Great content! Nice clear expectations for both lead and follow, and because you present patterns as variations on the base (a whip) it makes it easier to remember more patterns as a lead. Love it.
Brian and Megan, you're Super Teachers, I like your pedagogy and your kindness, so perhaps when in retrait, I want to go in US to learn more directly (haha). For instance I have to learn and practise the international WCS Rally ! Friendly yours, Patrick from Cherbourg / Normandy - France
Awww thanks Patrick. You're welcome to visit us anytime you want here in Louisville Kentucky USA! Keep up the good work and best of luck learning the WCS Rally! -Brian & Megan
I think the X pattern you're talking about in two step is the weave? Correct? Yeah whips exist in 2 step too! They are actually one of the core patterns as you move beyond the basics. You can adjust these whips to 2-step in a lot of cases!
@@WestCoastSwingOnline Yes I have heard it called the "weave" as well. The dance teacher I learned it from called it "this X pattern" lol It allows for continuous natural forward motion. Bubba dancing has a lot of these moves while stopping the flow of the dance race way.
@@DANIELSPEER1978 Yep that's it! It's 'real' name is the weave. There are technically a couple different weaves too. Where are you from Daniel? We're in Louisville KY

Hello, yes it is a basket whip. The whips go from easier to harder level. So I would learn the whip and hustle whip first then the basket whip will be the next pattern to learn 😊

"How is hustle whip different if you start from a left-right hold and the leader picks up the follower's hand around count 2?" It's the same! It's still a hustle whip of sorts and all the footwork is the same. It's just a variation :-)

Thank you from south of France
Wow! South France super fun!
Love these whips while in the two step using the "X" pattern. It obviously changes it up a little.

I now realize I've been leading the decap whip and didn't call it that
Yeah I got the name from a DVD I learned it from back 12 or 15 years ago so I've stuck with the name :-) Glad you like it. It's one of my favorites! B
