Lechi Kurbanov is a Chechan Kyokushin karateka and kickboxer.
He finished in 5th position in the 8th World Tournament (IKO 1) 2003.
He also famous as a Kyokushin KO artist, due to his unpredictable, powerful strikes.
His special move is jodan mawashi tobi geri (round high jump kick) which often makes his opponent fall down.

kurbanov's explosive strength is amazing every time I watch him....
I miss this type of training. Love the focus and discipline.
Tough Kyokushin is gone.
No fighting style will ever be like kyokushin.
No there is Ashihara and Enshin Karate which is almost like kyokushin

I've been in Kyokushin a while and it is brutal but I keep feeling it is not a true test of fighting skill since doing MMA. For example in MMA you are much more wary about wading in with kicks as you might get a knock - out punch to the head so the dynamic is very different.
I do boxing and kyokushin and it works perfectly for me it is better than muay thai+ boxing because muay thai has a square stance and no power in punches whislt kyokushin has a more bladed stance like a boxer

Chechenians used to train martial arts, and russians teach them perfectly! Kurbanov in ?kyokushin karate is real killer, but in kickbox ? iam in doubt!

I want to know How come Kyokushin Karate is Popular in Russia ?
There are Many Famous Kyokushin ( Foreigners ) are Russian . Why ?
Because in Karata Kyokushin source of the power goes from strong character and will of survival. In Russia many people lives in tough conditions, very often have to struggle witch difficoulties which require alfa-male attitude (including fighting). That is why there is lots of well prepared potential Karate Kyokushin(not only) competitors, as they only have to be taught of disciplines and techniques, the heart of fighter is already there since little child. By the way, that seminary took place in Poland, where also is a lot good Kyokushin fighters.
