Once again you’re doing a great job. Don’t be to hard on yourself it’s dyi your not a professional and it’s a storage unit lol. But it still looks amazing for that. Also was so great to see you Visit with Tom and see the land in person. Hope to see your vlogs take you down there to camp and ride your e-bikes on the land and have fun. !!! Cheers mate. 🎉
Thanks mate! I think considering my skills its been an alright turn around, but wouldve loved for it to be picture perfect xD Hopefully will go down properly sometime in the future!
Mate, tape and jointing is standard on every job ive ever worked on (£200mil + jobs) a little tip is to get tapered edged boards which are designed for tape and jointing and buy a 5litre tub of t&j compound. We normally give it 3 coats to get the best finish but thats only if you have tapered edge boards. Looks good though
If your not plastering and its a storage room, is there much point in painting it at the moment? Its a for purpose no thrills room right? Might as well save the money on paint and leave it as it is. I know you can plaster over painted plasterboard, but if your not worried about it looking pretty, id just put a skirting board up and fill the room tbf
@@the_loveable_fat_man9948 I totally hear what you’re saying but every fibre of my stubborn ass wants to bookend this project and have it painted 🤣 it’s the final step to take & I want it to feel fresh when you walk into it despite the fact it’s storage, also.. there are upcoming uses for it which will warrant painting :)
@@OrionWhittle thats fair mate, its looking good’ defo worth the skirting board like you said, maybe just as a potential option, whilst you still have markers on the plasterboard, if your planning to screw the racking on the wall, is it worth potentially using some tape on the floor to indicate where the wooden frame behind the plasterboard is so you can screw it into the frame rather then it be into the insulation if you misjudge it?
Love the vlog. Love the commitment too. Seeing you up at toms yesterday made me smile. Hopefully you Jess benji and new baby get up to have some fun up there soon 🥰🥰🥰
So I'm a Painting Business Leader in MN, USA. When we spray we usually back roll as well. Spraying can be fun and usually what we would do in a new construction (similar to this room) job site. But if it's just one room, you should be able to brush and roll everything within 4 hours (two coats). Not sure what paint brands you have available over there, but we use Sherwin Williams "Duration" on 90% of our projects (after a primer coat of course). You should ask Tom's uncle Tony how he would go about it :) He does great work as well!
Thanks for the feedback! I’ll be rolling primer first then spraying a coat after which will become more apart as to why in the vlog! More so it’ll be cool to try something new as I’ve never used one, thanks! :)
Orion its a storage place paint it and leave it dont spend eny more money on it .i just want to thank you for your hard work with getting toms vlod up on monday you are the man
I 100% agree with you but my stubborn ass wants to bookend this project so I can put it to rest. I’ve already got alot of the stuff already for the painting and there’s another reason you’ll see in an upcoming vlog! Thanks :)
you've tried everything, in my opinion you should have used the opportunity to try plastering yourself, I think you made more work for yourself scrimming then filling, but hey you are doing it and thats the main thing as long as it works, love the content as always
I definitely wanted to do that, but I just simply couldn’t afford to give it ago. It may be something o revisit in the future when things settle down post pregnancy! Thanks :)
All is well thanks! It's future proofing it for whoever chooses to use it after we have, whether thats for storage or even an outer house/room! When we were looking at paying for a storage room of a similar cost, the amount we'd pay for it eclipsed this project so we opted for this!
You come across so much more confident on your own channel (I've seen you on others vlogs) Keep it up man! You're smashing it.
Thanks, appreciate it :)

Yeah I think I learnt that from this project! Next time I’ll look into that rather than buying 5 of the small polyfil tubs, thanks for the advice!
wait what, there's non-tapered plasterwall out there? :O
@@2aprillyeah square edged and tapered edge. Looks like orion used square edged which isnt ideal for T&J
Roll-on filler has been a massive time saver for me, might be worth checking out if you need to do another round of filling! Great vlog mate 👍👍
Something I’ll definitely look into! Sounds much easier that what I’ve done, thanks!
Well done in vlogging it was lovely to see you at toms place you are looking really well hope jess and Benjamin are well love watching youre vlogs 👍
Thank you, glad you’re enjoying them!
Ooof. This is a lot of work! But you're learning so much, and learning better ways with everything you try. 👍
It’s exhausting! I’m looking forward to it being basically finished so I can move on from it 🤣 loved the process though, learnt so much!

@OrionWhittle awesome! Really love these Vlogs man. You've been doing a fantastic job, not only with the work, but also capturing the footage:)
@@justincowles thanks! Just noticed my comment was meant to say “apparent in the next vlog” not apart xD appreciate you watching!
Loving the vlogs Orion! Thank you for the content ❤
Thank you for watching!
mesh tape is for it to make the joint stronger.
just like rebar does inside concrete, this is just a smaller scale
Oh really! Love the comment, thanks I genuinely had no clue xD
Vlogs are class mate
Thank you!
Thanks!
The only advice I can give is keep learning.
We keep er goin

Filling in all the holes does not look like a fun job to do 🤣. But ones the paint is on it’ll look really good, hopefully the spay painting goes well
Honestly the filling hurt my thumb & the sanding was so exhausting xD
Im surprised you had enough filler because i went through like 4 of those tubs for 1 bedroom 😂
Haha yeah defo used a lot!
Hi buddy

Hope all is good! Why are you putting so much time and money into a storage room? Do you have future plans for it? 🙂

@@OrionWhittle Sounds look a good idea! I suppose it’s good practice too for any future projects you may have! 🙂
I'm dangerously early lol
