SUPER HYPED FOR ARCHON QUEST AHHHHHHHHHH
From this animated short I suddenly realized how heavy the psychological pressure Lumine was bearing.
I mean, Aether saw Lumine kinda at the beginning of his journey, really got to talk to her, exchange thoughts, and found tracks of her along the journey.
But for Lumine, she had non of that, she really was wondering in the mist with memories overflowing out of her heart yet had no signs of her brother at all, plus the great emotional damage from the cataclysm.
Plus Dain doesn't seem to be a cheerful companion like Paimon frfr.
the 2 different perspectives are really interesting to dive into. i guess this answers the question "what would happen if Paimon didn't exist"

I don't think you'll be cheerful if your origin story is you not being able to protect your homeland.

This animation really showed how lonely Lumine was, I can see why she fell into the abyss princess role.
seeing the difference between how close Paimon and Aether are, and how distant Lumine and Dain were is horrible.
Paimon this whole time has been a pillar of brightness for Aether keeping him positive, while Dain didn't seem to be capable of the same thing for Lumine so she ended up broken.
I imagine the difference between Lumine and Aether's journey and the answer they came to will have alot to do with the companion that they journeyed with.
yeah dainslef was the worst companion that lumine could have, and paimon is the best companion aether can have.
where dain and lumine where complete strangers too eachother, paimon and aether are friends.
this makes an massive impact if your alone on such an journey where nowone is that you can connect with nowone too talk too nowone you can relly on of course you will change your personality on the way if you want it or not, you will brake down, and turn 180° on your character you had before. because you have no choice nothing that will stop you nothing you can care about, so you search for something you can care about you search for an goal you can follow.

There's a different kind of pain with the other one. You know she's there, but it turns out (for a lack of a better term) she doesn't care about you, she has other priorities. A case of "so close, yet so far". Maybe at the journey's end we will understand why Lumine is acting so distant.
@@hikari9262 you see it in the short why she acts soo distant, her journey was not fun, she was lonley, no smiling no laughing for her ever, and she never had someone she comes close with, dainslef is so distant too her that they had no conection at all, they are just two strangers walking the same path nothing more.
where aether has paimon, he can laugh have fun and can smile, while lumine had no reason too.
she was broken down in the end, the lumine aether has known did not exist anymore, smiling lovingly laughing one is gone. if forever or not i can`t say. but it will be a really hard time too get her back even if she joins us she is not the same anymore. she is an broken character. dainslef was the worst companion she could have while paimon is the best companion aether can have.
The title of the animated short "The Road Not Taken" is a reference to a poem by the same name written by Robert Frost.
The poem is about a traveller who is walking a path that was diverging into two and they are at a dilemma at which path to choose.
During the We will be reunited quest, the sibling was confident that we will be siding with them instead of Dainsleif by the end. On top of that Dainsleif was kinda menacing in this trailer wasn't He? Like telling (probably) to Lumine that He is going to have his vengeance. (Also keep in mind that Dainsleif said we will be eventually fight him...)
So is it possible that this is the quest where the traveller seriously starts thinking about siding with His sibling? Just like the traveller in the poem having a dilemma.
For me Dainsleif both in the trailer and this aniamted short was menacing. Like at the end of the short when he touches her like "we need to keep going" or something along these lines "that combined with his dark outfit and her newly found black cape as if Dain was the one to lead her on. He probs did something to earn the anger of the siblings and ruin their freindship
@@lop90ful1 Dain can't really be trusted from what I learn. No one in Teyvat is really trust worthy. I remember in one of the quests with Dain, he said he wanted to fight us, after we completed our goal, but my 1 big question is. How powerful is he really or what could he be hiding to want to fight us, because I'd suspect the traveler to be at god level at the end.
@@IMtiredalI think he just uses both siblings and "Lumine" found out about that back then. From his perspective we just another "throne" who will initiate celectial war which will lead to a another catastrophy. I mean as a keeper it is better to remove all outsiders from Teywat.
The first time we met him he asks us 3 questions to know are we also will betray him as our sibling eventually.
I don't know if I am thinking too hard, but I realized Aether''s light (our time) starts with Mondstadt (green), Liyue (gold), etc. and Lumine's light is white since the beginning. Could it be that her story is that she already had full power, didn't need help from the Archons and that's why her path differs from ours (although we share similar moments like a mirror) ? Our sotry is more the power of friendship is supreme. Also the sunrise for Lumine and sunset for Aether might mean that Lumine was there at the beginning of the loop and we are at the end of it ?

You know this game is special when we can tell where the characters are and the places or the cities they are in, just by looking at their background. Also the emotional intensity going higher and higher as we progress through genshin story.
Also the furnitures, aesthetic, vegetation, animals, people and their clothings, are all unique for each nation in teyvat that you can tell which nation they are in. Also the terrain and geography are also iconic with special features or monuments that they are all memorable and easy to recognize. Damn the world of genshin is well made.
has anyone noticed how aether actually placed the inteyvat flower in lumines hair? like that means traveler really did go to khaenriah before, either brief or long before they got captured by the heavenly principles. traveler definitely has some lost memories.
I believe during chasm quest we knew that aether put that flower in lumine’s hair when we found the inteyvat flower in hilichurl camp in chasm. If you play as aether, I think the line was the flower my sister wear in her hair, but if you play as lumine, the line was the flower my brother put in my hair.
mhm, but now we got confirmation lumine was actually awake with aether when the flower was put in instead of some theories suggesting he put that on her in her sleep
yeah I think there's a high possibility that they were together at some point before or during the cataclysm... at the very beginning of the game Lumine already has the flower when we we're trying to get out of Teyvat... it's safe to assume Aether gave her the flower before that scene... when though we can't be so sure, was it before the cataclysm? when they first arrive? Did they explore a little bit together before everything went a downward spiral?

@@MinCaliThey were summoned by Khaenrian mages. They didnt choose to come in Teywat on their own will.
Which means for some time they lived in Khaenria. Even Inteywat grow only there
Travveler also said in one of the Dain's quests he has memories about Khaenria but never explain that
@@ProkerKusaka right? so they did came to Teyvat or more like in Khaenria at the same time. but somehow Lumine is the only one present during the cataclysm? because as far as I can remember almost all videos showing some sneak peaks of what happened during the cataclysm only shows Lumine in it...
This actually proves that Lumine never lost her powers while Aether did, cuz her clothes still has the white light even on the beginning
In 2:08 of the short we see what appears to be flash backs in what's clearly teyvat so its leaning towards something I've believed for a long time that is
The twins have arrived and traveled teyvat shortly before the cataclysm happened.
But because the traveler said they were woken up by their twin to leave teyvat all of a sudden, we assumed they were asleep the whole time as far as I know.
But this short has disproven this considering we see Lumine and Aether in Inazuma together during the flash backs.
Mind you, every animation short that wasnt made as a promotion has happened canonically as far as I know.
And it explains how traveler lumine can have inteyvats in her hair, which she mentions that it was aether who put them there and that he did.
And let me remind you that the traveler has lied about things. Their name for example. Even if you give them their canon names they will still insist you call them 'traveler'. The twins are for all their friendliness are private people and have a tendency to bottle things up.
But that doesn't mean they lied, we just incorrectly estimated how long they were asleep for.
We newer saw Aether and Lumine at the same place And time in teyvat.
@ericavant9596 I disagree tbh. If you observe each shot, they are from the POV of each twin. Lumine sees Aether and vice versa. But most importantly they are in sync like a shared memory.
One shot has Lumine poke Aether and we see Aether feels her little poke even with eyes closed, She pauses sipping her soup as she watches her brother gulp it down, they do each others hair in the same room, Lumine splashing Aether in a pond while he's down etc.
And its mostly the design choice to make the shots sepia filter and look like worn out photographs to me. And this imagery often signifies memories from the past. Never have I seen scenes where the sepia filtered scene has signified illusions narrative wise
If they wanted to convey the 'what ifs scenario' i believe a shot of them together doing these things only for a cut to them doing these things alone/with someone else or waking up abruptly in tears would be a better example imo as it would mostly convey an illusion/dream but again its just my personal view and my reasonings for coming to these conlusion.
Dont mind me these are just my delulus and wanted to offer an alternative POV to make some lines of dialogue make sense for Traveler Lumine of course. How she got her iconic Inteyvats while in a coma just baffles me and this theory made it make more sense.
@@petrpopopepe1764 yeah because its not the point of the animated short. The short tells a simple story of the twins collective bottled up emotions of worry, loneliness and longing.
I just made the theory to explain how Traveler Lumi got the inteyvats because the 'i woke up with it in my hair' explaination just made me think 'aether you are trying to run away from danger why the heck would you give her new flower accessories at a time like this???'

Theyre not in inazuma together. I saw it more like a “looking for someone in a crowd” sequence common in anime.
The time line from what ive gathered is this:
Twins arrive to teyvat and fell into slumber. Lumine woke up first in khaenriah. Then cataclysm happened so she went to wake up Aether to leave teyvat, which is the intro we’re given. (We know this because Aether says so, that lumine woke him up once). They get separated again.
Lumine proceeds to travel the world with Dain (most likely looking for Aether), while Aether slept for another 500 years.
Traveler Aether didnt put inteyvat into Lumine’s hair, thats only a voiceline traveler lumine says. Traveler aether says she already had those flowers on her hair. “Thats the flower my sister was wearing in her hair.” Word for word, implying he didnt even knew of its existence until he saw her wearing one, which she already had when the intro to the game happened. Also implying he’s never been to khaenriah, since this flower bloomed all over the nation.
Genshin cooked with those animation and music again 🔥

Little observation before I watch your analysis :
At the start of the animation, Aether wakes up during sunset and shortly after we briefly see the moon, while Lumine wakes up during the sunrise.
However at the end of the animation, Lumine resumes her journey with Dainsleif during the sunset. Maybe it signifies that Lumine is headed towards the same path as Aether, or she is going to Aether? I don't really know what it means but it seems like an important detail.
Also, dandelions and sunflowers have their importance too because each flower seems to represent one of the twins because a majority of each appear during each twin's shots.
in the end it shows that lumine is walking a path too darkness, while aether is walking a path too the light.
The golem is the boss of the D&D campaign on Clorinde story quest

About the animated short, sourced from a recent interview, the Genshin Impact dev team has decided to have an internal 2D animation unit so we really cannot expect this kind of quality/art style for the actual Genshin Impact anime collab with Ufotable unless both decide to get the new Genshin 2D animation team to help with the official anime.
Would the official anime be good? Most likely since it's an actual animation studio that also produced the entire Demon Slayer anime and THE Fate series (idk if they did the whole Fate anime) but it will not be the same art style as the animated short.
When is the Genshin official anime gonna come out or any updates about it? Ufotable, from what I've seen, only makes one anime at a time. Right now, they're entirely focused on the Demon Slayer anime and there's still probably 2-3 arcs (idk much about the manga so don't take this as a fact). The Genshin anime is NOT Ufotable's priority so expect the anime to take years to cook. Most studio's also don't make "updates" about the project, they just do the project announcement and then the actual trailer when the anime's done cooking. (this is just what I observed with anime production as a whole. again, don't take this as a fact)
At the moment, it seems more likely that ufotable's top priority is not demon slayer, and they are probably focusing more on mahoyo movie and genshin. The demon slayer season is likely to be about 8 or so episodes, and the highlight directors and animators in ufotable seem to be less involved with demon slayer after season 2, so it's likely that they are COOKING with genshin. I could be wrong though.

I just notice something: can the Twins cry? We know that they don’t bleed or break easily. The tears are there but none drop?
They cried during Xianyun story quest..also previous dain quest..they did cry..the tear stain was mentioned by dain ..could be lumine or aether's tear stain..or both ..but they did cry and can cry ..they just bottle it up ...
Lumine's clothes here 1:31 has a "light" color unlike Aether's anemo/geo/electro/dendro colors throughout the video.
That might mean Lumine finished her journey AND THEN traveled with Dainsleif OR her powers didnt get sealed because in this 0:32 when she woke up (might be the start of her journey or its just her waking up) she still has the "light" colored clothes.
Or she never lost her powers like Aether did, as the abyss sibling she isn't the descender after all. Whatever nerfed traveler taking his original powers away didn't affect Lumine.

Some points:
1. We all know from the very first archon quest with Dainsleif that Aether has memories of Khaenri'ah, because Lumine woke him (assumingly during the Khaenri'ah fight) so that they could get out of Teyvat, and then the unknown Goddess stood before them and they were separated.
2. Now regarding Lumine's journey with Dainsleif, we have yet no info when it happened. Did it happen before he woke Aether to leave Teyvat, or after when they were separated by the unknown Goddess.
3. My personal guess is that Lumine's journey with Dain happened after they were separated by the unknown Goddess.

Fokus on lumine and aether costume, lumine never change the element during her journey, but aether change his colour costume when monsdat, liyue, inazuma, sumeru.. maybe thats clue, what happen to lumine during her journey.

based on that Kaenriah short from one of the festivals, Lumine was summoned and stayed in Kaenriah, because Kaenriahns summon descenders, that's the mystery of the twins, are they even twins. Anyway, after the cataclysm Lumine journeyed with Dein

What if Paimon is the Aeon of Trailblazing?
first i believe khaneriah exist right now i feel the non khnaeriahns and those left the country were basically transformed into hilibillys then those pure ones are still in khaneriah and the hp mightve just altered the memories of ppl to think the khaneriah is a destroyed nation which isnt ofc it is not in its best shape but i believe like some ruins exist their
second the crimson moon strikes again at first i was bit skeptical but clearly now i believe crimson moon rose once again in khaneriah and prbly the whole quest may be kinda centered around khaneriah's last moments or irmin getting overthrown the hunters event or quest whatever i highly suspect that somehow this crimson moon dynasty is involved in this stuff and somehow i beilieve that dyansty did something opened up a big portal to abyss and then stuff leaked in to stop hp sealed khaneriah and as it was already a some sort of curse the ppl who ran out of in panic turned hilibilys those who survived were punished with immortality and the new dynasty was kinda framed for that why? i believe they new dynasty ofc didn't liked this and already suspected that thing might turn out like that but however they mightve not thought that those ppl still exist they mightve been their and may just got've mixed with the new dynasty to suspect less
yes so things like that mightve played out morever idk what is crimson moon? i do think its a sentient entity? or is it the corpse of moon sister and is cursed that whenever destuction will come in teyvat crimson moon will rise?? or that it is a type of tool used to basically alter the memories or go in a trans state? woah excited a lot

Seeing the smile in Island's face and super excited analyzing again with these Genshin Animated Short o7
Basically, what I get from this is Lumine have already travelled Teyvat while Aether is only starting out following the same locations her sister has been.
While Lumine's adventure has been all serious and only focusing on finding his brother (plus whatever Dains and her mission is), Aether's encounters has been mostly positive (with travelling besides Paimon) and that he already knows her sister is somewhat safe.
Lumine's Teyvat travels has been more heart-wrenching than her brother. As she travelled, there were no signs of her brother in sight.
Fun fact, at around 2:00, one of the people in the background is probably Xiao (I don't think anyone else wears shoes with those metal pieces)

Lumine never got help from archons, her element kept on light, while Aether met or received every element each time he cross. So… probably the present journey give us more understanding while Lumine only see the harsh situation and the destruction of Khaenri’ah hence she seemed to never met the archons.
This is just my personal guess

If we swap the positions of lumine and Paimon in this video
We can conclude that "Paimon" traveled around the world after the disaster,
and the twins they traveled together
Also, you and I both know "that power related of time"
So the "meaning of travel" is actually to achieve the conditions for swapping positions.

Paimon can be chatty and annoying but she is a source of brightness in Aether's mentality
paimon is such a great companion. lumine looked so lonely here. if paimon wasnt around aether will also suffer. These twins are not used to being alone since they always had each other. im grateful for paimon

THE TWINS ARE INTERCHANGABLE. Aether is just the main traveler hoyoverse uses for promotional narrative consistency, but the writers are intentionally writing the story where if switched the twins would still be in the same position. This makes twins as both the traveler and abyss royalty canon PLEASE don't ignore this part of the lore.
If Aether is the canon traveler, then why would there be a choice to choose which twin that isn't the laziest reply "sO PLayErs cAN chOOse a GEndEr."
Didn't stop them from making Kiana the MC when Kevin was basically male kiana.

@@harmonialarts the choosing MC is just for adjustment to player . not everyone has the same tastes, so developers must open this up for all groups to be able to play with the gender they want . For the story, Aether is the MC, the choice of MC at the start of the game is only for the game, not for the actual story. Hoyovers have made a short animation to explain this, why there are still people who deny it .
What's the point of this canon mc debate?
It's not really adding to much lore-wise, so why?
Mihoyo mostly posts Aether as the mc, but sometime they make Lumine ("travelling with Paimon") the mc in official arts, and they don't want to officially state one of the twins as canon mc.
As long as they keep things vague and don't state anything this debate will never end.
And if it did nothing would be gained except Lumine traveller feeling disapointed.
