55 (great lens) but I wanted a little more on both ends so I got the XF 16-80 and as I previously mentioned, I also have the XF 55-200 (yes, Fuji did repair it and it works great) those two are the only lenses I carry with me when I go out (for now). BTW, my X-T4 is silver (LOL). Stay safe.
@@ClassicPolly Yes, they replaced the aperture ring mechanism, they claim that someone didn't catch the issue while going through quality control, buy as they say, it is what it is and now it's on to enjoy photography.
Very much enjoyed this video, but PLEASE turn down the volume on your background music. I liked the use of the Dick Dale-ish guitar to punctuate and emphasize the drama. But the constant aimlessly noodling background music during your narration was irritating and extremely distracting! Otherwise, it was excellent and I will subscribe. I'd also like to add that these are the same two Fuji lenses that I choose to use the most. I love the full coverage from 18mm to 200mm. Plus they are relatively lightweight and compact (not to mention less expensive) that similar lenses with a larger aperture. Having said this, if I'm traveling as a tourist and only want one single lens to carry, then I also own the Fuji 18-135mm. This is a nice compact lens for the focal range and I consider it to be my Swiss Army lens. P.S. It's nice to see a cute girl with a bubbly creative personality reviewing camera equipment, as opposed to the usual sausage fest.
I have a kind of simular experience. I use Sony cameraes and I buy far to many lenses for these cameraes. Out of boredom during the lockdown I bought a Fujifilm xt20 with the 18-55 f 2.8-4 becaurse I always was curios on fujifilm and their classy bodies. Very quickly I figured out that I also wanted the 55-200mm and nothing more. Finding peace with the gear I already own was the Best that could happen to me and today I love My simple setup and I use My fujifilm more and more. For My Sony cameraes I never found that peace and I still buy ever more lenses in that setup. Thanks for sharing your experience in a funny and unconventionel way.
I’m glad this video resonated with you! It does take time to find “ your tools” that you are comfortable to work but also that make you excited to keep shooting! I’m happy you found yours!
Hahaha! Amazing! I went on basically the same journey as you. Currently I'm considering the 55-200. 😅 I'd recommend trying the 16-55 f2.8 instead, I chose that over the 18-55 wirth a lot of consideration and I just haven't been able to pull it off my camera since. Totally worth the arm and leg you pay for it. 😊
Great video, I have been considering the 55-200 to go with my 18-55. Your thought process really has helped me reach a decision to purchase the 55-200. Do you know if that lens is made in Japan or some other country? tk you
I have 35mm f2 and 18-55. I Will sell 18-55 and buy a 16mm 2.8. I dont like zoom in zoom out. I enjoy when I cant change mm, Moving around the subject and find Best frame with fixed lens 👍 and prime lenses focus very Fast and silent. This is very useful when recording video
You just popped up on UA-cam 😊 I have the 18-55, but also traded a couple of primes for the 16-80. I've just traded another couple of lenses for the 55-200, It should be delivered tomorrow. I find the zoom lenses to be more versatile. Looking forward to trying the 55-200. It's a different kind of street photography with that range. Subscribed for your informative and amusing videos. I loved the " big mistake " spraying coffee everywhere 😂
Great video, very real. I have the 18-55mm & the 55-200mm lenses too, they're awesome. The prime lenses are awesome too, shame you couldn't have hung onto the 35mm as it is very good. As an aside, what is the colour of the wall paint in your new studio setting? I would like to use it in my studio too! Thanks and keep up the great work, I love it!
Thank you very much! I am very glad for the brief time I had the 35mm with me, that lens made me realise that the road ahead is long, exciting and hard. I know I will be getting my hands on the 35mm in the future, I miss the small size of the lens ^^. In regards to the paint all I can say it is matte blue (darker tones), unfortunately I threw away the exact color designation.
@@ClassicPolly Thanks for that, I'll have to take a look at the paint colour samples! You're quite correct about photography, it's a long road alright, it also has many twists & turns too but it's always interesting & exciting! The 'kit Lens' is truly amazing, not really a kit lenses tbh, I'm pleased that you're sticking with it as it's a really awesome lens. Just continue to shoot in your style & enjoy life, you'll capture more awesome pics for sure!
Hello there.... I´m moving from Canon to Fuji, i have the same questions you had... i waiting for my prime lent .... The Super Kit Lents and the secound one will be ..... Your Super Secound lents.... Thanks so much for it.
I am Fuji prime guy, mostly the 23mmF2, but I need to have some supplement primes as 16, 35, 50mn to do everything. So I can see why You were not happy with the 35mm, and why the zooms are the Better solution for You. And who cares, it is the pictures that count. Keep safe 👊 Kenneth
Absolutely agree Kenneth. I feel like with my 35mm purchase I was simply not ready for it. I will be definitely exploring a little more with different primes next year ^^
Fun video atm i too am on this lens review trip but tbh i find that half of the fun. Al i know is that i am getting the X-t3 silver offcourse, and a prime, still debating the 56mm 1.2 or some other fast ones ( so expensive!) But i am not jumping from my phone, have the x100T for 3 years now so i am used to "zoom with my feet" i also massively prefer fast lenses for indoor shots/video.
True that, looking for that perfect lens is part of the fun for sure! If I was to shoot events or indoors predominantly fast prime lenses with low aperture would be my preference too. I’m sad that I’ve sold my 35f2 lens, I will be looking to get it again at some point soon even though 55mm1.2 does sound good too 🙄😏😅
I love your work! I also have the same combo 18-55 and the 35 f2 and I feel like I'm all set most days...but there are days I'm longing for a telephoto of some sort lol. I converted my 70-200mm f4 minolta from an old Sony but the manual focus stinks. Now I'm torn between the 55-200 or Viltrox 85mm or even the viltrox 56.
Thanks a lot Paolo. Can you get these lenses to rent and see which one you prefer more? After owning a telephoto zoom, Viltrox 85mm sounds pretty good to me! I
Yeah the kitlens is not bad! I also still use it sometimes. The problem is.. Im never really excited or amazed when I see 18-55 shots. I've seen many 18-55 shots form both myself and online... They just never give me the woow emotion. Also the limitation of the prime (fixed focal length) really forces me to take more artistic shots. And think about how to frame your picture instead of zooming.. However, it took me a many months to actually learn how to work with the 35mm. Right now, I just know ill have more keepers if I mount the 35 instead of the Kitlens an a typical day shooting.
@@ClassicPolly yes thanks! I guess what I basically meant is that I don’t know how many months you tried the 35mm?! But for most ppl it really takes a while to learn to zoom with your feet and frame your shot with a prime. Only then you will be probably blown away by the superior Bokeh, rendering and low light capabilities of the prime compared to the kit.
I didn't like my 35mm f1.4 too..tbh the angle is just boring to me...And just like you I returned back to my kit lens, and been using it ever since. XT-3 XC 16-50 f3.5-5.6
It’s wonderful to hear that there are some people out there that have the similar experience to me! Thanks so much for watching and supporting this channel!
Cheers, I haven't actually shot video with this lens yet, I mainly use it for photography. I shoot video on my sony a7iii 24-70, all my videos on this channel are shot with this camera ;)
I recently moved from Sony with the NEX7to Fuji. I had the old X-T1 but just used it with older manual primes at that time, I de ided on a newer body and bought the X-T30 ii to complement the old but still great X-T1 my first fuji oens mainly for versatility was the XF 18-135 whi h for me was a great starter lens. I then bought a used XF10-24MMF4 and I am now on the lookout for a longer zoom my ideal was the XF 70-300 but that is close to new price even used and for almost the same price I can get a XF 100-400 but that will be a later purchase for jow. So my dilema is XF 50-200 or the mark 2 XC 50-230 a bit more reach at less than half the price and the reviews seem very favourable and I ould get a non Fuji prime as well, or keep the extra and keep saving for the XF 100-400 ? There are some great pretty cheap 3rd party primes available these days for Fuji well great in thzt not seen any really bad re iews and eevn with the few niggles these lenses have are still very close to original Fuji glass at well under half the price. Just wish Fuji would get a grip on produ tion/suppy/shipping issues and a budget model like a new A series would be welcome as well.
Another great video and it's always good to know what a pro photographer thinks about their gear. I'll stick with the X-T1 and 18-55 for now until I reach another level, then perhaps go for the X-T3 :-)
Haha, Im glad you liked it. I’ve tried to make a semi boring subject as entertaining as I could! So what have you decided in regards to the kit lens then?😅😏🙄
@@ClassicPolly I would buy that kit lens. Anyway I like to take some photos on the street and portrait photography, could the lens good enough to freeze and take every moments? Or I should buy the prime lens? 35 and 50mm?
Xt3 wr but 18-55 and 55-200 are not. I wonder do you need to use them under rain or snow time to time(not maybe heavy rain) ? By the way love your contents!:)
Cheers! Well I used both in the light rain and light snow and they both have survived. However, it’s important to remember they are not WR so please do that cautiously!
You are incorrect. Variable f stop doesn't have anything to do with how sharp a lens can be. If you did so much research, why didn't you conclude that the 18-55 is actually insanely good.
Hi.I am going for a new camera i.e. XT3. I have a XC 50 to 230 which i recently purchased. Will it be fine to get the XF 18- 55 as kit lense? Will these two will be sufficient for street??
I never know how to answer these ones. All I can ever say is that there is never any need to rush into buying something. This kit works really well for me for pretty much any street scenario outside of maybe night photography ^^
The 18 -55 ... I am happy with my 16-55 but I’d get the kit for my girlfriend. I just got her the 55-200 for Christmas. I believe for the most part the more you pay the better the lens.... the 16 2-8 (which I owned) is ok where as replacing it with an amazing 16 1.4 was worth the money. As for the weight , size and investment protection anxiety, yes, these are serious considerations.
More humour... 😄👍 your natural at it.. 😄😄 when you spat your drink out i did the same.. 😄😄👍 Nice to see you back. Regards.... Steve XT3 Silver 18-55 18-135 100-400 Wooly Hat Boots Dog 🤔😄🙂👍👋🖐👋🖐

@@untitre9030 thank you, it means a lot to me!

The 18 55 is amazing! I’m pretty much sorted with the 18-55 and 35f2 combo. Fun video and gorgeous photos too. Thanks for the inspiration 🤘🏼
Yes the 18-55 is truly a fantastic lens. I am very glad that I gave it a proper shot, hopefully in the future I will do the same for the 35mm as well ^^
same here. I have the same combo and totally satisfied

Thank you so much, I try to think of things I wanted to hear when I was stuck with difficult choices and what not. Glad that it does shine through ^^
Thanks for sharing your insights! I'm now considering to take my kit lens out for some POV Street photography over a 85 prime later today!
Oh it’s always nice to mix things up a little! Thanks for watching and supporting!
I’m so curious to find out more 🤓
I feel like I’m missing the ultra wide lens right now, with cropped sensor camera my 18mm become ~ 28mm and I find that it is just not wide enough 😅
How about going for the 50-140 f 2.8
I own all three 18-55, 16-80 and 16-55. 16-55 is the best in terms of everything. WR, sharpness, night time photography. You take amazing images I felt. Get an used 16-55. It is little heavy but the images I get from it are amazing.
Thanks for sharing your journey to finding the right lens cause only time will tell what suits you best as there are so much options. Can see you were having so fun editing the video gahaha,
great content as always!
Thank you very much and yes I had quite a bit of fun with this one, very glad to be back on UA-cam again :)
I think I was a little premature with my decision to switch to a 35mm, now with a little more time shooting and a little more time working out what I want from my photography I am quite keen to try my hand at some prime lenses again ^^
I would love to check out some of your shots, maybe on Instagram? :)
@@ClassicPolly sure! Just check out jrburrow.photography
I am learning while being totally entertained! The reason why I'm a fan...
Keep safe Classic Polly. 😊
Thank you so very much! This was such fun to shoot and I am glad that you liked the video ^^
This is the exact same combo I have as well. I actually would throw in the 14mm f2.8 as my fast wide(r) angle lens.
Thanks !!! - I dont feel alone though my personal Journey. It seems pretty mcuh to my history looking better pictures with cameras and lens !!! thanks for the funy video and share your thougths.
Anytime Gustavo, glad it has resonated with you.
Great video, it has so much truth in it. I also have a 55-200mm and I am questioning myself why people don't talk more about this lens?
Oh Cheers Santiago, I'm so happy it has resonated ( YAY)....I guess telephoto lens is quite specific and despite being super amazing and awesome ( Yes I'm biased), very little people might find it necessary!
Wow....that was a crispy , crunchy video.....lovely visuals.....enjoyed the humor while feeling the pain of "lens choice" !!! Well done.
Thank you very much! I felt like after such a long break I should bring my A game and have a bit of fun on the shoot :)
Stepping up the production values on this one😀 Great job. Really enjoyed watching this one, keep up the good work.
Cheers Steve, super happy you enjoyed the video and thanks for noticing the effort! Have a lovely day 😉
Its a bad thing to call the XF 18-55 kit lesne, although it is kit lense, but Fuji actually made the best kit lense so far, so versitile to use for both filming and shooting. So this is worth metioning that its well build and desinged kit lense, use it for the landscape photography very often and it suprises me all the time
Couldn’t agree more 👍🏻
I recently bought my XT-4 with the same kit lens a few months ago... I've enjoyed every minute of my journey so far! Love this camera
Oh that's great to know! What are you shooting mostly?
I really appreciate you being transparent...I think this will help a lot of people. Social media is obviously making it about "The Gear"...but it about The Gear You Have. I have also used the same set-up for two years since I crossed over from Canon and then Sony. For my professional endeavors I have upgraded to the 16-55mm 2.8 (black friday sale) and will be purchasing the 50-140. Everything else will be old school vintage lenses....Thanks Lady for this video!!!!!!
Yeah, it’s about REALLY knowing your own gear so it can serve you the best it can. Thanks so much for watching and supporting this lol channel 😉
I have the 18-55 & X-T3 combo too. Plus my 23 1.4. I can say, the 18-55 is really good especially for videos.
I really like it for video work as well, although I mostly use my a7iii for broll and such. the 18-55mm is surprisingly more stable than many have led my to believe, which is obviously a super awesome plus when it comes to video ^^
@@ClassicPolly I never knew you had an a7iii and i'm surprised that you keep shooting with the Fuji considering the a7iii has IBIS and is FF too. 😁
Edit: It would be nice if you could showcase some of them on your future videos. 😁✌🏽️
That sound like an EPIC idea, it is now in my future videos notebook ^^
love your energy, positivity and attitude. thanks for all the info and help! you've got a subscriber in me!
Oh that’s so very kind of you Stephen! This message literally made my day, thank you!!!
Thank you Polly! One of the honest and funniest videos about lenses I have ever seen.
XD
Love the setup, lighting is gorgeous and the colour of the walls is so good x
Thanks Ollie, it’s taken us forever to get this dark blue colour right- but I’m glad we took our time☺️
I like the video! Photos colors is so nice, can you share your color recipes???
Woah! This video was just plain awesome! Great Storytelling :)
Thank you very much! Loved shooting the project from start to finish ^^
Such a well made video, thanks! You got yourself a new subscriber!
Appreciate you Kaspar!
Like you, I started with the kit lens and then the 55 - 200. Great lenses.
Couldn’t agree more! How are you finding to shoot on telephoto lens?
@@ClassicPolly I don't use it as much as I expected. Though, I did get very nice results shooting a student play at my wife's school. My son uses it for sports photography - my grand-daughter's lacrosse games - and gets good results. I may try to use it for landscapes come spring time and no COVID.
Oh that’s so interesting! Great to learn that both of you make a good use out of this lens.
After your video my idea changed from 35mm f2 with 55-200, to 18-55 and 55-200, with maaaaaaybeeee someday the 35 mm.
So I bought a 18-55 lens after seeing your video!👍
I hope I can get good images like yours!
I have the 18-55 and 35 f/2, looking to add this 55-200 to round out the range.
my fav lens on Fuji is 35mm currant is the 35 F2 lens, I am cosidering that 55-200 lens seeing lot of good results on here
fantastic video as always. nice to see you back, would love to see a video on the studio makeover
Glad to be back and thank you very much! Since it is almost always below zero now I think I will be shooting quite a bit in the newly renovated space and I am sure there will be time for a quick studio tour/video ^^
@@ClassicPolly super. Have a wonderful Sunday
You too :)
Thank you very much. I am glad I was of some help and that you enjoyed the video. Welcome to the club ^^
Nice content, so true for me also, XT3 is my first camera with 18-55mm . This lens is really good in some situations it has performed better than i expected. Looking forward for more content from you, it was really well put together and inspiring 👍.
Thanks so much, I’m really happy you loving the content! Yay!
Love the video! Entertaining and informative 👍🏼
Yay, super happy you enjoyed it! Have a wonderful day 😉
Funny, I just bought the 18-55 & 55-200 myself.
Totally agree with you Darren!
Thanks so much for your lovely comment Carmen. Safe to assume you will be producing a photo book this year? If so, let me know how is it going!
Hope that helps you to be inspired and I look forward to your next video : Carmen
i'm using xf18-55mm and xc50-230mm lenses with x-t3. i guess i'm happy as long as my lenses cover the whole relevant focal lenght range (:
Yeah that's pretty much my thinking here :)
I've just got my 18-55 for a couple of days. No regrets. Btw, I subbed your channel. You have many amazing videos! Keep it up!!!

Hello, just came across your channel! your videos (and photos) are great, i think i am going to have to look at a 55-200 lens soon!
Thanks a million for your kind words! Yes, telephoto lens is super dope!
You should go and put your fine talent to work in the amazingly wonderful city of Bruges. Especially in the coming weeks when spring starts.
I really appreciate your lovely words, thank you! Yeah I can only imagine how gorgeous Bruges must be in the spring time, I wish I could be there to capture it ;)
Great video, thanks for your story. Cheers.
Glad you enjoyed it Hugo!
Thank you for this fun and INTERESTING video.
Yup, I also own a Sony a7iii and pretty much never even dare to think about new lenses :)))
but the pulp fiction reference tho.
probably one of the best one i ve seen on the internet. real simple and in good taste.
perhaps a tad too much repetition on the misirlou spinoff, but the fact that it's a spinoff in itself, and not the original one,
just opens up a whole new can of worms into how much work you ve put into this. thanks. and yeah. thanks for the headsup on the lenses too. looking as a videographer.
Haha, what can I say I'm a big fan of Tarantino movies! Appreciate your kind words mate!
@@ClassicPolly Great! Looking forward to it :)
Great video. Subbed. This is reassuring re: zoom lens are okay especially if I enjoy more not changing lenses! Thank you.
100% true! Plus zoom lenses are perfect for travelling, instead of carrying 4 prime lenses I can get away with only two- this is a big win for me!
Thank you so much! :)

Studio looks great. Really wish I had a nice studio space. Lol great b roll ! I need a lot of work on my B-Roll
Oh thanks, there was a lot of sweat and tears put into making this studio - glad you enjoyed it!
I like your humor actually 😄👌👌
Good to see you again Polly. I have the XF 16 f/2.8, the XF 35 f/2 and the XF 50 f/2, but honestly, they stay home most of the time, they are sharper than my zooms (if you’re pixel peeping). I did have the XF 18-55 (great lens) but I wanted a little more on both ends so I got the XF 16-80 and as I previously mentioned, I also have the XF 55-200 (yes, Fuji did repair it and it works great) those two are the only lenses I carry with me when I go out (for now). BTW, my X-T4 is silver (LOL). Stay safe.
Glad to be back ^^ and very glad to hear that they have sorted out your 55-200 lens. It seemed to be quite the journey :)
@@ClassicPolly Yes, they replaced the aperture ring mechanism, they claim that someone didn't catch the issue while going through quality control, buy as they say, it is what it is and now it's on to enjoy photography.
Glad to hear that all is good in the end :)
Excellent work Polly. Can you describe your XT3 focus technique including aperture selection for street work please in another video?
Cheers Stuart, oh this is something I might talk about in the future, thanks for that.
I absolutely enjoyed your video :)
Cheers Anthony, your support and love really means a lot!!
Since I bought 56/1.2 and 35/2 I stopped using 18-55. The difference is HUGE!
Oh I can bet!
there are better prime lenses , but 56 and 35 are not good for street or landscape. Try out 55-200 or 52-140 then you will sell your primes :)
@@WitcherDAD hahaha bullshit. everyone have his own favorite
Haha I’m happy my journey has resonated lol! Yeah 16-55mm is a dream, hopefully one day 😅
Great video, I have been considering the 55-200 to go with my 18-55. Your thought process really has helped me reach a decision to purchase the 55-200. Do you know if that lens is made in Japan or some other country? tk you
I'm glad it helped you! Just checked and it says it was made in Taiwan!

That's great that you have found your fays of shooting that suit you the best! I think once I'm over my zoom bonanza I'll jump on primes as well LOL
You just popped up on UA-cam 😊
I have the 18-55, but also traded a couple of primes for the 16-80. I've just traded another couple of lenses for the 55-200, It should be delivered tomorrow.
Thank you very much and yes will absolutely keep on shooting. Have a lovely Sunday :)
Hello there.... I´m moving from Canon to Fuji, i have the same questions you had... i waiting for my prime lent .... The Super Kit Lents and the secound one will be ..... Your Super Secound lents.... Thanks so much for it.
Great video! What gear do you use to shoot the b roll in your videos (slow motion etc.)? Thanks!
B-roll is shot on Sony A7iii+ F/4 24-70mm
I really love your content!
This makes me super happy! Thank you 😊
I am Fuji prime guy, mostly the 23mmF2, but I need to have some supplement primes as 16, 35, 50mn to do everything.
Al i know is that i am getting the X-t3 silver offcourse, and a prime, still debating the 56mm 1.2 or some other fast ones ( so expensive!)
But i am not jumping from my phone, have the x100T for 3 years now so i am used to "zoom with my feet" i also massively prefer fast lenses for indoor shots/video.
True that, looking for that perfect lens is part of the fun for sure!
If I was to shoot events or indoors predominantly fast prime lenses with low aperture would be my preference too. I’m sad that I’ve sold my 35f2 lens, I will be looking to get it again at some point soon even though 55mm1.2 does sound good too 🙄😏😅
You should include camera/lens used on the photo taken. It can help people suffering from GAS!
Best,
G
G.A.S as if gear accumulation syndrome? 🤪 Well there is only one camera that I use and two lenses- not much to guess there 😅
I love your work!
I agree here the 55-200 is compact and sharp.
On your website at the bottom, you have put Sing Up now for the monthly photoclub
Yes, if you want to sign up for the monthly photo club you can do so there ;)
Yeah the kitlens is not bad!
That’s interesting. Super happy you found the lens that keeps you happy and excited to get out and shoot 😉
Brava grazie dall'Italia 💖💖💖😘😘😘
I didn't like my 35mm f1.4 too..tbh the angle is just boring to me...And just like you I returned back to my kit lens, and been using it ever since.

It’s wonderful to hear that there are some people out there that have the similar experience to me! Thanks so much for watching and supporting this channel!
what are ur thoughts on the 16-80 lens?
Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to play with this lens myself so can't really share much. Specs look good though ;)
I'm halfway through the first part of the video and I've almost had a heart attack at 1:55...
Lol definitely wasn't our intention^^
Hello! Thanks for your video. What about autofocus in video, is it working ok on 55-200? Or slow? And what’s camera you use for video in your vlogs?
Cheers, I haven't actually shot video with this lens yet, I mainly use it for photography. I shoot video on my sony a7iii 24-70, all my videos on this channel are shot with this camera ;)
@@ClassicPolly ok, thank you. Little bit strange)) Photo on crop, video on full frame))
Works for me 😉
Honestly, after buying an 18mm and 85mm prime, I kind of want the 16-80mm F4 OIS.
Oh really? Why so?
@@ClassicPolly Just for the versatility honestly. Less to carry. On my old Canon 60D it came with an 18-135mm kit lens and it was the best.
Oh fair enough! I love zoom lenses and it’s not because I’m lazy to move my feet but as you said it’s the flexibility aspect that is very appealing!
Nice wall color. Swankaroony.
I'm considering starting a pov series as well, but I'm not confident in my videography skills at all :/
You just need to start, that’s the most difficult step! I’m sure you will smash it!
Thank you very much, I have nothing but good things to say about my Fuji XT-3. It is a very dear companion of mine since January 2019 and I love it ^^
Funny and informative, as always :D
Thank you very much and glad that I was able to deliver ^^
It's a funny video I watched, which is talking about photography but great content. It makes me to think about why I don't buy the kit lens 😅👍
I have 5 lenses but no motivation to get out of bed
Ahaha, I feel you! Happens to all of us 😅
Xt3 wr but 18-55 and 55-200 are not.
I went with two lenses in my camera bag 16-35mm and 70-200mm. I'm not prime guy because too lazy to zoom with feet 😂
Lol!
I don’t like this lens because I haven’t tried it but I’d buy it for someone I loved.... figure that one out. Thanks.
Oh which lens?
The 18 -55 ... I am happy with my 16-55 but I’d get the kit for my girlfriend. I just got her the 55-200 for Christmas. I believe for the most part the more you pay the better the lens.... the 16 2-8 (which I owned) is ok where as replacing it with an amazing 16 1.4 was worth the money. As for the weight , size and investment protection anxiety, yes, these are serious considerations.
More humour... 😄👍 your natural at it.. 😄😄 when you spat your drink out i did the same.. 😄😄👍
Nice to see you back.
