Paraphilias can be common things like sadomasochism or more niche things but what distinguishes them from paraphilic disorders is that the disorder is characterized by feeling that it is unwanted and causing harm to yourself or others. So paraphilias themselves are ok and fine and can be a part of consensual sexual practices but the disorder is what is characterized as harmful.

This itself determines more often towards qveerness-fem side, submission and bottoming; then the often neurodivergence and possible traumas you're likely to live as an "assigned cvck at birth" will direct you towards a very kinky and unusual conception of sex, lots of fetishes, precise arborescences etc... if like me you have acess to it; if like you or most afabs concerned by this thing, autists in marticular that can't mask super well, I think asexuality arrives as either being really cleuless of sexual and libido mechanisms, or as a coping mechanism.
I am asexual, but do have some kinks. Although I can't really place it as I don't remember any kind of experience in arousal before the age of 14, and most of it was purely daydreaming about non-traditional acts that I found attractive. I think my fetish started when I was little I used to play hide and seek with my brothers in my mom’s closet. I know the argument is, "Oh, you watched your father treat animals correctly, so you know how now, and your father watched his father..." etc. But it goes beyond how we treat them. I'm the guy that can get right up on a squirrel before it bolts or have a non-traditionally-social bird approach me undaunted. It just kind of happens, and I can't find a physical trait that is said to cause this, so I believe it's an inherited one. All that to say, I can completely believe that your long hair fetish is genetically inherited.
When you start thinking of behaviours as genetic, you start getting into some really sketchy territory. I think its more likely that you sharing a kink with your grandma is a hilarious coincidence or that there is some kind of cultural paradigm that your family has been brought up in for a while that has caused you to value the same physical traits as sexually attractive.
@@angusmarch1066 Sketchy =/= incorrect. Most behaviours are rooted in genetics, and a lot of fetishes (e.g. liking butts) are common enough cross-culturally to not be a coincidence. Things like butts, breasts, hair, and muscles are secondary sex characteristics, and a hard-wired attraction to good examples of them (e.g. big, perky breasts) makes a kind of sense. My own fetish is abnormal, sure, but there's no reason to believe that it's not just a quirk of my family line. It's not detrimental enough to be eliminated by natural selection, but it's also not advantageous enough to be "standard issue". I'd say that, if anything, it's less likely to be coincidence than it is to be genetics. Fetishes aren't random; they're either innate or learned/conditioned.

What i find funny, is that men liking women's feet used to be completely normal and accepted. Looking back at old movies you see that that was more common. Neurodivergence, synesthesia, very speccific trauma? The pattern seeking stuff in particular is very autistic to me (I'm one without any of those tho, but am obcessed with patterns, wouldn't be surprised some push it as far as eroticizing some stuff.)

I think that's a special determinism that touches amabs who can't perform masculinity, who don't want to, don't understand it exists, or fail at it. This itself determines more often towards qveerness-fem side, submission and bottoming; then the often neurodivergence and possible traumas you're likely to live as an "assigned cvck at birth" will direct you towards a very kinky and unusual conception of sex, lots of fetishes, precise arborescences etc... if like me you have acess to it; if like you or most afabs concerned by this thing, autists in marticular that can't mask super well, I think asexuality arrives as either being really cleuless of sexual and libido mechanisms, or as a coping mechanism.
I am asexual, but do have some kinks. Although I can't really place it as I don't remember any kind of experience in arousal before the age of 14, and most of it was purely daydreaming about non-traditional acts that I found attractive. Like I'll keep my pants on, but there are still ways interests show up differently for me. I'm not sure if that's because I developed autonomic dysfunciton around the age of 14, or if it does have to do with other things in my past. I think my fetish started when I was little I used to play hide and seek with my brothers in my mom’s closet. Things like butts, breasts, hair, and muscles are secondary sex characteristics, and a hard-wired attraction to good examples of them (e.g. big, perky breasts) makes a kind of sense.
My own fetish is abnormal, sure, but there's no reason to believe that it's not just a quirk of my family line. It's not detrimental enough to be eliminated by natural selection, but it's also not advantageous enough to be "standard issue".
I'd say that, if anything, it's less likely to be coincidence than it is to be genetics. Fetishes aren't random; they're either innate or learned/conditioned.

I have _long_ wondered why the pervasive fixation on _feet._ Just speaking from an _evolutionary_ perspective, it makes sense that the average man should be attracted to a woman with breasts, wider hips, and even smoother legs. These each serve an evolutionary benefit to _her_ genes, and so an actual _attraction_ to them serves a benefit to _his_ genes.
And it makes sense that the average man should prefer a woman whose feet are not _deformed,_ but actually being _attracted_ to them? _Fetishizing_ them? Fantasizing about a woman _touching_ his genitalia with her feet? That's _always_ puzzled me.

Yeah that's the point, vanilla sexuality comes from evolutionary determinism, only then heteronormativity is constructed as a civilisation takes over and social norms are created towards what is allowed and forbidden sexually (to simplify, not saying tribes aren't pre-patriarcal, binary and repressive at all, it depends his material surroundings and way of filiaton according to anthropology).
Binary dimorphism is streghtened by social norms and if something is made taboo or hidden, attraction towards this thing will be considered as a deviance. But most kinks are determined via simple and multiple exposition to social events, traumas, pleasurable sensations (mostly for objects and matters), pre-analysis or experience of social norms and domination structures, notably unfitting them or being discriminated (notably from dominance and submission).
Said otherwise, kinks are dependent of brain plasticity, possible epigenetics, they are not hard wired into the source code of the species, if one forms early in childhood, then your brain builds over it; nothing to do with evolution, especially in a first world society in which artificial selection is the most advanced and most stimuli of any kind are much more caused by social determinism in proportion to biological determinism, evolution is only maximizing survival to pass the winter in your nomadic shelter.
Edit: what I said could be misunderstood I realize: It would be classist and colonial bullshit to think women, africans or poors are less kinky than their respective dominants because they are inherently more drawn towards "evolutionary goals", it's that these groups have less leisure time, less access to introspection, to free sexualities etc... they aren't more bestial, more natural and other pseudo-science, whether those beliefs are harnessed by reactionaries or new-agey wokes, it's that they have respectively less access to emencipation from evolutionary determinism because of their places in the social hierarchy.

What i find funny, is that men liking women's feet used to be completely normal and accepted. Looking back at old movies you see that that was more common. I personally feel, from my own experience and from talking to others and just seeing others posts and videos about their fetishes, that a lot of fetishes start off being found during young childhood, and that there is an attraction even in those first experiences in childhood, and for me personally, I feel there is something about it being a part of my innate self, my DNA, a deep part of what makes me, me.

That was also the time I started watching the movie Aliens. Hicks in the movie would be so attractive to me, but only in the gear, he wears armour and a helmet, he is a colonial marine. I found him so attractive, but like I said, only in his gear, without it, I wasn't as attracted to him. Spider-Man too, I was attracted to in the Sam Raimi movies.
I now realize I have a gear fetish, men in gear, motorcycle leather one piece suits, gloves, boots, helmets, and also SWAT gear are my fave, and also my faves are some fantasy gear too, like Robocop and Kamen Rider. I have talked to another gear fetishist too, and he said that he has had his gear fetish from childhood as well. So, I personally feel in myself, that for many people, there is something in our innate sexuality that is attracted to these things. An attraction that is part of what makes us who we are. Something innate and unchosen and lifelong that was with us in the beginning. My fetish as a child was not sexual at the time, I was just fascinated and found the gear very cool looking, but it did become sexual as I started getting older and getting these feelings of sexuality in myself.
My fetish, it feels.. like it is ancient, it feels very primal too, this primality feels like I am connecting to a very deep and profound part of my innate being, my wiring, and I know my fetish will be lifelong. It feels like I am tapping into something deep within me, something in my DNA. I feel like my fetish is a deep part of me, and that I have always had it, I have always been attracted to gear, even as a kid.

The fetishes I find most interesting are the most abstract level of fetish. I can see how sensation fetishes arise, sex is sensation-seeking so the only missing step is the tie-in. Sex-adjacent fetishes, like non-erogenous parts of the body or relatively common trappings of sex, are more than one step distant from a kink but there's at least some room to speculate. But when people find eating couch foam, looking at tessellated pattern tiles, or the like, it's extremely hard to posit any connection between default sexual arousal and the endpoint of the fetish that could have established the link.
with some of those situations, i would guess there's often more at play than simple conditioning. like trauma or mental illness.
Neurodivergence, synesthesia, very speccific trauma? The pattern seeking stuff in particular is very autistic to me (I'm one without any of those tho, but am obcessed with patterns, wouldn't be surprised some push it as far as eroticizing some stuff.)

What about body-horror? Can it be considered a fetish if it’s physically un-obtainable? If it only exists in drawings or animations? Does the element of forcing someone into a new body and therefore a new role make it a Paraphilia instead, even if the “victim” is the person themselves?
