- For years, I've wanted to get my BMW Z4's exterior up to scratch, and now I'm pleased to say it's looking stunning, also with a wheel respray too!

Be interesting to see how the wheels hold up, generally paint tends to flake off after a while. I got my E60 wheels professionally done which means stripping down, acid dipping, sand blasting, hand sanding, baking, powder coating then baking again.
The temptation to get a Z4 3.0 is forever growing! Awesome video mate

I used a clay bar on my BMW for the first time yesterday.. it amazed me how much ‘contaminant’ was in the clay after finishing. Finishing with a Meguiars qwick detailer really brought out the shine, and the paint felt smooth like glass. Full professional details are expensive, but worth it. I had my Mk 2 Focus RS given a 5 stage detail last year… and the finish on the UG paint was incredible. 💚

Very intersesting video Joel. Amazing how much the car pops now. I've never been much of a fan of black wheels but yours look pretty damn great mate. I think its the bronze tinge which helps show off the detail on them. Its all ready for the summer now. You have inspired me to get mine done asap.

It looks really amazing and the wheel colour I wouldn’t have chosen myself but I would now after seeing it on your wheels. I’ll give the company a look and see what they can do with my car since it’s black metallic and needs a wash, good cut/polish and the wheels refurbed but mine are diamond cut so I don’t know if they can re do them.
Loving the wheel colour. At 14:19 have you removed the 3.0 badge near the indicator.
Thanks, it fell off about a year ago - and has unfortunately left a nasty mark!

It looks great! Not a fan of the wheel colour at all but thats very personal preference. I'm a silver OE wheel guy if it's a black car.
I really need to machine polish my MX-5 but i know it'll be several hours work even on a small car. Haven't had the rotary out in about 5 years so let's hope it works!

14:20 your bumper corner is still hanging lose, put a new bumper clip in it so the bumper is correct in line. why still no antenna?? and the 3.0 emblem is missing, its al in the details ;)

Hey Joel, what is your suggestion to cleaning the roof? I got mine recently and did the whole car newly sprayed and rims sprayed too then did the ceramic coating, now I just got no clue about the roof...
Oops did not watch until end when I posted, what is though the best soap and tools to use etc?

I have basically the same car and I need to get booked in for a professional polish now 😂 I have the same wheels and I like bronze but mv2’s look best in silver in my opinion 👌🏼 looks mint though and good vid

Hello from Massachusetts. I just got an '06 Z4 3.0i, same black as yours. I like the new wheel color, thinking I may do similar. May go black. May paint the roll bar covers as well. Hmm....details, details!
What until you see her at night under some mak dees or tesco carpark led lights when I got round to doing my z4 like you said it seemed like a different colour is your z sapphire black mine always looked slightly dark gray when I polished and waxed it useing maguiars ultimate wax paste but when I had the lower front bumper and wings resprayd I did the full clay + compound + polish and wax the ceramic coating wasent easy available back then so I use a ultimate detailer for extra water beeddin and protection but the difference was amazing it looked better than cars half its age the deep black shine of the BMW'S sapphire black is just beautiful she looks lovely mate the price of the z must be going up now surely
T cut is all you need to sort the paint out, all this detailing malarkey, half of it is bollocks, just get it washed with a good tfr, power wash it, mop it with t cut and put some polish and blackener on the trims. Done,
Suggestion: Paint the roll hoops behind the seat black aswell as the interior trim 👌

She looks proper now mate. Good to see her looking her best and a nice touch on choosing probably the best Z4 colour there is, for the wheels. Chuck some spacers on her.
Definitely think it needs spacers yes. And a little lower too
@@itsjoel I went with 20mm rears and 15mm fronts mate. And I'm on 30mm Eibach lowering springs with no speed hump issues. See u fixed u aeriel 🤔🤔🤔🤔😂😂

Wheels look really good and quite subtle - they look far better than I’d expected.. Time to paint the callipers and replace the spring clips, they look really grotty. For only ~£30-40 and a half days worth of effort it will finish it off nicely. I did mine last summer: it’s a really easy job with the all inc kits you can buy. You can also buy a da polisher quite cheaply to keep on top of the swirls. Also managed to remove a scrape from a mates 911 after someone scuffed it at the supermarket; Amazing bits of kit.
Looks great mate. I really appreciate the time and effort that goes into machined paintwork, having done both my Porsches, which took multiple days. Painting the wheels is sensible as you can get a nicer finish, and a better range of colours. But main thing is tyres can stay on and it’s a quicker process
Going to reregister mine, has been siting in the garage for 3 years with 58.000 klm on the clock, 2004 3.0i manual jet black 18" BMW ellipsoid's. Not a bad wheel color, i have seen a couple with black wheels and they look too dark ,some ideas going through my mind.
Key to doing paint correction is don't wash it unless your going to do it properly.
Jet wash and use a spray foam Lance, grit and dirt cling to buckets.
Don't use the same sponge for the body as the wheels and keep your sponge in a bag so that doesn't get dirts or grit in it.
Don't think a quick wash at a car wash will do it no harm, because you stop counting how many times you do it.
In the end it looks like someone's eaten their dinner off it.
Clay barring I do once a year, fall out from tree sap, moisture and road contaminants attack the paint everyday, don't let the surface dry out in the process and follow body lines horizontal on sides and tops.
Don't polish or decontaminate in direct sunlight and work a panel a time in small to medium size areas.
Check each panel in direct sunlight, and remember your paint isn't 6ft deep take your time don't over work it.
I'm doing the same Joel... Stage 2 detail, de chrome, wheels changing colour, wrapping spoiler and ceramic coating at Stevenage... Can't wait for the end results....
