Ranking Au5's Monstercat Discography

- Au5 recently had a single released on the label (Awaken) that pushed him to 31 total songs on Monstercat. He's done a variety of genres but he's probably best known for his melodic dubstep. This is one of the rare instances where I don't think a single song of his is bad (lowest score is a 6), and he's got some iconic bangers.

Anyone else used to think deadmau5 & Au5 were pronounced like dead”mow5” and “ow5?” Nope, just me? 💀

Au5 had nickname Au51in (pronounce like Austin ) a while ago. He just made it a bit shorter then
I thought Au5 got his name from deadmau5, like an inspiration or something
His stuff outside of Monstercat are just as spectacular...
I think you should give Awaken a few more listens. I know you said that it should've ended around 5:21 - so right after the last drop ends - but IMO the minute-long outro just adds to the incredible journey that this song is. Admittedly, I didn't like it too much when I first listened to it, and thought that maybe the drops could be a bit heavier, but hey, I must've listened to it now at least 30 times so clearly it has been growing on me more and more.

Awaken is definitely BO-2021 material. Will probably get my vote. Just so much effort put into that beautiful song.
I agree with rivers, I was very doubtful when I first listened to it. Now it’s one of my favorites. The vocals and the drop are spectacular. It’s an amazing journey
Amazing artist, so far he hasn’t released any bad songs on the label. I prefer his house/electro over his dubstep though.

To me, it's hard to rank his discography. I honestly don't think he has a bad song, and that's something I can't say about many artists haha
Aw man Blossom is one of my favorite Au5 songs
I might over-listened to Edens though :)), but that 2nd drop hits me real good and carries the song real good to make me come back once in a while

Great ranking. I get your #1, but it should’ve been flashback imho. However, you say at 2:45 that you don’t know if the moonland theme was fully realized. Listen to return to moonland by Austin. This is THEJourney 2.0 🤤

2. Pavonine (Unexpected ranking for me, but this song is great, 9.8/10)
3. Inside (Grew off me a bit but still amazing, 9.7/10)
4. Always In A Nightmare (More epic than Only In A Dream, 9.6/10)
5. Atlantis (I like this a lot more than most people, 9.5/10)
6. Only In A Dream (The calmer version of Always In A Nightmare, but I replay this less, 9.4/10)
7. Voidwalkers (Back in 2020 when I first discovered Monstercat, 9.2/10)
8. Follow You (Pleasant listen, 9.1/10)
9. Sweet (Holds up surprisingly well, 9/10)
10. Smoke (Also aged pretty well, 9/10)

Blossom in 28th place??? Are you kidding me, this is one of the best song on the entire label.
Dying Star is also way lower than it should be. I agree on your take about Snowblind and Secret Weapon among others, however. And Voidwalkers gets a well deserved third place there. Not the biggest fan of Goodbye tho, I feel like the drop is a little simple.
It would be cool getting a ranking about his songs outside of monstercat, however. So many great tracks: Dragonfly, Mesmerize, Infinite Wings, his remix of Alone and his remix of Ecotone, and so many others.

But not that bad
I dont like eden or songs like these but Voidwalkers or Awaken are definitely my favourite

literally some of his all time best works are off label
The Way To Infinity, Alien Weapon, Remember, Answers, Make You Cry, The Place, easily cement him as one of my favorite musicians of all time (especially The Place and TWTI)
I really think overall Au5 is the best Monstercat artist of all time... he just doesn't miss. I think my favorites are OIAD/AIAN, Eden, Goodbye, Snowblind, and Voidwalkers.

Eden is my fav song of all time but guardians is #3 for the exact reasons you listed. It’s one of the most amazing tracks off of monstercat in my op and it never gets old. Those twinkling arps are the topping on the masterpiece cake that is this song

Austins style of music is honestly impressive
Top 3 for me
3rd Always in a nightmare (9.3/10, grew out but still in fav, this slaps, nostalgic as hell, brought be back since the 1st time listening)
2nd Voidwalkers, (9.5/10, it was near perfect, if the off drop wasnt too long to make the drops more memorable, BUT, it is just pure fun and epic and I still listen to this day, nostalgic too
1st The Journey, (10), this is literally the best song, THE JOURNEY of my life passing by, I have ever listened, like EVER, it just really tries to bring the tears inside you, it really expressing the whole journey of your memories, like it brought me back sooo much, AND literally one of the best song u can ever listening to on a trip, just a pure beauty, in sounds and vocals, the best song ever listened. 6 minutes long? Well i enjoy EVERY spec of it

Au5 really sells himself out when it comes to his mc releases everything he releases outside the label are just flawless i feel like he just plays to the typical trends of mc and what typical mc fans like which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it doesn't really expand his brand outside the label but hey hes a successful artist so all power to him
Non personal releases in general imo, his collab with Slander just sounded so... generic. Compared to the stuff on his channel, melody was borderline acceptable at best, and I kinda didn't like that glitchy lead he used that everyone seems to be using these days. Granted I've never heard Slander, so don't know how much of that was his influence.

Pretty good ranking video here! I actually remembered seeing him in Concert one time about like a little over 2 years ago now (since he's like one of my favorite typical Dubstep artists). He even played a track by Xilent and one by KUURO on the set at that time too. :)
