Tip#8 if you are not on a time limit or trying to save a unit have your slower heavy armor units move ahead of the group while making your faster units wait. Not not will the enemy waste their turn trying to kill them but will sometimes try to move pass them to get to your weaker units allowing you a chance to surround them. Also by having you slower units in the fight first you wont have to worry them playing catch up.
Exactly. I like Coffee’s content since I started the PSP title a week ago before this game came out, but al, of his beginner videos are so far advanced that I can understand so little of it.
Pleasant video to stumble onto. Clear audio, well spoken, neither frantic nor barely conscious, and no background music mercilessly drilling into one's ear canal. And most importantly, informative. Good stuff ^_^
Great tips! Also don't be afraid of using items/consumables. Its easy to get into the habit of "I may need to save this for later", but there are some difficult fights in TO:Reborn that felt mandatory to use an item to inflict a "Breach" (Defense Down Status).
An excellent tip, I'll probably put this in the next video, credit to you of course. It's all too easy to fall into that habit of hoarding items in these games.
This is a great additional tip. I would say they are especially useful early on. During the first few turns you do almost nothing but move your units forward into position. You can use this time to use items to gain MP, or a Coral Harp to change the weather. Give your units advantages before they first enter battle.
As a veteran of the series, I recommend this to newbies. Its simple yet informative, no irritating music and he gives the viewers a chance to catch up with well paced pauses so they don't get overwhelmed. Great stuff my guy, keep it up!

Hi Pug Lover! Honestly, you can train as many units as you like. Experience Charms, Training Battles and the in-game dungeons give you ample opportunities to level up. In addition, it's worth having not just one of ever class, but multiples of many useful classes like Archers, Clerics, Knights and Mages, so you can switch up your team based on the battle and terrain.

Square put out a bunch of the art as part of their press release. I'm hoping they release the rest tho, there's so much high quality art we could pull from it and they've only released like a third of it.
Very helpful video. Loved the tips and tricks and how you articulated. I'm a bit bothered by some of your pauses between phrases but no biggie. Subscribed and looking forward to more detailed content especially for us first timers!
Great video and content! I work in video production and want to give a kind critique to help you improve. There are pauses in the voiceover that hinder the pacing. The voiceover itself is great, but there are several spots (2:39 for example) where the pause between phrases is too long. Even some of the shorter pauses could be cinched up a little. Also, not sure if you're using a compressor, but that could also improve the quality of the voiceover. Good luck reaching your goal!
i like the editing. i dont play this game though. i just love its ps1 version and too bad i dont have the console required. but i just subscribed you because of your clear explanation and good editing bro. hats off!
So in ff tactics. When u mouse over a peice of armor it tells you which classes can use it. Does tactics ogre have anything like that? I got a broad sword but idk who can wear it
Yes. It depends on what platform you're playing on, I use an Xbox controller on PC. when hovering a piece of gear, I hold X and press right on my dpad, and the menu changes to show abilities, effective damage types, bonuses, and what classes can use the gear. That's what you're looking for.
@@TitaniumLegman thank you. I literally figured it like an hour after I asked. I'm enjoying the game a lot. I just defeated the necromancer for the first time after losing twice. I'm liking how difficult the game is already. It's a lot more tactical than many other games of its type. Lok
watching the video i agreed with you 100%, pick up card asap if you have a change and carefully when upgrade new armor, new is not always better , you are 👍👍👍
Heya Tom, i have a question about Tactics Ogre. Do you have a video that explains every skills that we can get from every classes, and how to best use it. Thanks Tom 👍
I do not have a video like that, really. The thing with TO is that skills can't be transferred between classes with one late game exception, and you learn them by leveling. So there's not much to make a guide/video on.
Thank you for showing me what the Instill spells do. It isn't explained in the shop menu and I figured it increased elemental resistance and damage, but I thought the increased damage only affected things like spells and abilities OF THAT ELEMENT, not granted additional elemental damage to general weapon attacks. Instill is looking a lot better now, and while I already used a Rune Fencer without it this will definitely give me more setup power.
Take this with a grain of salt as I haven't played the SNES version. Yes. Reborn is an evolution of the 2011 PSP release of the game, with a suite of changes to the gameplay. Considering the 2011 release was itself a complete overhaul of the original SNES release, Reborn is a big change from those times.
Do you mean all the blue cards? Or just the skill activation cards? The blue cards in general provide a buff to the listed stat for the battle for your unit, and you can hold up to four at a time. You can see what ones you have on any given unit under that unit's portrait. If you mean the skill cards, basically when you pick those up they increase the chance that your auto skills like Meditate will actually activate.
@@TitaniumLegman thanks for the answer! yeah meant the specific skill card, because could not see a difference, but thanks, now I know, the other ones I used already all the time. Do you know what the green cards give me with the hidden Luck stat? And If you could answer this also: do you know why should I even think about setting the Loyality of a new char to C when I buy Units? So is there a reason? If so, what is the difference between L/N/C? Thanks!
@@nakamotoarena8954 sure, I can help with those! Luck increases the damage you do to enemies, if your luck is higher than the enemy. It's not easily tracked, so basically the more luck you can get the better. Character alignment impacts the loyalty of those units. If you're on a route that matches with a character's alignment, their loyalty with be better than a character whose alignment doesn't match.
um....focus firing 1 target is the opposite of divide & conquer....d&c means to split the enemy lines (or urs) in 1/2 or to split everyone up to go after individual units
@@TitaniumLegman i guess. d&c usually refers to keeping the enemy separated so they cannot unite, focus fire is usually about how u use your entire force to pick them off afterwards. d&c examples would be Charm spells to switch sides, or cutting off enemy archers from the main body via aoe status effects...but how you do that in this game...that would be useful to know. Focus fire is always an excellent strategy, but not sure how to split the enemy up into smaller groups tactically other than status effects or baiting into traps
@@wraithryder well, we can look at the very chapter that the game itself recommends you "divide and conquer" as an example! As the enemy line pushes forward, you're encouraged to use your melee units and the terrain to cut off enemy units who move out of position or push too far forward, cutting them off from the rest of their squad and making them easy to then focus down. This is most easily done by pulling back, then flanking around any enemies that "take the bait" so to speak.
@@TitaniumLegman Thumbs Up for that! If you have more tactics like that but which are unique to Reborn's game systems, id def watch a vid on cool little strategies that you could use to cut off lines of enemies - i think i remember learning that you could knock off units from cliffs to kill them - i never knew that!
I haven't tested this myself, but I believe based on how some other effects work that you can only have one ACTIVE at a time. So even if two triggered simultaneously, I believe the last one to activate would override any others.
Thanks for the kind words chief! My degree is in Broadcast Communication, so doing YT fits my skillset quite well. I'm glad that comes across in my videos, and I'm pleased that it helped you out. :D
Damn, didn't know I have check Warren Reports for side missions (hadn't get any, sttarting chapter 2), all Reports were the scenes which were played during gameplay only the Ravness event wasn't part of gameplay but just in Warren Report.
Yeah, the main thing to check is the Talk section. Think of it like the in universe news report, clueing you in to things going on in the world you might not otherwise know about.
Thanks for the info sir! So far rune fencer is my favorite class, surprised to hear the last version of this game that class wasn't good. Only played FF Tactics but really like the chaos in this game compared to that one.. Somehow beat Nybeth on my first try, learned real quick i had to rush him down lol.
On the world map, when you click the button which pulls up your menu (for me an Xbox controller it's the a button) you'll see sections such as party and options. One of them should be the Warren Report. That's what you're looking for.
Is it ok for me to build Denam into a Mage :P I always a fan of magic and always turn MC into Mage even if it's not best fit for it, but I still preferred this playstyle. 'm not sure how stat growth in this game work, is it base stat thing or level using certain class increase certain stat more. I knew that HP/MP affect by this but not sure about other stat. Like if I wanna make stat affect inflict then is it better to level character with cleric before turning them into terror knight or something along those line or want more HP/Str warrior/knight.
Honestly, the classes' base stats and the bonuses from your gear are the most important parts of your build. Stats you gain from leveling are impacted by the class you leveled as, but not enough to be worth min-maxing. And yes, Mage Denam is totally a viable strat!
You may be seeing an indicator of an enemy Rampart aura that is currently active. You can check the enemy unit and see if they have that skill. If so, that's your answer.
Well, you can do both paths in one run of the game thanks to the way New Game Plus works here. That includes eventually being able to get all the characters and secret quests that spin off from either path as well. So really, I'd recommend choosing whichever path you resonate with the most.
Hey Thanks for this. Definitely subbing to your channel. I recently bought TO Reborn and after a few battles my brain started to melt when I realized how much was going on in there.
I don't have enough data to give you a definitive answer. But from what I have experienced, my generics have no issue keeping up with my named characters. I'm still early in the game tho so that could change.
@@TitaniumLegman, I see. It's RT&AT is less about keeping up with named characters and more about how often they can act. Let's say a no name knight could act not as often than a named knight... Still I'm looking forward to play this version.
@@TitaniumLegman, ok. And are they stronger? Aloser(the blue Archer, you can get on Chaos or Neutral Route) is stronger than Sara (named NPC) and both are stronger than generics Archer (at least in the old version of this games).
Thanks for the tips! I haven't bought Reborn yet because I'm still playing Triangle Strategy, but I plan to. I have the PSP version on my Vita, but I only got to chapter 2, I'm just not that big of a portable gamer, and the Vita is too small, kinda stresses out my eyes and hands after long play sessions, which SRPGs like this tend to encourage (for me.)
The biggest thing is probably unlocking the Phoroampa Wildwood, the first dungeon in the game. Worry not, you may still be able to do so by reading the Warren Report, and if not, the game does allow you to re-wind time and replay the game from different points once you reach a certain story beat. So you can always go back and get it later.
@@TitaniumLegman thank you for this; read through this morning before work, got caught up, and unlocked the forest! Now to make my Terror Knight build work.
It's mostly just aesthetic which one you have equipped- having collected them matters somewhat, if only because the things that grant them are story events that trigger flags for later, but mostly their just there to commemorate achievements- indeed, their basically analogous to an achievement folder. As there are a number that aren't tied to main story events, such as for certain hidden content and so on.
Archers are far better balanced, they're still very effective against lighter armor but they're much weaker against heavier armor. Ninjas are terrifying now tho as Ninjutsu got HUGE buffs.
31k views!! I'd love to see some intermediate and advanced tips! And some party composition and in depth unit building (weapons/spells) great content brother!!
I'll definitely be getting into some deeper stuff as we go, no worries there. I'm always open to suggestions on what people would like to see me cover, and I'm gonna keep working as fast as I can to get that info out there for ya!
@@TitaniumLegman you're the best legman!!
this was helpful thank you! quick question where did you find the full body art for characters classes you used at 5:34?
Square put out a bunch of the art as part of their press release. I'm hoping they release the rest tho, there's so much high quality art we could pull from it and they've only released like a third of it.
Very helpful video. Loved the tips and tricks and how you articulated. I'm a bit bothered by some of your pauses between phrases but no biggie. Subscribed and looking forward to more detailed content especially for us first timers!
Thanks for the feedback! The next tips video is in the works, and should be available tomorrow! 👍
@@TitaniumLegman Looking forward to it, man!
Tip #7.
Mages & Archers WILL hit your own units if they dont have a line of site the the enemy unit and your unit is standing in the way.
It depends. For bolt spells and crossbows, yes. For aoe and bows, it shouldn't. Hopefully they haven't changed it from LUCT.
In my experience things are still the same as they were in LuCT.
i struggled to make any progress in Ogre Battle on Super NES and i never played another Tactics game. i think i'm gonna give this a try
Oh man, best of luck! If you need any help you know where to come, and enjoy!
I also realised that Runefencers make for excellent tanks. The AI for some reason hates them with a passion.
I hope you will do a lot more more of these, I'm so confused! New Sub.
Thanks for subbing Steve! I'm working on the next guide now, 10 tips this time, should be out tomorrow. I hope it helps ya! :D
The balance in classes in Reborn is great. Makes many unused classes before fun to play.
Absolutely, it's a wonderful change.
Great video! Subbed.
Thanks for the sub Sir Will, I'm glad you found my video useful! 😁
Very useful hints thank you! 👍
Ty for the info
i like the editing. i dont play this game though. i just love its ps1 version and too bad i dont have the console required.
but i just subscribed you because of your clear explanation and good editing bro. hats off!
Well damn, thank you Daniel! That support helps so much, so I appreciate it.
Yeah, I still is definitely great on anything that can run it.
Is there much of a play difference between this and the SNES version?
Take this with a grain of salt as I haven't played the SNES version.
Yes. Reborn is an evolution of the 2011 PSP release of the game, with a suite of changes to the gameplay. Considering the 2011 release was itself a complete overhaul of the original SNES release, Reborn is a big change from those times.
CAN someone explain how the blue skill buff S-cards work? I just don't get it
Do you mean all the blue cards?
@@TitaniumLegman Wow, thanks for the quick reply, but what is loyalty for?
If loyalty falls too far, a unit will desert and abandon your army permanently.
Great guide. Good job
um....focus firing 1 target is the opposite of divide & conquer....d&c means to split the enemy lines (or urs) in 1/2 or to split everyone up to go after individual units
Well yeah, you divide the enemy to enable you to "focus" individual high priority targets down.
Congrats on reaching your subscriber goal in less then 24 hours lol. Good video.
Yeah I'm... Kinda floored by that. Not at all the response I was expecting. Thanks for the congrats, and the kind words! 😊
Great video! Would love timestamps/section breakers for each tip in the future :)
Y'know I absolutely meant to do that and completely forgot. I'll add them now, and in the future, thanks for the reminder Doug!
Can a Unit ever gain benefit from their previous class upon changing? like a Knight that was a Ninja will have Dual Wielding?
The only class that can get benefits like this are the Lord class.
if you have multiple element instill can it activate at the same time?
I haven't tested this myself, but I believe based on how some other effects work that you can only have one ACTIVE at a time. So even if two triggered simultaneously, I believe the last one to activate would override any others.
Great video! Thank you for enunciating your words, speaking clearly and providing good tips!!
Thanks for the kind words chief! My degree is in Broadcast Communication, so doing YT fits my skillset quite well. I'm glad that comes across in my videos, and I'm pleased that it helped you out. :D
Got to chapter 2 rune fencer this time is really fun. And thanks for reminding us about Warren report
My Rune Fencer has been an absolute Chad for me as well, I'm so glad they buffed the weaker classes. Thanks for watching! :D
The combo of Rune Fencers getting meditate, and finishers costing MP now is ridiculously good.
Jack of all trades is a master of none, but better than a master of one....
I like this 🎉 I've always wondered why "jack of all trades master of none" was such a bad thing 😂
Thanks for the great tips and looking forward to more content on this amazing game. G
You got it boss! Another video coming out tomorrow, on top the "Ten More Tips" video I followed this one up with! :D
Rune fencer is good now! They really needed the extra utility and stats. Congrats on beating Nybeth, that's a good first step!
Looks like you’ve overshot your subscriber goal already 😎
I was not prepared. 🤯
Thank you, nice guide
What the hell is the Warren report? And where can I find it?
Thank you!
You bet! :D
Question, when you try to attack a unit, what is the red dotted circle at the bottom of the tile? Is it a warning or something?
You may be seeing an indicator of an enemy Rampart aura that is currently active. You can check the enemy unit and see if they have that skill. If so, that's your answer.
Thanks!
Hey, stumbled on your video. Im new to the game and Im torn on which path to choose. Any tips on what you did?
Well, you can do both paths in one run of the game thanks to the way New Game Plus works here. That includes eventually being able to get all the characters and secret quests that spin off from either path as well. So really, I'd recommend choosing whichever path you resonate with the most.
Hey Thanks for this. Definitely subbing to your channel. I recently bought TO Reborn and after a few battles my brain started to melt when I realized how much was going on in there.
There is definitely a LOT going on here, so I'm glad I could help. Thanks for subbing, I hope you enjoy the game even more going forward!
Ah, well I’ve been playing wrong; time to start over 😅 (tbf, it’s only like 4hrs of work gone so it’s not soul crushing I guess)
Better to learn and start over from a solid base, right?
TO:Reborn is super cool. I always check for class changes. Hahaha. Lots of reading needed.
Yes, this is absolutely a game that demands reading. And that's even after they voiced the entire script!
I have a question about RT? Is it as bad as bevor? Like dose it makes generics useless again? I really hope they changed how it works.
@@Gidiwouu I get that, my point is that my named characters don't seem to be getting many more actions than generics.
I imagine you'll be buying on PC once you're ready to play Alexander? I imagine you'll have a great time with the game once you do!
really glad ive never played any iterations of this game, looking forward to hopping in.
I'd bet you're going to love your time with the game. Best of luck, hit us up if you ever have any questions!
I'm on chapter 3 and didn't know about the Warren Report unlocking extra content. Did I miss a lot?
The biggest thing is probably unlocking the Phoroampa Wildwood, the first dungeon in the game. Worry not, you may still be able to do so by reading the Warren Report, and if not, the game does allow you to re-wind time and replay the game from different points once you reach a certain story beat. So you can always go back and get it later.
@@TitaniumLegman thank you for this; read through this morning before work, got caught up, and unlocked the forest! Now to make my Terror Knight build work.
I need more!
I subbed because of your humble plight to subscribe
Well that's very kind of you Essential Tips, thank you!
Good channel, you d got a new sub. Good speaking voice btw
I was a radio host in a past life, so I've had lots of practice. Thank you for the sub and the kind words chief!
I noticed you can equip titles but there is no immediate or visual effect. Is there a point
It's exactly as Kevin says, they're just a little reward for doing certain things in game. Some flair you can show off for your achievements.
@@TitaniumLegman thank you for the info
@@Cthululululu thank you for the info
Supported ur chann. Good content
So.. Are the archers balanced now or is it still cancer together with double attacking bastards called ninja?
Archers are far better balanced, they're still very effective against lighter armor but they're much weaker against heavier armor. Ninjas are terrifying now tho as Ninjutsu got HUGE buffs.
@@TitaniumLegman god dammit.. oh well, I suppose that's a little bit of solace I can tolerate. Thanks nonetheless!
Great video 👍 wants more 😊
I'm working on the next video right now Tipik, 10 tips this time so lots of good content for y'all! Should be out tomorrow. :D
Cool been long time since playing tatacle rgp
