What do you think of this bike? Good looking, a bit heavier at 25+KG... All this was filmed on GoPro Hero 7 Black, quite impressed with the image quality.
The bike looks nice, but how long is too long? I am a fan of the Bosch. They have an outstanding customer service, and they are super easy to deal with, but I cannot stand their use of small chainring. I think the game changer will be the new CX Gen 4 motor - really looking forward to seeing this. The thing that worries me is user serviceability. I’ve seen a fair few worn bearings in the “BB” area, so what chance do we have when the 2 year warranty runs out and we’re stuck having to send it back with potentially having to play the full price to fix it (plus the P&P for it being sent to Bosch in Germany). I’m interested in finding out how much they are to fix when the warranty runs out. OR, am I just worrying for nothing? 🤷🏻♂️ Also, the SRAM 8 SPD gearing drives me nuts! I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the standard Eagle GX cassette. Plus, the price of the SRAM EX drivetrain is astronomical (£400 for the cassette alone!) 😣
Really nice looking bike. Good to see the Bosch motor still being used. But like you say I think they need to update the display, possibly simplify it. Good review.
I've heard a few example of carbon bars breaking on more DH oriented bikes from folks first hand who have had experiences of them. Never happened to me but I've always though an aluminium bar is better suited to DH, bend instead of break. But that could just be my naivety. What do you think? I'll let you know regarding EX1 :-)
@@RobRidesEMTB There ist ja big test of 21 handle bars from 2019 in the german "bike" magazine: www.bike-magazin.de/magazin/heft_info.html?Rand_Heft_Widget&Heft_Info_Titelklick&Verweise They were tested at a professional laboratory with the standard ISO 4210. In conclusion there are black sheeps on aluminium bars and carbon bars. For E-Bikes they recommended bars that last 250 000 load-cycles, that is the maximum and above DH/Enduro of normal bikes. If you want I send you an email with a screenshot if you don't want to try understanding german.
@@RobRidesEMTB You're welcome. I shortlist the best ones. They tested every bar three times, always used a new one for every test. Hi Rob, always a pleasure to watch your vids. It's really something that you can do this as your full time job. I have one question, maybe asked before : how do you get access to these bikes ? Is it a rental for a couple of weeks ? Something else ? Thanks and keep on the good work.
Hey Pierre, thanks for your comments. I do feel very lucky to be able to do this. Mostly the manufacturers are sending me the bikes direct which is awesome 👍
Does everything feel slow and sluggish after the flyon motor test Rob? I've never heard you so blown away! Nice bike this one though, awesome components, but prefer the Levo looks wise. Took out a Kona CTRL 2019 for a demo ride at the weekend Rob, have you checked this model out yet? Nice bike!
I really wish I could buy that bike, but I used more than a year to save money for my levo which I bought in a store in Norway and they let me have it for two thirds of the actual price, anyways I don't dare to do all these stunts and stuff I'm way too scared to ruin the bike and I wonder if there is any parts that could protect the derailleur, i been thinking of taking something actually meant to protect the disc's on Mc, wish i had a 3d printer that prints carbon Fibre anyways I guess a wheel with internal gears or a gear box in the motor housing or some alternative,,, i meet a guy who ruined three back triangles, my first day out with the new bike i didnt ask how but when looking at my bike and how the derailer is attached with kind of like hangers on both sides of the frame bolted together with thick screws which is treaded right in the frame. I'm even worried about the bike falling on that side. I'm not good at bicycle stuff but I can't see how this is fit for it's purpose,, did anybody here break their rear triangle because of the derailer getting hooked up or crash into something?
At last, a manufacturer who puts the access to the battery at the top not under the front where all the crap gathers when you ride in he mud! Cube failed and as for specialized wtf were they thinking!
These reviews are getting to the point of redundancy. Listing components and saying how "premium" and "nice" it all is - absolutely useless. Literally in the first 20 km of riding your impressions of a bike and how it compares/contrasts to other bikes are 80% of where they're gonna be anyway. What are you going to achieve in 200 km? Tell people some more on how super strong the wheels are and that nothing has fallen off the bike? Ride the bike, make a succinct and to-the-point review and get on with it. This "production value" videos are getting horrific.
Sirius CFD this is not a review. It’s a first look at the bike, walk around, look at the spec / components etc. For me 20km of riding is no way near enough to fully understand the bike. I do 2 videos, a first look then a review after riding it in many conditions on different terrain. Then you can really understand where the bike excels and what the weak points are.
...it's a $14000cdn eBike? Maybe one time, could you do a review on an "entry level or midgrade level" eBikes instead of always doing their "top of the line" eBikes? Unless that's the only reviews you do?? Sure, the company would love to sell nothing but their best bike, but I bet more would like to learn about eBikes they can actually afford instead of a bike they could only dream of getting. It was the same issue when you did the "top of the line" NORCO Sight VLT with the E8000 motor, but NOTHING about the 2019 E7000 motor that's being offered on the entry level bike this year. I'm sure if I reviewed bikes, I'd want to highest end bike every time but imo only helps you, not the viewer. Just my 2 cents..btw: I haven't had coffee yet.
For sure man good feedback. By the way, in my Top 5 ebikes of 2019 I did feature the great value Vitus at £3799 and I also am about to release a review of the Radon Swoop 9.0 £3500 so am trying my best to feature as many bikes as possible. I've never tested the Norco Sight VLT though maybe that was another reviewer you saw? All helpful feedback though, thanks for your comments. I'm gonna grab a coffee now too :-)

Bike looks good & premium! 😃 I'm exited, just ordered the Ghost hybride Slamr x 3.7🤗

Such a good looking bike

Wooooow
Damn, that top tube looks a mile long. Be curious how comfortable it is for everyday riding vs downhill.
I’m especially interested in your opinion about the SRAM EX1.
And what are your doubts about the carbon handlebar?

Rob Rides EMTB ....I have been riding carbon bars the last 6..7 hears and never had problems .... my weight is 71 kg.

Andy CR-Z that’s interesting Andy thanks. Any particular bars they recommend / advise to avoid?

Wauw, that price is bonkers! Especially with this quality welds....

@@RobRidesEMTB That''s amazing. Keep on the good reviews with these beautiful bikes then.
Price insane. Not overly keen on the Bosch. Great fun though. Had a demo on it.
Nice Bike

My Bosch motor went back to Bosch for repair (error500) .....came back oh so quiet , can't believe how quiet it is now
Yeah they've definitely done something. This is very very quiet.
Are the bolts on the down tube for mounting a mudguard, rather than a bottle cage?
I think you’re correct 👍
great looking bike and spec to die for. How you getting on with the vitus e-sommett review Rob?
Still early days yet, but feels superb. I really like it.
😍 would love one. Not keen on the price though..
how fast is it in mile/hour?
how much money ?
if i had that amount of money around for a bike..i'd be looking at the FLYON
We're ALL looking at the Flyon... I'm just not sure I can hold out waiting for one.
5:25 clunk !!

Agree about the Bosch display, it is really dated and way to big for what it does.
Hopefully we'll see a new one soon :-)
Some ugly welds on that bad boy. Nice looking though.
Nice bike but the trance SX is way better value for money
I loved the specs on this bike then realised it had a Bosch motor. Pass.

Not for me.
Could by a next level flyon for that price.
Most interesting Mondraker in my opinion: www.mondraker.com/es/en/2019-crusher-r-
...Nice bike for sure, but at that price, not for me....
