I have the compact version and I like it. I also bought the extra set of trays to have full smoker/steamer setup. The bark wasn’t good, but ribs came out delicious. Only thing to keep in mind is that food drippings could put out your wood chips, so plan placement accordingly. Also has a setting and trays to hold food warm. I think it was a good buy, even for a house, not apartment. Side note: both the top and bottom inside layers can be removed and cleaned in the sink.

Thanks for showing that off. It looks like a good option for those that live in multiple residence housing complexes where charcoal or gas grills are not permitted.

Thank you for reviewing the Lumin! I got mine today for Father’s Day. Happy grilling to all the dads out there! And moms too if your kid doesn’t have a dad 👍🏼

Great review Tom as this was through in the parts etc. For the past 10 years , I have been using an electric Q 2400, which was $250 way back! Has top and bottom aluminum liners, porcelain cast iron grates, and the grate I gently lift to remove the bottom aluminum pan to clean. Cooks very similar to the Lumin. I have a Weber veggie basket and a smoke box for it as well. The cost of the Lumin makes me say not for now. Advantage Q is the domed lid allow for a chicken or roast.

Tom, you are correct that it is slower to heat than a gas grill. But 600 degrees is 600 degrees no matter what the heat source.

That's beautiful Tom. It borrows some design cues from the old Samsonite luggage.

Perfect for the apartment dweller and for those who don't what to bother with fuel acquisition and storage. And for the environmentalists, there is no CO2 emissions.
For those that care, the required power is 1560 watts, 13 amps.

Thanks Tom for the video. I have the Compact version which is sufficient for the Mrs. and myself. It won't replace my Weber 22" or Smokey Joe, but sometimes when I don't wish to deal with charcoal, it's perfect. Love your videos.

I have a Weber charcoal kettle, propane, and an electric Q series.. once you figure out the electric grills the food is equally as good as propane. Not as good as charcoal but if you’re considering propane or electric go electric.. anyone who tells you propane is so amazing does not own a charcoal grill.

Looks like a decent grill, a bit pricy but weber stuff does last a while. But the real question is: how well does it smoke? Some low and slow ribs or pork butt would be the ultimate test if you ask me!

Thanks for the video Tom. It's a bit expensive but I'd have one if I lived where charcoal or gas isn't safe or permitted. I like the insulated top. The steam insert is perfect for indirect.

0:51 I lived in a town house style Apartment with a deck that had a no gas or charcoal grill rule, everyone had Traeger's, like literally every unit seemed to have one, I guess the apartment management didn't understand how a pellet smoker worked and thought they where electric because they plugged in. I just ignored the rule and had a Akron Jr. since everyone else was burning pellets.

we can't have pellets where I live...so I use a Weber wood chip pan when grilling on my Weber electric Q and it works great!

Won’t trade in my Weber kettle or RT 380x for one, but for someone in an apartment, it’s a good option since fire departments don’t allow flame grill in DC area.

The style, double walls, porceline coating and the Weber name are what set it apart and set the price.
