I live neat a Secomak GP12, it's in Ravenstruther and part of the Carstairs High Security Mental Hospital warning systems along with six CS8's and one GP8
To think that GP12 was originally just 528m from the Mundesley flood siren... the residents must've had a heart attack when the lifeboat got called out! Must've been rather confusing.
When you say Mundesley flood siren (bearing in mind Mundesley isn't prone to flooding as it's on cliffs) are you referring to the siren on the fire training tower next to the school?
@@ChrisRichmond Yes - I think I did (possibly erroneously) assume that fire station siren was part of the Norfolk flood network, and overlooked its clifftop position. (somehow missed this at the time, oops!)
It's an easy thing to assume- I was intrigued when I spotted it, but Mundesley was never on the Norfolk flood siren network. It's still in my hands, although I'm doubtful I'll ever run it at full chat, as I had to "bodge" some of the rotor housing bolt holes that had corroded away (aluminium housing on a steel motor flange) with large washers and spacers. 😬
@@ChrisRichmond Doesn't sound so good - but it's not like the other GP12s out there are faring any better! I've got a couple of three phase models in the collection now, both a Secomak GP6 and a to-be-collected Carter, but I don't have the facilities to power them up (and in the case of the Carter, neither did the previous owner) so I am in the same boat of not being able to run them but for very different reasons.
Oh, I can't run them simply because I don't have 3 phase and don't wish to upset my neighbours! 🤣 My collection has dwindled a bit, but I can't part with any more for the time being.
@@al66class59 and some balls... Judging by the vibration and the fact that one rotor housing is supported by large washers where previous aluminium corrosion ate out large holes around the fixing bolts! :-D
Syren is a perfectly legitimate spelling. It's a lesser used British spelling, but an official one nonetheless. Look at older Gent or early Secomak sirens, and they will all be described as 'Syrens'.

Well we know now that there’s two GP8’s 🎉
Wow that one is big.
Yep. And twice as heavy as the Castle Castings ones. It weighs 185kg!
Looks and sound impressive.
Love the intro 😍

It needs to go longer
All you need is a step up transformer and a phase converter to run it at full power
The right phase converter will do the job. No need for a transformer that way.

(We still need it though!)
Is that dog a Springer Spaniel
She was indeed.
Departed this life back in May this year, bless her. Reached the grand old age of 14-and-a-bit.
to say it has 2 turbines its not loud
This is not on full power! It requires 415v 3 phase to run at 2850-2880 RPM
These things are insanely loud at full power
And why not to test it with full mains power?
Full mains power? These things run on 415V three phase!
@@ChrisRichmond ...That’s a lot of power
Poor Springer.
