I don’t suppose you can tell me where hdmi out is? (My setup is in top plug but no clue if it’s the correct one) I already set everything up… is it just one hdmi port in the soundbar? Tv won’t find the soundbar though despite plugged in arc.
I've been looking to get a LG soundbar but the reviews of the LG S95QR have been less than stellar, I'm tempted to get this one because I'm limited to room and I like the idea of it bouncing the sound behind me as it acts as rear surrounds.

Thats tough, I think it just depends on what tv you have. The SC9 sound is tuned by meridian so it sounds alot better than you would expect for the size.

I'm in doubt between the LG SC9 or the JBL BAR 1000 to use with my LG C4 77", I like the JBL because it has portable and wireless rear speakers to create a surround effect.

Depends, I thin the jbl 500 will be louder but not by much, this is going to sound more realistic and the height on this will be alot better! This is a great option, Bluetooth is great for music from your phone but I would always recommend a hardwired cable to the TV like an optical or an HDMI-ARC. There is usually issues with delay if you don't.
Would this sc9s or the Sonos beam 2 be more compatible for a lg b4 tv? Main purpose is Netflix shows and no gaming, very little music playing only occasionally when we have hangouts

So how is the wall mount? Does it make the soundbar protrude more? If it sits flush with the wall then it would mean the up firing speakers would throw sound direct under my tv

depends on if you plan on mounting it on the wall or putting it under the tv on an entertainment center. If mounting go with the GX soundbar, if not go with this!
Just got this soundbar to go with my C3 tv. Was going to keep my 10yr old soundbar, but I’m glad I didn’t. I use it with the WOW orchestra and it adds another dimension to the sound. I have a wall behind where I sit, is it worth getting the rear speakers to enhance the surround sound? I’m in the uk and there aren’t many places that sell them surprisingly.

Thank you for the feedback! I appreciate the feedback as I am a 1 man team as of now. So It depends on the space in front of the tv base and the height of your stand. If your looking down on your tv it shouldn't be in your way, if you look up then it will. You could put it on a universal stand. SC9S sound bar doesn't work with SPK8 rear speaker kit as the kit is 2020 model and the sound bar is 2023, also SPK8 works only with sound bar that have Y in the model name. i have not found SPQ8 anywhere in India yet
Hi Justin, nice review, thanks for posting! I am one with the 'wonky ceiling' (geodesic dome) that you mention 😅. Our OLED77C2 is on a short console up against one side of 42 ft diameter dome. The sound from the upward firing speakers will hit concave surface, partially reflect to couch 10' away, then waveguide to adjacent side of dome (downstairs from this balcony). Think this sound bar might be the best bet?
Yeah I think it will sound good, the best sounding speakers for your situation would be a hardwired system with tower speakers and rear speakers but then that makes it a lot more complicated and expensive.
don't get the bose... They have really dropped quality and increased price because they are a "name brand". We used to sell them but not anymore, after all of the issues customers were complaining about.

Hi, i have a 55" LG OLED Posé TV (it's a model that has an integrated soundbar). Lately i only use it to listen to Rap music on UA-cam in AI Sound Pro mode (Virtual 7.1.2 Up - Mix) and with Bass Boost on. To be honest, i haven't found the sound i've been hearing to be bad at all (i always turn it up to 25 volume when i go to listen to this type of music, and in case it goes without saying, i have the TV located in a 3x3+ space). However, i feel like i want more power in the bass, so; what would you recommend? I don't want to spend more than 600.00 USD.

Very similar sounds, I would say it comes more down to your future plans. With sonos you can build on later, so if you like to entertain and have people over, you could add a music speaker and use both the soundbar and music speaker for muisic or the big game. If you dont entertain much the SC9 is a more cinematic soundbar.
I've never owned a soundbar. I have the LG C3. Is the subwoofer really loud for apartment living? Meaning, will i get the cops called? Or is it not that loud?
well if you want to use it mostly for tv and some music this soundbar, the model you mentioned is a speaker and is not built for tvs, its used more for stereo music.
It depends on what tv you have, and are you mounting it or putting it on a entertainment center. This is probably the best quality, sp8 is the best deal, and the GX is the best looking!
i’ve just ordered an LG C3 48” + LG SC9S soundbar . Waited end of this month to be installed . The only downside is soundbar came with the bracket only for minimum 55inch C3 OLED above . 48 inch will not compatible to mount together with the TV . Guess i’ve only can put in to the cabinet table while the tv mount directly to the wall .
Just a quick question. You mention in this review that one can buy extra speakers for the back. Other places claim one can't add extra speakers to this soundbar. This gets confusing :)
Would you recommend this or the S80QY? I plan to get Rears for both of them. However, RTINGs has put the SC9S up in its neutral sound profile over the S80QY - but the S80QY has been rated to have better atmos. Currently the S80 is $399, and this is $549… even the S90 is cheaper for $500… but it’s too wide for my 42 inch C2
both a very similar sound. Depends more on the tv you have. Samsung go with the 700, lg go with the sc9. If your tv is a different brand than it comes more down to how they look in my opinion.
Hey man! I can get a Q600b for 300 or a Q700b for 400 is there a significant difference between the two? Ive also looked at the Q800B but that is 800 so double the price of the q700b
So iam from India....So found SP8YA for 260 dollars and SC9S from 370 dollars......I previously had q800a it sounded great but just after an year the hdmi port stopped working coz of board issue and through optical cable I can adjust the volume only in 1st 2 mins after that I canbot change it....if I switch off soundbar and start again it wont work for another 10 mins...
@WaltsTV the funny part is... I was watching the video at 1.25x speed at the time LOL, so that might explain why Shazam didn't recognize the tune. Sadly I still can't find it lol I got two different results and they don't match it exactly. -_-

I have Lg G2 and pair with soundbar samsung hw-q800b and it sound amazing. No problem with conecctions. Streaming music from iphone is instant. I was looking for lg soundbar to pair with lg tv. I was interest in the LG S90QY after listening to it at Best Buy. How does the SC9 compare to that model? Also, I bought the LG S75QR but returned it. Did not like it; low volume and bad vocals at low to mid volume; the rear speakers not very good. And I'm guessing those are the same ones you mentioned were the option add on for the SC9, yes?

if you have a wall right behind you you can get away without them, if you dont have a wall behind your couch then you would greatly benefit from them!

The tv shouldn't effect it that much.
I had the same problem. I got the bar installed just above the TV and it made it sound little better. I have 55inch Sony TV.

Yes, I only mention that because its more of a living room soundbar and alot of people use the 48" and 42" for gaming monitors!

hmmm, well TV speakers are very low in general. If you have a soundbar I would imagine the soundbar is going to take most of the stress of the audio.

no the cops wont get called lol! But you can always adjust the volume of the subwoofer with the remote or on the lg app!

well if you want to use it mostly for tv and some music this soundbar, the model you mentioned is a speaker and is not built for tvs, its used more for stereo music.

It depends on what tv you have, and are you mounting it or putting it on a entertainment center. This is probably the best quality, sp8 is the best deal, and the GX is the best looking!

i’ve just ordered an LG C3 48” + LG SC9S soundbar . Waited end of this month to be installed . The only downside is soundbar came with the bracket only for minimum 55inch C3 OLED above . 48 inch will not compatible to mount together with the TV . Guess i’ve only can put in to the cabinet table while the tv mount directly to the wall .

Tv mounting i use ( Sanus VLT6 ) which is a good quality of it

I would say that either is fine, I would worry more about how far you are from your tv and if your past 12-15 feet I would go with the bigger size.
Any setting that you can recommend to make the music sound better on this? Literally the subwoofer effect is on existant
where do you have the subwoofer placed? is it on carpet or behind a couch, or both? Is it in a big or small room. There could be alot of factors.
Lg soundbar app , I have the sc9s and was disappointed with the sound until I messed with the app EQ and dialed in extra bass , now sounds awesome

However, RTINGs has put the SC9S up in its neutral sound profile over the S80QY - but the S80QY has been rated to have better atmos. Currently the S80 is $399, and this is $549… even the S90 is cheaper for $500… but it’s too wide for my 42 inch C2
Yeah I mean for looks this will fit best with the 42, they might be right about the sound but it also depends on what your room acoustics are.

both a very similar sound. Depends more on the tv you have. Samsung go with the 700, lg go with the sc9. If your tv is a different brand than it comes more down to how they look in my opinion.

Size, If you have the room for an 83" tv you probably need a bigger and better sound bar like the LG SP9YA. This is still going to sound great.

Hey man! I can get a Q600b for 300 or a Q700b for 400 is there a significant difference between the two? Ive also looked at the Q800B but that is 800 so double the price of the q700b
Both are nice, For 100$ i would say stick with the Q600B, 800B is really where the difference is.
What settings you using like bass and Treble and soundmodes
I haven't played around too much with it. I just recommend using the sound modes for whatever your listening or watching.
I am using it for last 5/6 days. I find standard setting is sound mode is the best. Subwoofer setting to full, bass setting to full and treble to 3.

So iam from India....So found SP8YA for 260 dollars and SC9S from 370 dollars......I previously had q800a it sounded great but just after an year the hdmi port stopped working coz of board issue and through optical cable I can adjust the volume only in 1st 2 mins after that I canbot change it....if I switch off soundbar and start again it wont work for another 10 mins...

It works. But the "wow" bracket (fittting) can't be done and "wow " effect is not available.
I have Lg G2 and pair with soundbar samsung hw-q800b and it sound amazing. No problem with conecctions. Streaming music from iphone is instant. I was looking for lg soundbar to pair with lg tv. But I think the samsung soundbar is better than Lg’s. Sound and design quality.

I think they both have their ups and downs, I like this design better but I like the options you get with the samsung.

Also, I bought the LG S75QR but returned it. Did not like it; low volume and bad vocals at low to mid volume; the rear speakers not very good. And I'm guessing those are the same ones you mentioned were the option add on for the SC9, yes?
